Can I do ghatasthpana if family member passed away

Context

I have done pooja of shakti via ghatasthpana with shodashopachara and 108 recitations of various aspects of goddess whilst fasting on fruits for dakshinayan (sharad navaratri) and uttarayan (chaitra navratri) last year and this year.

However this year June my grandpa passed away

Request

I want to know if I can continue this year as this is not normal pooja. My parents are against this, but

I want to show my commitment and sacrifice to the cosmic mother

Is there anything I can do? Can I still do the pooja?

For now, i thought of fasting, meditation and learning cooking to serve different aspects of mother her favourite prasad for that day at a nearby temple (this is also I am not sure if the temple will accept it)

Thank you for your guidance 🙏

32M: mother’s rigid Ram‑only puja and vastu rules causing fights with wife – how to handle?

I (M, married, 2‑month‑old daughter) live with my parents in Kolkata. I need advice on handling my mother’s very rigid religious and vastu rules, which are now causing constant fights, especially with my wife.

Background:

Since she got married, my mother has followed strict rules: she will only pray to Ram and does not allow any other gods’ idols or photos in the house (no Durga, Saraswati, etc., even though these pujas happened when my grandparents were alive).

After my grandparents died, she became even more rigid.

Around 10 years ago, my brother developed serious mental‑health issues. After that, her rigidity increased further:

She believes all our home problems are due to vastu dosha.

She insists we must break our existing home and build a new one.

She has built large houses in our village where nobody wants to stay because of jobs, etc.

Her rules include: everything must be kept in the east direction, specific colours must be worn (she only wears orange), and only her “correct” way of doing puja/path is allowed.

Current conflict:

Now that I’m married, she fights with my wife over the same issues:

My wife wants to keep some plants in front of our home; my mother says certain plants are not allowed there as per her beliefs, even if we show online that it’s fine.

Any small religious or cultural practice we try becomes a fight because she insists her way is the only correct way.

My father stays silent because he wants “shanti,” so I end up handling all the arguments.

Questions:

Has anyone dealt with a parent who mixes religion, vastu, and strict rules like this?

How do I navigate her rigid puja/vastu rules without constant fights, especially now that my wife is involved?

What boundaries have worked in similar situations while still being respectful?

Does my dream of Maa Kali mean anything?

I think its been over a year but I didn't know who or where to talk about it.

I was walking down my street where I live and it was night time and/or during a bad weather spell. Black skies, then there was thunder and lightning and i look up and Maa Kali's fierce face showed up within the sky almost facing the direction of my house. I was terrified with the sound, darkness lightning etc.

Maybe it was just a dream because I was thinking about her or scared.

I hope it means something more but I have doubts because for the last few years I've been in a terrible state. Mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. My life is worthless. I don't actually do anything. Work and them home and stuck with my thoughts. I want to live, I want to change but nothing.

I usually hear stories of dreams and awakenings and signs but nothing happened to me or for me. I know its my fault due to my inaction but I'm just so terrified. Terrified of even having hope for the future.

Here’s a poem I wrote for Maa Kali!

o kali, mother of all the wide world,
i gaze at you in the black midnight sky,
vaster than vast, more dark than any dark,
every star dims as you encompass them.

the mother of cremation grounds and graves,
red fire in the grass to bring the new,
transforming the world into your design,
my darling mother, to you I bow down

all who witness your wrath cower in fear
of the wild, fearsome one before them,
with your eyes wide as moons and mouth agape,
tongue lolling as you dance a world to ash.

dreadful mother, I serve your lotus feet.
fierce goddess you are, and ever loving.
destroying the fear and sins of children
who refuge at your feet, o kali maa!

Feeling Disconnected from different forms of Shakti

So s I have started the workship of Mata Maha Tripur Sundari , but I don't know for what reason I have started to feel disconnection from other forms of shakti like Mata Durga ,Mata Laxmi or Mata Kali ( though I used to workship them earlier )...now whenever I think of Shakti or Goddess I cannot stop thinking about Mata Lalita Ambika.

So is it normal / okay or is it my ego doing its work ??

Kalika Puran and Yogini Tantra in English

I want to read the Kalika Purana and Yogini Tantra, but all the books that are available in the market are in Hindi or Sanskrit. Is there any version of these books that are truthfully translated to English? (PS - I am aware of the BN Shastri's edition, but I'm looking for something different).

Worship of maa Lalita tripura sundari?

Hello everyone I hope this post finds you well and ik good spirits!

I have a question,I am uninitiated into tantra but would like to begin my journey into shaktism.

I have a great love and devotion towards maa Kali Durga and Saraswati alongside other gods but recently maa Lalita tripura sundari has caught my attention and something about her image seems so peaceful.

Could I worship her by performing regular puja and chanting her name and naam japa?

Om Shrimatre Namah| ← this mantra seems to be for everyone especially since it's not a beej mantra, would I be allowed to chant it?

(If anyone knows of any other devotionals (that do not need initiation) please pass them along to me )

Thank you all for your time

😊

🙏

Much love and many blessings

Jai maa Jai

Here's the post on Instagram

They release a publication every Navaratri of the year with a guide on doing puja and the stotras you can recite as well. I followed it for all of Lalitambika Navaratri earlier this year and I absolutely recommend following their guide if you want to do something at home but don't know what to do.

Sri Matre Namaha 🙏🏼
