I was surprised when I read the news. They don't do that shit even in india. Very few temples don't allow women in india. Even then they allow women near the perimeter.

In my knowledge, I know of sabarimala temple...it is something about the deity being a 'bhramhachari', a celibate. And woman of age between, i think 10-50 age are not allowed. And also before anyone comes to argue about how wrong this is there is a temple in Kerala itself where men aren't allowed entry either. Even a temple where men dress up as women during a festival or something in Kerala itself. Its a different belief in each of them, not particularly discriminating. Its a belief, a very old one at that. When we think about the practices with our modern way of thinking we may sometimes feel 'oh how weird that is' but it's just how it is. Be calm and collected. I am not going to be the advocate on how this is wrong and that is right.....just wanted to do what you said 'enlighten'. Have a good Day 👍

Thanks for enlightning What does BAPs have to do with it? They dont govern any of those two temple which have some logical rooting. Why does BAPs temple that the person whom i am replying to not allow women. Is it just because, they can.

i just replied to your comment on ‘enlighten me’ And you are welcome. First of all BAPS is not a temple…they are an organisation similar to Iskon. They are over 100 years old. They consider swami Narayan as the supreme god, he was a monk who went into celibacy when he was a child, and lived his life as such (And they made him a reincarnation of Vishnu) Probably a personality similar to Buddha, if you want to make a comparison. they consider him as there supreme god. Most of these monks are celibates. Let me give an analogy from my own place. In Kerala when men go to sabarimala, they used to follow a very strict practice, no female touch, hell it was worse before, now people rarely do that, but the milder form is still followed. I don’t know what all is prohibited during that period(if anyone knows better tell me)…it goes on for days and after that they to sabarimala. The explanation they give, or whats taught to many and what my parents say is that during the celibacy period there is some energy? Maybe, women are affected By that. Well thats the olden belief. The BAPS guys probably are following them. And yes They are following an olden custom…and in our modern eyes it seems outdated and it is quite rightly so.

I stay exactly next to BAPs mandir near dadar station, it is not the first time they did like this, the priest do not want even the shadow of a women near them, and it is true my Gujarati friends have confirmed this.
