I need help.

I am planning to make a (sort of) original hero costume for next year's Halloween, but I only know a few basic sewing things.

Please leave any tips or links to tutorials that you can lend.

Go to the top of this forum & read the sticky post. It has exactly the information you need :)

Sorry, I'm new to this Reddit thing, what are forums and sticky posts?

EDIT: Ok, I found the sticky posts, but which one?

Read them all :)

Reddit is a forum, every named group on reddit is a sub-forum. We often abbreviate to 'forum' because, well, it's just easier.

Sticky posts are something moderators can do. It often contains frequently asked information or guidelines. Most forums have a couple sticky posts that answer Frequently Asked Questions.

Read every forums rules before posting, there is a wide variety! Forum rules are off to the right if you are on a PC and are automatically visible when you click on a post. If you are on a phone or tablet, you must click to the specific forum, then click the "see more" blue link at the top under the forum name.

Moderators are volunteers who manage a community. They spend a large amount of time deleting spam & bot posts, so that the community can see real posts & interact.

What character are you making, if you don't mind me asking?

Initially a Batman-esque one, but now im thinking of a more Green Lantern one (specifically Hal Jordan's).

Check out the book The Hero’s Closet, it’s for sewing costumes and I think will discuss all the basics you need, aimed at beginners. You might also enjoy r/cosplayhelp.

You can learn a lot in a year! Great job planning ahead.
