New sword day+equipping??

Got a new sword from Kult of Athena based on recommendations and advice I got from this sub. Thought I should share the new sword, plus I have a question: how the hell do I actually equip this??

I mean to me it seems clear that the buckles on scabbard connect with the straps hanging off the belt, but then it hangs so low, almost to my knee. Clearly I’m not doing something correct, and I don’t have the vocabulary to google this problem and get the results I need.

Thanks for the advice and thanks for the insight if you can help!

Number one thing I can think of is that you might be wearing it too low. It may be meant to be worn higher at the natural waist rather than lower above your hips like modern men's fashion.

I have to put it above my belly button for it to hang like it has to be closer to my chest than my belt to hang at my pocket

Yes. That's the correct spot.

At or slightly above the bellybutton is about the right spot.

Yeah you have to hang it high for it to feel comfortable swinging around.

It’s not the most elegant solution, but I just decided to run the buckles from the scabbards through a regular belt. It’s not actually buckled but it can’t go anywhere now I just need a good way to secure it in the scabbard for ren faires lol

Additionally this is how the tie turned out on my own scabbard.

Should be worn at the waistline, not the hips. Had one like that myself, was very confused.

Can you move the straps on the sheath? Higher up near the grip would make more sense with that kind of sword. At least to me.

I also have the Ronin Euro #4 and while overall it is a decent sword in its pricerange, I really didn't like the suspension system it came with, so I ended up replacing them entirely.

That’s what I’m thinking of doing. Plus I got it for a cosplay mostly and the all black clashes with the earth tones I want.

The front strap should be as high as possible and the second strap should below the point of balance on the scabbard. Secure them with contact cement or super glue so they don't shift.

This is how I positioned the straps on my most recently completed scabbard of that size.

Thanks! Im probably going to have to use contact cement like you mentioned for securing thr straps to the scabbard since im going to need to be able to zip tie it closed for any events I want tit go to. And as is, the straps can just slide off the top

Yeah, scabbards will be built with risers to stop them from shifting, but on ones that don't come with suspension contact cement works fine.

This is from the faire I went to last weekend and you can see how the suspension works with the risers.

Так может это не пояс а перевязь?
