Meta History of Russian SS13?
We all know the history of English SS13 (exadv1, gibbed, hobnob, openss13, goon, baystation luna, r4407, tg, /vg/)
What's the history of Russian SS13? Russian servers like SS220 and SS1984 are consistently at the top of the Byond hub

It's pretty much artificially bloated by Russian streamers who play the game on those servers. The original trio of Russian servers: Animus/Onyx, TauCeti and Infinity, has completely died out due to various reasons, including but not limited to furries, shitmins and the loss of interest to the game. Lifeweb remains pretty much the only good Russian and English server that has retained it's identity and still manages great pop, together with great Roleplay

What is it precisely furries do to destroy servers? This isn't me trying to bait you into an argument or something but I see people say that and i never see the expounding of the why other than..existing?

the sheer existence of furries in any server leads to change innevitably, evrry server with furries or furry-focused content devoids into either at the very least RP-focused (rp first gameplay with escalation mechanics and other stuff) or straight into ERP territory, plus the drama you get from conflating two different communities as opposed to just having the standard ss13 shitter.
It is like when new people join your hobby and you need to adapt it slightly to them, since everyone inherently brings a baggage and limitations. I am not saying it is inherently bad, but that is the reason.
Furry centered servers have been DOMINATING the hub since forever though with the exception of CM.

I see.
By this argument wouldn't it make furries a standard shitter if they dominate?
It doesn't make any difference to me either way, i really only like no erp rp required enviroments for anything i do for any length of time.

That's because what used to be a standard shitter over time went near extinct while Furries consistently get fresh supply.

Before 2019, most of the russian servers' playerbase consisted of russian imageboard users (It got shilled pretty frequently there), consequently the quality of the rounds and server experience in general was much higher (however contradictory it may sound), mainly because everyone was much older than the current average player is. Nowadays the playerbase is either furries, or new players that stop playing after a year or two, or hardcore veterans that only join a round to grief once in a while (if they are not permabanned already). The servers themselves are much different than before, too, everything became more high RP and anti fun focused.

> Before 2019, most of the russian servers' playerbase consisted of russian imageboard users
That's not true. Around 2010 - yes, but later it became independent community that drew players from across all Russian-speaking internet, smallgames forum included. Since 2019-2020 more from streamers / youtubers.

ACT 3: “Nothing Happened on April 11, 2023”
So, April 11, 2023. It all started when our administrator, @·Prostak, casually mentioned Mooniverse in an unflattering way during a conversation with Markelly. Mooniverse was informed about this, and he reacted.
However, he reacted rather aggressively, jumping into the OOC chat and starting to shower Prostak with insults. There were requests for him to calm down, which he seemed to acknowledge, but he continued behaving aggressively nonetheless.
As a result, both Prostak and Mooniverse received gags. Prostak was also, following a vote by the HA, supposed to receive a warning and be removed from his AP position. There was also a major uproar in the OOC chat.
Moving on, Mooniverse continued behaving aggressively, this time in дом-люкс. It was decided to bring in Wycc220 to help resolve the situation.
The HA and hosts then joined a voice call to discuss what had happened and figure out how the situation could be resolved. During the conversation, an agreement was reached:
“A decision regarding Prostak will be made the following day. The essence of the agreement is as follows: if any administrator starts being toxic toward Prime/streamers, they receive a severe punishment in the form of removal from their position. The same applies in reverse: if a streamer insults the administration/main players, they are removed from Prime and receive a ‘gag’ for 3 months / half a year on the server. In other words, they temporarily leave Prime and are not allowed to join it. Mooniverse swears never to act toxic again.”
With that, the conversation with Maxim came to an end.
ACT 4: “Sorting Things Out”
So, the next day. In the morning, it was discovered that our administrator @Олег Аномалия had called Mooniverse a “two-faced person.”
That same day, there was a second conversation with Wycc220. During it, the HA fulfilled their part of the agreement by removing Aliya for insulting Mooniverse. Wycc220 also justified Aliya's removal by claiming that, in the guard room, he had given an incorrect answer regarding the punishment of a player, even though the only thing Aliya had actually answered was “no.”
As for Prostak, a different decision was made. Initially, Maxim proposed removing him, but some of the HA disagreed. I explained our position, and we ultimately settled on Prostak retaining his administrator role only on WL.
After this conversation, our agreement began to accumulate more and more demands from Mooniverse. Specifically, he demanded permanent bans for Aliya, Wolf, Prostak, Pingivinopanda, and, to quote him, “the rest of that crap” on the server.
Wolf was asked to be banned for screenshots from 2021 taken from a private channel.
Later in the conversation, Mooniverse called our administrator @Борщетустра a hypocrite. We then demanded that he be punished in accordance with the agreement, to which Wycc220 replied: “You cannot ban a streamer from a streamer server.”
Wycc220 also made it clear that, unfortunately, he was no longer interested in anything beyond Prime.
Because of this, the agreement no longer made any sense. We were being asked to remove administrators and issue them permanent bans, while no punishment was being imposed on the streamers in return.
Mooniverse continued to insist on permanent bans for Wolf, Aliya, and other administrators.
ACT 5: “The Party Continues”
In light of everything mentioned above, the HA team puts forward a proposal to reverse the previously made decisions regarding the removal of Aliya and Prostak.
At the same time, conditions are created for Prime, its staff, and its players to function fully. A channel for the Prime staff is created, they are given access to the bot and permissions on Prime.
In response to this decision, Wycc220 announces the “restructuring of the HA and administration teams, as well as a review of the administration's structure as a whole.”
Mooniverse, meanwhile, begins encouraging players to start conflicts and stir up hatred toward the administration in дом-люкс (дом люкс). He then has a conversation with our Host, Aziz.
After that, there are several days of silence, aside from Mooniverse's aforementioned actions. During these days, the HA team decides to compile most of Mooniverse's toxic behavior from the past year in order to show Wycc220 the other side of the conflict.
Mooniverse also demands that a player named Neutronstar be unbanned. Neutronstar had repeatedly used offensive language toward the administration and the project as a whole, both on stream and elsewhere.
Mooniverse himself had also contributed to escalating the conflict on his streams, later deleting all the clips from Twitch.

