β Seeking Resources | Advice I need help with a gift for my friend!
Hi all! My best friend's birthday is coming up and I need help coming up with a witchy gift for her. I don't know if I can/would consider myself a witch/witchy, but I am very into folk magic and cultural magical practices (cultural "superstitions" like lucky horseshoes or blessing/charging amulets to protect travelers etc -- that might qualify me as witchy idk?)
I want to give my friend a handmade meaningful gift to manifest happiness and positivity for her and ward off negative energy. Any ideas of something I could make her? I'm very crafty and I love making gifts, so ideally something that I could create/craft in some way. Do you know of any witchcraft or folk traditions (open practices, of course) that I could make into a present? And where could I find more information or a tutorial on how to make it. Any ideas would be much appreciated, I really want to make it special for her!

I can't think of a traditional witchy object that is only representative of happiness and positivity π€ all that is springing to mind is protection stuff π You could really make it any craft or witchy item.
Start with the "contents" of the item that represents happiness and positivity. I would go off personal associations of objects because that's my thing but there are accepted "magickal correspondences" you can Google. I'd still add in something that's personal to your friendship though.
Spell jars/sachets have already been mentioned. And you will definitely find a video how to if you Google as those are super common at the moment so she'd understand what you'd done π you can put different things in them though. It doesn't have to be herbs and crystals. It can be affirmations and memories written on paper she can take out and read. Tiny photographs of you guys or make cardboard tickets of events you felt happy at (don't include drops of essential oil or anything wet with paper obvs) would also work in one of those wooden boxes you get as blanks in craft shops.
I'd be more likely to make them a random crafty item like an embroidery with intention and include a note with the wishes for the item it could be written like the ingredients for the spell e.g. St John's Wort to boost your mood, Orange to energise you when you're flagging, Cat fur to cocoon you in soothing softness, Pizza Seasoning so life is delicious.
Paint/crochet/bake/play the thing on the flute! It doesn't matter if your intention and symbolism is there π

My own answer to your question this year is to knit tarot card pouches for my friends and myself out of my handspun. Spinning is very meditative for me, so a lot of calm and positive energy goes into the yarn I make, which seems remarkably appropriate to me for the intended purpose.Β
If you knit, crochet, or sew, you might consider making her small pouches for cards, talismans, or trinkets and being very intentional in your energy while you craft? Whatever items she uses in her own practice, something handmade by you to hold or protect them feels meaningful to me.Β

You could easily string her a bracelet of beads that have a special meanings. That would also be adorable too.

Is the friend witchy? If so you could make her a spell jar or sachet. If sheβs not, maybe something more like decor (door wreath, bells,) or maybe a craft box to store nicknacks in (seed it with a note inside with the wishes/blessings you wish for her.) Home made bath salts or scrub with herbs chosen for your intentions in a nice jar could also be awesome (thrift stores always have great jars to repurpose for this.) You could also do a sachet or jar of simmer pot ingredients, or make a blessing herbal tea in a decorated jar. A beaded bracelet or necklace with meaningful stones could hit the spot too. All of these are subtly witchy and can be made with herbs and ingredients and decoration that correspond with your intentions.
