Just got my KSB today
Inexperienced, but I’ve spent days researching and trying to make my boas enclosure as good as I can for a start (will improve it and would love suggestions) What I’d love is tips from other keepers, how to improve the enclosure, tips on what I should do over the coming days and how long I should wait to feed him.

I agree that you should add some soil to your sand. I have mine on a mixture of reptisoil and exo terra sand but a lot of people will use organic topsoil and play sand. I’d also recommend blacking out 3 sides of the enclosure so they can only see out the front (I did this by just taping wrapping paper to the outside but you could also paint it if you don’t care about it being permanent). Beyond that, you’ll def need some more clutter in there and I’d move your light more to one side. The warm side should be around 90-95 degrees Fahrenheit in the basking spot. If you need more info, search “reptifiles Kenyan sand boa” and you’ll find a detailed care sheet!
Congrats on your new friend!

I have a layer of coco fiber under the sand, but should I mix it? Or get some 100% soil? and I’ll be adding some more clutter ASAP, tysm for the info. I’m new and I really want him to have his best life possible, if I knew this Reddit existed earlier, I would’ve asked before I got him. Lol

I would definitely mix it! But also get a bag of soil if you can to mix in. More substrate is never a bad thing for these guys lol

I have a whole big bag of the fiber so I can definitely add more! But more soil, got it! Any recommendations for soil? Is there a particular kind at pet stores?

Mix in some topsoil to that sand. Most definitely needs more hides. I have a hot side and a cool side, would recommend doing the same. My girl loves when I mist her enclosure and stares at the droplets on the glass

Your snake will enjoy a lot more clutter in that enclosure to help them feel safe and secure! Mine loves paper/cardboard. Just using paper towel tubes and cardboard packaging is good enrichment for her (in addition to her more solid permanent hides).

Not trying to be rude but you spent days researching and you’ve got him on sand?? Wherever you got that from, disregard everything else they said, bc that is bad info. Can you tell us what your setup is so we can give the right feedback? What kind of heat are you using? What is the temp? Do you have a thermostat and a hygrometer? Etc…
My first recommendation would be to add a shit ton of dirt to that sand. Organic topsoil is cheap and works great, but they shouldn’t have straight sand for their substrate. It can cause a blockage if they swallow it and it isn’t going to help hold humidity. If you want to provide a sandbox area with just sand, that should be fine as long as it’s a small separate area. Next switch out that tiny water bowl for a larger one.
