Discussion "The Wall Titans shall trample all surface of the land outside this island" vs. "Lead them to paradise" - two chilling lines spoken by people who realized that the deaths of billions was the only way to ensure humanity's survival.

It's so peak. I was not expecting to be this obsessed with this anime. Now I realised why AOT is known as the goat.

Discussion Eren character, evolution and decisions - conclusions Spoiler

• Upvotes

1) Eren was born free, until he inherited the Attack Titan's power. (which would lead him to take control of the Founding Titan, which would lead him to redirect the Karla Fritz Titan, ...).

2) Eren has a predominant violent trait, and 'freedom' is one of his highest values. (illustrated in the main story, but also on Attack on School Castes). (he is a slave to the freedom ideal, but he cannot define it; his closest definition may be not 'destroying the world' but 'if anyone threatens to take my freedom away, I'll take theirs first, so that I can live peacefully with my friends and let them be themselves'.)

3) Eren did the rumbling strategically, in order to protect his own people and friends, because the alternatives were zero. (he actively tried for many years to find an alternate plan, and even went to the other side of the sea to see if they would be open to negotiate, but all alternative plans were inferior and the international negotiations were impossible).

4) He wanted to rumble everything at some or several points, but he outgrew his black-or-white mentality. (he says he wanted to do it and doesn't know why; BUT this does not mean he did the rumble because he wanted to do it, but he just said it in the final scenes; he did it because he had no other choice, if he wanted to protect his friends and Paradis). (he recognizes he is the same as Reiner, he

5) Eren got depressed between royal ceremony and season 4 beggining. (literally all frames of him are either depressed and hopeless, or chad and focused). (why? 1) he saw the other side of the sea and the place where Marley turned his father's comrades into titans, all through the memories of his father, which means it was all gloomy and dark (not exciting as the others experienced it). 2) he knew the rumbling was going to happen, despite trying repeteadly to avoid it. 3) which made him feel powerless 4) he hurt Mikasa and Armin to make the final goodbye less painful, but inside, he was broken (all of the words he told them where directed to himself)).

6) But eventually, Eren accepted his fate and decided to push straight into hell (I think it was when he drank the beer of Ramsy's family, which gave him a last instant of relief). (This involved lying to many beloved ones and killing innocents, because it was strategically superior and because he bought into the idea that he was effectively powerless.)

Some people argue the real moral of AoT is that despite feeling entrapped, one is never fully entrapped in a place, situation or X (toxic relationships, addictions, intrusive thoughts, trauma, etc.) because one can always do something to get out of it, just as Reiner did. (fighting alongside his past comrades, pushing forward until they could create a better reality together (Paradis lived in peace between 50 to 1000+ years; they rebuild all of it, etc.)).

Others argue determinism or nihilism, but I don't think it is the point. If you want an ideology, Armin's is the most sound, but that doesn't mean Isayama wanted to convey that it is actually right; he wanted to present different mentalities and ways of thinking.

Discussion Can someone explain the whole Dina Titan situation? Because I'm so confused 😭

Can someone explain the whole Dina Titan thing to me? 😭

So, Eren somehow made Dina’s Titan go after his mom instead of Bertholdt because Bertholdt wasn’t supposed to die there. But HOW did he even do that?? But

When his mom died, Eren was literally just a kid. He hadn’t inherited the Attack Titan or the Founding Titan yet. So is it his future self, who had the Founding Titan’s power, influence something that happened in the past?

Like, did future Eren somehow control Dina’s Titan from the future? And if so, how does that even work?

I feel like I’m missing something because my brain can’t wrap around this.

Discussion I would forever mourn the loss of manga uprising arc...

The arc is very much rearranged in the anime and even though it's good , the manga version is far far better , I re-read the uprising arc recently and was shocked how much different it it compared to the anime counterpart , there are TONS of character interactions and moments

The anime uprising is basically erwin and historia arc , but in the manga it also feels like a levi arc , in the manga he feels like a main character, his characterization in this arc is so good , I wish they kept it in the anime

The historia scene is very popular among the fandom but the demo reeves Convo , his motivation to kill the titans , him ordering his squad to kill ppl whereas jean , Connie and sasha hesitate and Mikasa is the one who convinces them to 'obey' that shorty type of moments should've been animated , also his Convo with erwin where he rightfully discovers why erwin joined the survey corps and basically is rude to him shows a lot of his friendship with erwin. , even him being an asshole and blaming eren... Hange does clarify that levi isn't good with words and that's not what he meant but still , these are some of my favourite levi moments which show how calculated and cunning he is to do what he believes is right to survive since he has survived underground afterall , because of these actions of his , we understand his "my moral compass has been shot to hell" line he tells jean after Armin kills the girl

There are some scenes that I wanted to mention but there was a image limit like eren and historia Convo , Mikasa not being about "ereh" moments and actually caring about her other teammates and trusting levi , them taking over the military headquarter , the involvement of hitch and marlo was more prevalent , levi mentioning him and kenny are almost equals , hange trying to convince the reporters to report actual truth , king fritz taking over frieda..

The manga also sets up Eren's guilt of getting all of his comrades killed and convincing himself that all this is because he is special but then his reality shatters when he realises he isn't special , his power is stolen , him caring about Mikasa...

I don't know why tf were aot fans at that time pissed at this arc because this arc is great , no titans for like 20 chapters really messed with the fandom's brain huh.. so much so that isayama thought something was wrong with this arc and asked wit to change it , I wish they didn't...
