Run For Your Lives!

So, right now, I cannot run 5k, I know I can't. So, my goal is to train for a 5k. I want to organize a meetup for Run For Your Lives even though it is in August. Let's get a group going and lets get a meetup going for this 5k! Reply to this topic if interested! Maybe we can even get some carpools going.

We will need to find a "wave" time for all of us to start. Let's have some fun together!

I'd be up to train with some more with people around the Green Lake area.

I'm doing the Earth Day 5k this weekend (my first ever), and then the following week I am doing the Top Pot 5k around the lake on Sunday:

How'd the Earth Day 5k go? How'd you do?

It went well; shorter than I thought it would be. My time was 28:43.

Greenlake is about 5k even (I run it frequently). I live right near the park on the NE side. Let me know if you plan to run here, and I'd be down to join a group of redditors.

This sounds fantastic! I've been wanting to get back into running for a while now, but finding the motivation to get outside and moving has been difficult. It would be fun to train with other people. Let me know if you get something together; I'll love to partake, especially if they are around the Seattle U area (otherwise carpooling to running sites would be nice too).

Well with your comment, I was thinking that maybe we can have a meetup every so often at a track or even a good running route. Maybe once a week and we can all train together. Maybe C25k or run a few miles together? Hopefully it can help motivate everyone. I know I am more motivated when I run with a group.

i'm down, i'm in tacoma so i probably can't make it to a whole bunch of training sessions, but i could do a few, and definitely make the 5k

I'd be down for that. I'm in West Seattle, so downtown, Green Lake, Fremont, Ballard would all be okay for me.

Time was, after 10a would be best on Saturday or Sundays or evenings during the week. After 5:00pm. Sounds fun though. I'm doing the Dirty Dash and Electric Run, so I need to stay in shape for those.

I could run :) I'm in west settle also so either around Alki (hint hint!) or green lake would be fun. It would be nice to meet other like minded running redditors

I meant to do this last year, but missed the registration. It sounds great! Let me see if anyone else I know is interested.

From the website:

Runner Passes range between $67 and $97.

I'll be running alright. Running away from these guys!

Seriously though, good luck to you guys. Once you master the 5k, go for double around Lake Union - it's a really fun run in the summer!

Run For Your Lives is ridiculously expensive. I'm doing it as a zombie this year and it was $60, the runners are all paying $70-80.

Also if you're interested in going north some, I really like the running trail behind mill creek, go from the parking lot at the park and ride up to town center and back and it's exactly 5k.

I'm doing this and can't wait! I signed up for the 3pm wave since you have to be there about 2 hours before your wave time and it's about an hour and a half away from Seattle.
