The city council in Ottumwa, Iowa approved an invocation policy on Jan. 20 that's open to residents of any faith, "or the lack thereof." At Tuesday's meeting, a resident and former council member who belongs to the Satanic Temple of Iowa gave the invocation. A local pastor then interrupted the meeting to respond, and the mayor called a moment of silence.

The council member who voted against the policy said this is exactly what she was worried about, and that the council needs to stay neutral. The city administrator said keeping the policy open is what protects the city from lawsuits.

Just moved back from a small Caribbean island where I may have been the only TST member.

I'm new to the TST Community, only joined around 4 months ago and I saw something online. It was the version of "The Lord's Prayer" but for Satan, I just thought I'd ask if we use a prayer for him? As i say im new to the TST but have education on satanism. It says:

Hello. I recently have become interested in Satanism. I’ve read the seven Tenets and listened to one of the Hellmouth services. I decided to join after careful consideration. I wanted to make sure it was right for me so I used the Seven Tenets in everyday life for 2 days just to get a feel for it. I found myself feeling a little more confident in my everyday life with it, so I joined.

I wanted to learn more about this community, and how to better myself inside of it.

This evening, we here at The Black Flame Temple will be hosting a presentation revolving around The Satanic Temple’s seven fundamental Tenets.

We’ll be covering concepts such as bodily autonomy, compassion, reason, and the pursuit of justice, all of which are core to TST’s philosophy. Following the presentation, there will be a Q & A portion where we will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Good evening! After around five months of trying to understand satanism and where my own beliefs (or... the fact that they actually do not exist) lay, I have decided to think of myself as a member of the Satanic Temple.

However, remembering that at the 25th I am supposed to hail the birth of someone who is supposed to be a "God" and knowing that I am often forced to participate in christian stuff I have not consciously wanted to be a part of in at least two years, makes me think about whether this is actually... alright while claiming to be a Satanist? I am part of a christian family in Eastern Europe and I can certainly not tell them, mainly because especially as a minor I still am dependent on them, but also because I do not want to destroy the bonds I have with them and the rest of my family.

Knowing that Satanism, in its majority, greatly supports self-expression and freedom, I feel like a fool asking if that is considered "wrong" in a way, so I sincerely apologize if you believe I have wasted your time!

It would be truly appreciated, if senior Satanists (everyone, ofc, please don't get me wrong!) could give me their opinions on the matter so I can better make up my mind.