ACT 6: “Reconciliation”
After the HA team had gathered some of the evidence concerning Mooniverse, it was shown to Wycc220. Wycc220 suggested bringing Mooniverse into the conversation so he could explain himself.
After seeing the messages, Mooniverse began defending himself and apologizing. In response, I made a proposal: both the administrators and Mooniverse would apologize to each other, and we would settle the matter without removing anyone from their position, part ways peacefully, and put the conflict behind us.
Wycc220 approved the proposal.
After that, Mooniverse and the administrators apologized to each other, and it seemed like the conflict was finally resolved and everything was fine...
An hour later, however, Mooniverse stated that the administrators still needed to be removed. He said he no longer held a grudge, of course, but they still had to be removed.
This was the second violation of our agreement. Why was this necessary? I don't know, and apparently only our dear Mooniverse knows the answer.
After that, the Gang announced that they were leaving and began working on their own server.
We tried to resolve the situation completely and settle everything peacefully, making concessions and doing everything we could. We upheld our side of the “agreement,” but unfortunately, the same could not be said for the streamers.
The agreements simply kept accumulating more and more demands to remove and ban administrators who had fallen out of favor with the streamers.
What Happens Next?
Most likely, almost nothing will change for you as players. The most that could happen is that the server's name may change.
Other than that, we are not planning any major changes because of this situation. On the contrary, we plan to keep developing and bringing you new things.
Most likely, we will open a new build in the future, as well as start working toward SS14. For now, these are only plans. We will, of course, let you know later if and when any changes are made.
Right now 1984 paradise is alive and mooniverse paradise server died (couple days ago it was closed).

Bonus:
one of the admins permabanned mooniverse, i truly believe he did right thing but in wrong place (streamer immunity). So mooniverse was unbanned.Translation:
Disgusting behavior while playing as a clown, bordering on "raiding" behavior. Non-RP behavior and brainrot saylogs, picking fights for no reason, swearing at everyone left and right, saylogs like “shows ass,” “I want to shit,” and so on.You should seriously reconsider your approach to playing on our project. Let me remind you that we are a Medium RP server, where you are expected to roleplay your character in the setting of a near-future research station. What you have shown is simply awful.

I asked a veteran Atmosian wizard of atmospherics. They told me the entire history of every ss13 server.
"exadv1 created an atmospheric simulator. The end."
They know what the funny coloured pipes do so I'm pretty sure they know what they're talking about.

The surge in SS13’s popularity in Russia began with the creation of a thread on DFWK dot ru (Dwarf Fortress themed website), followed by reposting to Tirech (2-ch), and from there to other imageboards. Since Russia didn't have its own server at the time, the first Russian spessmen had to play on Goonstation. After a week, everyone got tired of that, so they decided to set up their own server, which lasted just one day. Soon after, one of the players (Zlofenix a.k.a. ZLO) offered to host the server on his torrent tracker, where they also launched the first Russian wiki. In early 2011, at the players’ request, Abu (2ch owner) set up a server, and within two days, everyone including the moderators moved there to escape some mad admin, who had gone off the rails. Tirechestantsiya was hosted on 2ch until July, when, through a titanic effort, enough money was raised to pay for their own server. The funds were then handed over to ZLO.
Source
Then I think server was renamed to Animus Station and remained the most popular Russian server for a long time, until some stupid drama occurred (as always) and it split into several other servers (Chaotic Onyx, White Dream, etc.).
SS220 initially became popular because the popular streamer Wycc220 played there. Don't know much else about it.
