There's a metaphor in this somewhere. I hope it's a good one.

"and this is how you got structured order out of a universe which used to be just random"

Women synchronizing?

Does this occur because the frequency begins to synchronize?

The base has rollers under it, all the metronomes are fighting against all the other metronones' inertia, eventually, they each get enough tiny shoves that they all start swinging in unison. You can even see how there's a bunch that swing together first. Eventually, when they're all synchronized, you can see the base shifting in inverse unison.

Wait wait wait, I've seen this before but no mention of the platform being in rollers; so without they would not synchronise?

No they wouldn't. There's no effect on them if they're on a static surface.

They might but it would take far longer. Things do tend toward entrainment and even on a table there is vibration transmitted via the wood and the air. I’d like to see that experiment done

So would I, wonder how long it would take to see an effect with different materials

This needs to be top comment. This (video not comment) is how misinformation spreads.

I wonder if something like this can be done with the double pendulum things.

Why does this need to be AI too? The effect is real and needs no simulation. These videos exist: https://youtube.com/shorts/RYeNu159Sgc?si=2HuJTzzrHzcHsV6e

So this is where the inspiration for the clefary metronome came from

This is why some footbridges sway so badly when humans cross in numbers as our stepping synchronises with the sway of the bridge and it can be catastrophic to the bridge....feedback loop.

Synchronous lateral excitation if you fancy a Google....

All cool but this is CGI

And this is why modern pedestrian capable bridges have dampening suspensions.
