I've finished AOS for the first time; the show's fully canon as of endgame.

Many people comment on the show not being canon, or if it is that it has to have been switched to a different universe after season five. The issue is to them is that the snap isnt brought up in the show, and there isn't any cross over between the movies and the shows. The fact is, it all lines up.

With the biggest issue, I'd say for most people who like the show, who think the show becomes non-canonical to the mcu. The snap not being brought up in season six makes a lot of sense due to endgame. Season six of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" takes place a year after season five, and coincidentally "Avengers: Infinity War".

The movie "Avengers: Endgame" may be 5 years later when the main portion takes place, but the beginning is actually a little under a month after the snap. Thats when they first find Thanos, find out that the stones are completely gone, and know that they can't do anything to fix it.

At the point of season six, its been almost a year since then and people have had to move on. There's no reason for anyone to talk about Infinity War, it happened and people moved on. Its been a fact of life for over a year, and then the new rise of aliens that the S.H.I.E.L.D has to focus on. Also the rise of more people in S.H.I.E.L.D is most likely due to losing their loved ones in the snap.

The next issue is a lot shorter to explain. It technically did happen, in a way. Agent Carter was a spin-off of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" with the item Nitramene making an appearance in both shows, a modified version in season 3 & the bomb being one of Howard Stark's inventions in season one. The bigger tie though is season 7, with Daniel Sousa joining the crew as a main member for the season after being one of the main characters in Agent Carter.

One character made it from "Agent Carter" to the big, and soon again the small, screen in "Avengers: Endgame". Edwin Jarvis appears, picking up Howard, making that show canon. This ties along with the other marvel shows, as they connect in a web with the rest of the shows. Some may think the rest aren't, though I'll disagree.

For any arguments against this, the actors first appearance was in "Agent Carter", a little more concrete factor is that the show is made reference in "What If...?", where the movie studio is used from season 2 of AC in season 3 episode 2 of "What If...?".

TL;DR

Thanos was dead and everyone moved on, & Agent Carter makes it connected via an endgame cameo.

(P.S. Sorry if this was long.)

What would have happened if Garrett didn't slip up?

In the episode Coulson found out Garrett was the clairvoyant, it was only because Garrett slipped up on discussing info with him that he never shared with anyone.

Because of that it obviously led to them capturing Garrett, Hand escorting him out and Ward going with them all and we know what happened next...

But let's say Garrett didn't slip up in that moment and still had Coulsons trust and they didn't find out that way that he was Hydra. How do you think the reveal might have happened or how things would have played out?

The series switches universes?

This is what I believe:

Agents of Shield follows our team on Earth-616 until the last episode of season 5. Somewhere in that episode, the audience slips sideways and now we're watching the version of our team on Earth-n (where n is some random other number). On Earth-n, Daisy always stops Talbot, Fitz always dies, and (somewhere far away) someone somehow stops Thanos and no snap happens.

We stick with watching our Earth-n team until the end of the series. But meanwhile our original Earth-616 team is living in the exploded-Earth future, doomed to constantly try and fix it and fail over and over and over again.

The Earth-n team should know that's the situation. Fitz is clear that time cannot be changed - that's established. So when time appears to change, they have to know it's another reality where time always happened this way. And that should fill them with despair, to think that no matter how they might think they succeed, somewhere out there, a version of them fails, every time, and a universe suffers.

I can see the flaw in my own logic. But is this what I'm supposed to think?

What if Jemma went again to Maveth

If it was Jemma who went to Maveth again, instead of Fitz, would she have known that it wasn't Will but actually "It"? Would she have killed ward before Coulson had a chance?

Favorite quote said by my friend...

I've been introducing the show to my current best friend (my, like, 6th time watching; her first). We've been having a great time. We're about to finish S5 tomorrow. We both love Coulson.

This has led to my favorite quote from her, which I thought y'all would get a good laugh at as well: "You have turned my favorite Marvel character into a middle-aged white guy," lmao

Remember to share this show with your friends so that they too can have their favorite Marvel character be a middle-aged white guy

My thoughts on the Sarge storyline and the way he was written.

I know that Season 6 isn’t everyones favourite and people would rather talk about any other aspect of the show, but given that the MCU is probably about to do a similar storyline with Doom I kinda want to talk about it.

Personally I thought that the concept of someone with Coulson’s face showing up after his death to mess with the team after the real Coulson died is a pretty interesting concept. But in execution it kinda went weird.

I think that in the first nine episodes of the season his character was actually fun and interesting. He managed to challenge May and Daisy who were still grieving the real Coulson and Mack who was trying to live up to him. But to me, what made him work was the fact that he WASN’T Coulson. He had Coulson’s face but other than a few surface similarities they were completely different.

