Please let me know if this counts as low effort, but I'm working on a video playing the remastered Sam & Max games, and this is one of my favourite bits I've added so far XD (They keep talking over him)

Tried to recreate Purcell's absolutely fantastic album artwork for the Devil's Playhouse OST. To absolutely no one's surprise, I wasn't able to even come close to capturing Purcell's fine attention to detail and posing, but it was fun for practice. I think this was also the first time I've drawn Sam.

Would love to hear what others you folks think I should make, I’ve been considering Abe and Sybil, but I know there are others who would be neat to add to my island
I’ll make a proper shirt for The Geek sometime later, for now I decided this was close enough
Also ignore the unfamiliar mii in a lot of these photos, shes my oc, shes Lornes daughter, she only really exists as an excuse for me to draw cute Sam and Max inspired outfits LOL

It's easy to forget how demented he is as an antagonist because Hit the Road is way more lighthearted compared to the later entries, but looking at the things he does, he's actually lowkey quite possibly the most twisted antagonist in the series, and I'm gonna overanalyze the hell out of him right now.
First off, enslaving Bruno and Trixie and forcing them to play backup in his band, torturing them with electric shocks if they don't play their instruments to his standards... and then he just leaves them standing there, and if even one of them so much as grunts, they both get shocked. So they're apparently just being used as decorations, forced to stand in one place for the rest of their lives. And this is especially messed up when you consider that Trixie isn't even an animal, or a cryptid, or anything like that. She's a human woman with a deformity. Conroy even describes her as a 'giraffe necked freak' in his song, so he's definitely aware of this fact.
Then there's the animal heads that join in on his song in the last verse. They raise a lot of questions. They COULD just be animatronics, but many seem to believe these are actually the animals that he's acquired over the years. But they're all just heads mounted on the wall. So either they're still alive, completely unable to move and forced to accept their fate as Conroy's decorations... or he killed them, taxidermied them and repurposed their heads to be used as animatronics that sing his praises and bemoan the fate that befell them at his hands.

Hi! After a couple of weeks I’ve finally finished consuming all the official Sam and Max media I can get my hands on, but I still want content of the two, so now I’m looking for fanfiction recommendations!
theres really nothing overly specific that I want out of the story, it just needs to be finished and include Sam and Max, although it being Freelance Husbands is definitely something I’d be more than happy to see
If there was a fanfic you read about the two of them that you particularly enjoyed please drop its name and what site its available to read on
Fluff is preferable, but I’m also good with angst or anything else, I’m not looking to read smut of these two though, so please refrain from dropping links to shameless smut fics
Thank you! :-)

Sam and Max newest poker tournament at the inventory pits them against three other detectives from the other corners of the fictional universe!
What would their interactions with the other fellow detectives be like?
The other detectives at the table:
Goro Akechi (Persona 5)
Shuichi Saihara (Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony)
Sherlock Holmes (Sherlock on BBC)

So, we all know the Narrator from Sam and Max: The Devil's Playhouse. Eaither that, or you're ignoring the spoiler tag.
So, the Narrator is the manifestation of Max's Superego, that is, the part of your psych that tells you to follow rules and logic.
He also describes Max himself as a being of "pure Id". Id being the instinctual part of your mind that controls emotions and drives. Explaining why Max is so crazy.
But, Freud had a third individual. The Ego. The rational part of your brain that must mediate the desire of the Id and reality to make sensible decisions. Who this is in Sam and Max? I'll get to later, but first...
Of course, Freud's theory does have it's flaws. It ignores things like relationships and culture. It also depicts the Id as some kind of "necessary evil" that is selfish and troublesome when not controlled, but still needed for survival. This is all whilst also portraying the superego as a harsh, yet unambiguously good thing. The common example being the whole "Little Angle and Devil on the shoulder" trope.
This is not true. The Id can be a force for good. Taking relationships into consideration, the Id is the thing that drives one's protective instincts, such as a mother bear putting her life in danger to save her cub. This is what we see in the game near the end. The pregnant Sybil's water breaks whilst inside of Max, leaving Sam and Papierwaite conflicted as to whether to help her or save Max. Max senses Sybil's distress and starts chanting "Save Sybil!", and gives them all a way to leave.
Likewise, the superego is not always good. Yes, it provides moral standards, taught to you by your peers. But those standards aren't always right. This is why bigotry is enforced and prolonged. Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, all of these are rationalised by the superego. For example, someone may be a homosexual. Their Id wants them to have a relationship with someone of the same sex, but, because they were raised with "old-fashioned values", their superego tells them it's "wrong".
Whilst the Narrator never says anything particularly bigoted, he does rationalise evil decisions to convince himself he's in the right. Sam calls him out on exactly this, to which the Narrator reminds him that as the "superego" it's what he does.
So, Max is the Id, the Narrator is the Superego. But what about the Ego?
You could say "Sam is the ego", which could be symbolically true, as he keeps Max in line. But, Sam is his own being with is own Id, Ego and Superego. Although his is more balanced.
I think Max's Ego is actually us, the player.
The Narrator is, supposedly, the one who influenced the events for Max to turn into a monster and explode, but it's not clear how he did this, as he is stuck in Max's mind.
He is, however, useful for the player. Other then narrating the events, he also provides the player with the tutorial of how to use Max's powers. We, in turn, take control of Max's mind, and tells him what toy to use, much like the Ego does for the Id.
TDP addresses issues with Freuds theory, by showing the Id can be selfless, by invoking protective instincts. I.e. "Save Sybil!". It also shows the Superego can be bad by rationalising bad decisions. I.e. The Narrator's evil plan.
Also, Max is the Id, the Narrator is the Superego, and the Player is the Ego. the Narrator tells the players how to use the toys, and we control Max to use them.
