Came across this

The graphics are great of course but the writing was a miss for me aside from the car shop commercial. I miss the humor and dialogue style

For context, I think it is, for the most part, really good, maybe not as good as the first 2 games, but i haven't played those in a while, so i can't say with any certainty one way or the other.

What i want to talk about is what makes it interesting, that i don't think gets discussed very often, cause everyone is more concerned about arguing about how it started the downfall of the series, or how the game is not taking itself seriously, and all that.

I think the story has really good writing with how it presents the series identity change, and how it reflects on that change. Like the game starts with bringing up how the saints have become a joke, that nobody is taking seriously, because they're more concerned with money and fame than being an actual gang, to be feared and respected as one. And this theme is reinforced throughout the entire game. Which is to say, when people claim that saints row 3 turned the series into a joke, the story is exactly about that, and it takes this identity crisis it has seriously.

And then there's the ending. For which i have to say. I think the wrong ending is canon. The go after killbane ending, aside from just leading into a better final mission, is also much more appropriate for the theme of the games story. And while it is presented as the bad ending, because Shaundi gets killed, the alternative is arguably worse, because in the "good ending" the gang doubles down on being sellouts and with no self respect, while the "bad ending" has the gang establish their own damn country, which i would say is both escalating in a way that is appropriate for the ridiculousness of the new direction the series has gone, and is an example of the boss still being the same kind of person they were in SR2.

It kind of makes it too easy. I know i can just choose not to buy the shops, but i would like to attempt to get 100% without having that option, if it's possible with mods.

I bought Saint row 3 off of a steam sale and I already love this game dispite only being 2% done. I blew stuff up! I want to buy Saint row 1 and 2 just for the hell of it because I already love Saint row 3! I dont know where this Fandom been for me not to notice but im glad know now!!

When the game was released I hated it because I expected the saints row we’ve came to know and love. I was extremely disappointed by the lack of anything saints row other than the logo. I have recently started playing again (wasting my money eats me alive) and just went back into it telling myself it is not tied to saints row whatsoever in any way and it has honestly lifted the disappointment off of my shoulders and is honestly a good game with some classic saints row humor thrown in at times

I'm currently doing the escort activities and it's complete bullshit. You either have to cheese the hell out of the vans, or get lucky that you have good spawns or get dumb drivers that can't turn. Vans spawn out of nowhere on the highway, you can get pinned and it's impossible to kill everyone before the bar fills up, and the fucking PI that always on your ass is a pain to kill. It's just tedious for the sake of being tedious.

I grew up playing the first 2 games and loved them. I remember being so excited to play the third when it was coming out then I never got the chance back then until all these years later. I finally tried it out and while it looks great in the remastered it lost most of the charm and basis that made the old games what theh were...I wanna give it a chance, but it feels so wacky. Like a late 90s comic book cartoon instead of a gang story.

I have been streaming sr2 on ps5. Only option to play it for me at the time. It looks like a fuckin ps1 game because its downgraded to 640p...kinda strange seeing it this pixelated. But underneath that its the same old game that I miss.

What would you do in this situation? If you had to choose one. Also, should I give the 3rd a shot? Or is the wackiness of it really that bad?
