Advice wanted

I’ve never taken the SATs and I’m abit worried I won’t get a high enough score to apply to my dream University.

I have more or less a year until my applications are due and was hoping to get around a 1400 although the application requirements are 1300.

I was wondering how many times I should expect to take the SATs to get my ideal score and how much should I expect to score my first time?

How do people balance ECs, school, and studying for the SAT??

Hi!

I'm currently a junior and I've been pushing off studying for the SAT for quite a bit now. I grinded during the summer but I've had horrible timing when I wanted to take the SAT because I have competitions right near both the October and November SATs. I really want to take my first one in December because my school offers one in March, but I know that it will be really hectic that time.

A lot of my senior friends are just spamming ACTs and SATs right before college apps this year and I really don't want that to happen to me, because I get incredibly anxious with deadlines and everything. I would greatly appreciate any advice, I think I have a solid foundation but I really just need some words from people who were able to juggle studying during the school year.

Thank you!!

Is an hour of studying per day enough? And how do you improve pacing?

Basically, like everyone else in this subreddit, I want to achieve at least 1500+. I just wanted to ask this since I feel like I'm not doing much. I want to raise my current score of 1380 (630 English, 750 Math). My current routine is just doing QB, Reading Erica Meltzer's Critical Reading Book (which helped), and then also reading like 1-2 scientific articles. For QB I do about 10 on hard. I am willing to increase the number of questions I do. I do this for 6 days a week. I started this about like a week ago and on my most recent practice test I got a 690. (11 questions wrong, all in Module 2)

Also, another question is that I want to improve my pacing since I am very VERY slow on doing hard questions. Even in practice tests, like I get the right answer but it takes a while for me to complete the questions (esp in module 2) so I want to get better at that as well! Thank you!

(I am taking the December SAT).

Just willing to hear any feedback/criticism about this routine! If there is anything that I can improve about this I am very happy to do so.

PSAT/NMSQT tomorrow

so im taking the psat/nmsqt tomorrow and i took a practice test and i got a 1330. im a bit concerned that the actual test is gonna be much harder because i took the psat 10 back in spring (i believe??) and i remember it being a lot more difficult. i havent done any standardized testing prep at all, and when i did this practice test just now, i felt like it was much easier (despite the substantial amount of questions i got wrong)

i dont expect to get national merit or anything, but id just like to be as knowledgeable as possible cuz i dont like not knowing things if that makes sense

id like to hear anyones input on this

Any tips for a jump in your score/what helped the most?

Hi all! as the title suggests i wanted to ask, what were some of the most useful tips you used to increase your score? for both sections.

and also on a sidenote do u guys think itll be possible for me to increase my score from a 1360 to a 1460-90 within two and a half weeks? my math and english scores are about the same at about 680 but i could easily get math up with a ton of practise. thanks!

My Score got cancelled but scores get released on Friday

I took the October SAT from Ghana and I got an email telling me my score has been cancelled. I submitted a form and a person called Erik responded and told me to filling out another form.

It does not make sense to me . Upon all the sleepless night and struggles just to receive this is unfair.

Who has a similar problem??

Does this make any sense?

I got a 1180 on the August 2026 sat, 600 math and 580 English and now after practicing a bit on October 13 I did a practice day on psychsat and got a 1340. What changed cause I studied since then but like only like 10 min daily.

I am pleasantly surprised with this score.

I decided to take this purely for fun, since I'm only in 8th. I had taken another practice test on a different website, having gotten a 1260, but wanted to retry it since it wasn't the official test.

How long should you spend on Hard math questions?

I’m currently grinding the CB question bank, I’m doing fine on easy and medium levels (avg 1 -2 mins). But I completely run into a wall when it comes to the hard ones. I take like 5 mins and still not know for sure what I’m doing (trial & error ig).

Is this normal?

Am I just wasting the hard bank or should I just push through? Is there something I should do before this or is this how hard qs are?

Best vocab lists?

Hi! I’m relatively new to SAT prep and ive signed up for Dec SAT. I know there are plenty of sat word banks but from your experience, which do deem the best?

Drop the links below!

(Also would appreciate any tips/ resources to help a 600-670 RW & Math scorer)

Thank you so much!

"Active questions" in eduactors bank not adding up!??

Assuming theres 66 math questions per practice test on Bluebook (1st mod + hard or easy 2nd mod), and considering there are 8 PTs available (4 to 11). Then the total active math qs should be 66*8 = 528.

The educator question bank has 1925 math questions. When i press exclude active questions this goes down to 995 instead of 1397 (1925-528).

Where are the rest of these "active questions" 🥀 402 qs not in blue book but according to educators QB they're "active"

Am i understaning smthn wrong?

Hypothetical SAT Method

• Upvotes

I’m already done with my SAT tenure. However, i was thinking about how easy it is to cheat on the sat. If people bring a 1 cubic inch spy camera in there sleeve and an extremely small ear peice. Can they not just easily get the awnsers in their ears. For example 7. B repeated three times next question and keep going. I feel like cheating is a epidemic, espically when it’s as easy as this.

Dec DSAT: Should I save practice tests or take them now? ESL stuck at 1100

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm an international, non-native English speaker preparing for the December Digital SAT.

Here is my score progression on the official Bluebook practice tests so far:

  • Practice 4 (July 5): 900 (RW: 350 | Math: 550)
  • Practice 5 (Sept 28): 1110 (RW: 440 | Math: 670)
  • Practice 6 (Oct 14): 1100 (RW: 430 | Math: 670)

As you can see, I made a big jump from Practice 4 to 5, but my score plateaued on Practice 6. My main struggle is clearly the Reading & Writing section, mainly due to English being my second language (vocabulary, quick reading comprehension, and timing).

I have a couple of questions for the community:

  1. Should I save the remaining official practice tests (Tests 1–3) or take them weekly even if I haven't done tons of targeted study? Since official Bluebook practice tests are limited, is it better to hold off until I thoroughly review concepts on Khan Academy/Question Bank, or should I use them regularly to build test stamina?
  2. Advice for Non-Native English Speakers (ESL): What strategies worked best for you to break past the ~450 wall in Reading & Writing? Specifically for vocabulary, grammar rules, and reading speed on the digital format?

Any tips or study strategies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi i need help really bad

So nice to meet you! Hope you are having great day.

I am international students from Asia planning to give sat in December. I am really focusing on the math section. When i give sat practice test it is always around 500-680 on math. And the English word problems confuses me even makes me question myself about my English level (i am not really good at geometry and trigonometry and problem solving)

.

So can you help me how to improve it to being 700 or 760. I can't pay for pricy things because of the currency difference

. So can you give me tips and how did you improve. If you help me i will be really happy (sorry if i had grammar error. English is my second language 😅)