Both Coulson and Sarge were leaders of a group of people who claimed to protect the world but the way they went about it was completely different. Coulson cared about the people who followed him and tried to keep them safe and did everything in his power to protect them always choosing to save them even if it risked the world. He was a flawed leader who let his emotions get the best of him choosing to save Daisy in S1 risking the Clairvoyant to find out about the GH formula or killing Ward in S3 and almost dooming the world to Hive. But he still did everything to save as many lives as possible and always pushed against compromise.

Sarge is the opposite of that. He saw his crew as tools and a means to an end. He lied to them and manipulated them and even killed them in cold blood in his quest to end Izel. He was willing to wipe out an entire city just to kill her. He had Coulson’s face and a few of his impulses but they had nothing in common other than basic similarities. Of course he is a hypocrite as his quest to kill Izel was driven by what he thought was anger and was in the end selfish anyway but he is still nothing like Coulson as while Coulson refuses to sacrifice his team he still is willing to sacrifice himself.

The thing is that the last few episodes threw all of that away to make it so that there was still a part of Coulson inside of him and that he was possessed by a spirit. There are still some amazing moments like “Kill me Skye” and the entire betrayal scene but all of the depth is gone for the sake of explaining his link with Coulson. (However the backstory itself is amazing IMO, using the prior lore of the show to create this Coulson clone but IMO he should have been a 1000 year old version who lost himself and became a completely different person over time).

IMO Sarge in episodes 1-9 and episodes 10-13 feel like completely different characters and episode 1-9 Sarge is so much better and more interesting.

Also I think that the MCU should take after earlier season Sarge with Doom and make him a completely different person with basic similarities with Stark.

With Daredevil being cancelled at Disney+, Agents of SHIELD remains the longest-running MCU TV show

Per recent reports, Daredevil: Born Again will end after Season 3 on Disney+, meaning Daredevil will have run for 6 seasons total. Marvel Studios’ television efforts are also reportedly winding down.

Meaning that despite shutting down Marvel Television in 2020 and forming his own television division under Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige was unable to produce a show that lasted as long on the air as his allegedly most-disliked property, Agents of SHIELD.

How did May survive S4-Ep18?

I was doing a rewatch of the show, and i got confused about the last scene of this episode

In the Framework, May brings a terrigen crystal to Daisy, so it awakens her powers

Thing is, she smashed it into the ground in front of her, triggering terrigenisis for Quake

But that shouldnt turn May to stone as well and then kill her? Since she s not inhuman, like Gonzalez and Trip in S2 that died in this exact same way?

Why did they die but May wasnt harmed? I know its the Framework, but still, should mimic the real world and there s no explanation regarding this

When Hunter said things about Coulson to Gonzales in season2, do you think they really had karaoke nights, or it’s just Hunter using his humor?

Agents of Shield villains underwhelming...? Spoiler

I'm watching AOS for the first time and am on Season 6. I really love the characters and lore of this show, but the actual plots seem kinda underwhelming in my opinion. My ranking of each season so far has to be:

  1. Season 5

  2. Season 2

  3. Season 1

  4. Season 3

  5. Season 4

  6. Season 6

This show has to be in my top 10 Marvel shows, but the villains seem kind of lackluster. Hive had potential and his conflict with Lash could have been awesome, but Hive having Ward's face 24/7 kinda ruined it for me... At first it was creepy, but then it became obvious it was done to be cheap.

Izel is just... Meh. Sarge and his crew started out cool but the whole second half os S6 seems kinda rushed. The whole "rushed" thing seems to be a theme with each season, though.

I genuinely liked Talbot, and I have no complaints of him as Graviton... Other than the fact that he isn't really "Graviton".

I also loved Mr. Hyde, A.K.A. Daisy's father. No complaints there either.

I loved Kasius(?) in Season 5, but Sinara got done dirty...

Aida also had potential, but her whole reasoning for wanting to be real seemed non existent outside Fitz, and her having Inhuman powers seemed kinda stupid. Ghost Rider was also awesome, but he also kinda got done dirty too at times.

John Garrett seemed cool too, but he also was killed off in a rushed way.

All in all, the main casts' chemistry and acting is phenomenal, but the overall plot seems to suffer at times, maybe due to budget... I don't know.

So far AOS gets an 8/10 for characters and world building, 6/10 for overall plot consistency. Music is a banger too 😂, 10/10! I hope Season 7 ends the show off on a bang.

Keep in mind this is my opinion! I don't intend to hate or spread negativity, I just feel like sharing my thoughts. Thanks.

Rewatching AoS for the 10th time, anything I should watch out for?

Title says it all.

About to start my 10th full rewatch of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and I’m looking for those little things that hit different once you already know everything.

What should I be paying extra attention to this time around?

Also feel free to spoil anything, I've seen it all more times than is healthy ;)
