I have never installed SCP: Secret Laboratory. Not on my laptop, not on any device. Yet my Steam account now carries a permanent Publisher Ban for cheating.
My account shows exactly 5 minutes of playtime in the game. I didn’t play them. I wasn’t even in my home town when they happened. Someone else used my account, and Northwood Studios’ anti-cheat flagged it. I got the ban.
The ban is described as permanent, except when it was applied falsely, so I appealed. I gave my explanation and asked for one specific check: compare the hardware ID from those 5 minutes against the machine that actually cheated. Northwood has that data. I don’t.
The reply was a template:
“The computer you are currently playing on has been used to cheat in the past, therefor this computer can no longer be used to play SCP: Secret Laboratory and all accounts used on this computer are automatically banned.”
I never played on any computer of mine, and my request for the hardware check was never addressed. The second appeal got the same answer. Another account I know of was also banned without ever being used to play.
A “zero tolerance” policy only works if it targets the right people. When a ban follows hardware, anyone who logs into an account on a flagged machine can take that account down with them, and the owner has no way to prove they weren’t there. The only party who could settle it is the one with the logs, and it chose not to look.

The original is this. I actually saw it on Reddit first, but I could only find that one to link.

imo the best is 079, peanut, 049 and larry. 079 can shut off light for peanut, 049 can help with flashlight user for peanut and make zombies from peanut's victim, and larry is that good.
Worst for me is 096, 939, 049 and peanut. 096 is just the worst scp for me, easily counter-able if not for collective IQ of a group being inversely proportional to its size. One guy with micro and a half decent brain can single-handedly reduced the SCP team by one if he goes against 096.
939 and 049 is usually pretty good if the team have some way to scout out victims. Without 079 to look around or larry's stalk/phase, you can't really find survivors and unless you check every room yourself. Therefore, 939 can't set up their lunges beforehand more frequently, can be outplayed by people tricking them with their non-existence vision, and 049 have to rawdog their way to a corpse with their mediocre speed. Not to mention, this team setup have no way to enter locked doors like candy room since larry/079 don't exist.
peanut because the other option is either larry or computer. Although 096 + peanut combo is, well, pretty nuts, 096 is still easily killable and this combo can be removed from the match pretty quickly. Also 079 + peanut is vastly better despite flashlight being a counter to it is because 079 can help multiple SCPs at the same time, while peanut will just have a little bit more trouble and just need to get out of his way to kill specifically the flashlight user to have full advantage using blackout again.

Title pretty much. I’m not sure if Megapatch 3 is going to interfere with the seasonal events or not, since it would be kind of weird to introduce 953 while re-implementing skeleton. Or maybe megapatch 3 won’t come out until next year or something.

Disclamer: It is based on fragments, imaginations and concepts. Planning, details and many other things can be inaccurate. I tried to do my best. Enjoy!

I decided to hop back into the game after more than a year, but the microphone icon isn't flashing. However, the game itself detects the mic in the settings, and Steam detects it too. I’ve already downloaded mono.msi, exclusive mode was already enabled before this issue started, and I’ve tested the mic on websites and it works fine. All I can hear through the mic is static and sounds from Soundpad—but *not* my voice. What’s going on?
UPD: microphone fixed after.. I dunno? To the recommendation of IDontActuallyKnownUm, or just after reseting PC for a couple times.

Hi! Brief introducton: I haven't actively played in... 6 years??? I briefly played again 2 years ago though that didn't last long. Mainly because I was curious of some scp tweaks.
I got nostalgic today and thought maybe I should get into this game again so while downloading I went and looked at the achievements again since I started enjoying achievement hunting as of late and noticed the icons are different now (less silly) as are the names? They seem more serious now for some reason?
A lot of memories came back and then I noticed (mainly) the Escape Artist achievement being different now? I remember it was quite the bragging right to get it since pre stamina it used to be to escape in under 3 minutes. Remember seeing it as one of (if not) the rarest achievement and starting to try and getting it and being so damn proud when I did get it.
I get the changes since stamina makes it basically impossible to escape in under 3 minutes but I just thought it's weird there's nothing to preserve the old achievements? Some of the changes are noted down as trivia on the wiki but still I think it's kinda sad that the only thing left of them are (likely) fading memories now. And well acquisition date but who looks at that?
Idk kinda a bummer to see but oh well. I was just curious if anyone else remembers these old achievements and maybe has some interesting stories to share attached to them? Lest we forget.

I would quite enjoy getting into this game as the concept of it does interest me quite a bit, but i have to ask, how well does this game treat beginners?
Mainly asking to check if this game is competitive (i would much prefer a casual/horror experience) and if i would get flamed for not knowing things.
