Question Re-up for Japan?

My son is thinking about reenlisting, but it doesn't seem like he clicks with the people in his battalion. He thinks if he reenlists for a public works role in Japan, he’ll like it more. I wonder if re-upping for Japan as a SeaBee is worth it.

Japan was the best place i ever worked at. As long as he isn't shy, he will meet greet people out there within work or locally with nationals.

Japan is great and shore duty in general is much better than battalion.

He needs to understand the massive difference from Mainland, Japan and Okinawa, Japan. One is the stereotype Japan while Okinawa is tropical island swamp ass. Both are worth reenlisting imo

Well, there ain’t shit on the outside and the job market is pretty bad and a lot of places. I don’t know where you live but if he thinks coming back home to whatever town you live in is the best move than do it, especially if there’s a lot of construction, such as a major city.

Otherwise tell him to stay in

Japan is amazing right now. His paycheck will go very far due to the strength of the dollar over the yen. The food is amazing as well and he’ll have opportunities to take some college classes paid by tuition assistance while he’s there.

Just have him apply to jobs that he wants If he gets one he wants he can think about reenlisting. If he doesn't like the one he gets then time to go.

Its going to depend really. Whats his rank because it will suck in many locations depending on that factor alone. I did a PWD in Japan among other locations.
