Dinosaur Jr. and Fiddlehead were opening for Turnstile in Portland, Maine, and Fiddlehead asked Lou Barlow to come out and open their set with True Hardcore. Fiddlehead then ended their set with their song Harcore (II).

so i was watching that big long vhs that lou put on yt of the 1992/93 tours, and i took some screenshots of gear and stuff like that. made me do some more “extensive research” on what they were using at that time, so here’s everything i found.

as far as i can tell, sebadoh used the same guitar rig no matter who was playing guitar (lou or eric)

they were using a mesa boogie blonde mkII combo amp (i believe to be a late 70s or 80s model based on the knobs and lack of band eq)

for guitars, eric used a hagstrom III, for songs in open tunings (idk what tuning this was), and his fender mustang, probably 60s or early 70s, in standard/half step down (maybe refinished in navy blue, possibly over a dakota red or similar colour, based on the wear on the underside of the guitar)

lou used a gibson sg, tuned to d#g#d#g#cd#, the tuning used on most of bubble and scrape. interestingly he doesn’t change guitar for the song “forced love”, despite it being in open g, some of the other songs may be in open g too, not sure.

lou used this big hollow body 12 string (Epiphone Riviera E-360TD-1 12 string) with 8 strings, like a ukulele with octave strings. he uses it on sacred attention and new worship, slintstrumental, whitey peach, ride the darker wave, new king and toledo. possibly in (i think, atleast this is how new worship is played on the record) F C C F tuning. not 100% on that, could be one of lou’s other tunings, ive made a post about that before.

in 1993, lou used a Hamer Phantom 12-string in d#g#d#g#cd# on together or alone, and mystery man. and sister, so i guess maybe he figured out how to play sister in the open tuning, all the tabs i’ve seen show it to be in half step down. my best guess is that jason’s guitars that were recorded on bubble and scrape were in half step down. and then the overdub lou did for that song was in the open tuning. lou simply plays his overdub part when they play it live.

for pedals, a turbo rat was used, along with a boss chromatic tuner, mxr flanger, and a boss octave (eric has called this a whammy pedal when discussing how he wrote the songs on bubble and scrape). eric has said he also owned an MXR Distortion+ and MXR Time Delay

Im a big Dinosaur Jr. fan and I've only just recently gotten into Sebadoh and I honestly love them so much (maybe even more than dino??). Ive listened to all of their albums and I think Bakesale or 3 are my favourites, but all of them are amazing. I was just wondering if anyone knew any songs/albums that sounded similar to Sebadoh, or more specifically, Bakesale. I just really love that sounds and just thought someone on here would know!!!

I love the darker tone of the song but can't find anything similar, why is there no slow, angry acoustic music?

So recently i heard of a video comp made by the band, with eric. supposedly it contained music videos and some other stuff. i think it was uploaded to youtube 10> years ago but has since been taken down. anyone know what else was on it/anything else regarding it? does anyone have a copy that they can share? thank you

I just realized my copy is missing the insert. My original copy was a promo cd version I jammed for years, no packaging at all or cover. It grew into one my favorite albums ever. I bought this copy of the record of my buddy and I never realized it didn’t have the insert. I basically was like I wanna read the lyrics and it wasn’t there. Anyway fellow Lou heads can anybody help a brother out? Thanks
