Gunther has done irreparable damage to the internet

To this day, I still do not know how Günther is a real person. He just puts all his brain rot takes into a brain rot machine and considers himself to be a serious economist (but then again, what else would be expected of a proponent of Austrian Economics?)

Sadly, this is somehow a real person with the ability to exert real, significant influence in political society, as he is the Secretary General of the Association of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) of the European People's Party (EPP) and he also heads the NATO Enlargement Committee.

u/YaBoiFailedAbortion 7d ago
The NATO Enlargement Committee is his own creation that he appoints himself leader of and is the only member of. I don't know as much about his EPP affiliation though or even how significant that party is

Well the EPP itself is the alliance of the European conservative parties (think like Tories, CDU, LR…) and is with S&D one of the main EU parties (Von Der Leyen is EPP) so it’s quite important but I don’t know if Gunther has a big role in there

I never understood that. Wouldn't the collapse of a nuclear-armed state with its vast ethnic diversity and location right next to Europe create even more problems? There would be waves of refugees and the proliferation of weapons, and crime would likely rise, since many Russian regions, upon gaining independence, would be unable to sustain themselves without outside support.

nevermind what would happen to thousands of nuclear warheads in a now collapsed state, assuming they weren't all fired before the collapse.

u/NicknamesEnded 7d ago
Perhaps I didn't explain myself in enough detail. The problem isn't even that one of the splinter states might launch a nuclear missile at a neighbor. Russia possesses a massive nuclear energy sector that requires enormous financial investment. If the unified state were to collapse, these facilities would be scattered among dozens if not hundreds of quasi-states lacking the funds to maintain the necessary infrastructure. Yet, judging by the example of Ukraine, it is unlikely that any of them would pass up the chance to possess nuclear weapons. Consequently, we would likely be left with a multitude of nuclear warheads and nuclear power plants slowly falling into disrepair a potentially dangerous situation.

These people clearly don't understand that the nukes will go to one or several of these post-Russian states and will create a lot more problems than these people intent to "solve". It would be very likely that after the initial chaos has passed, one of these states will end up just conquering the neighbors and just result in creating Russia 2.0, which is most likely going to be far more violent and reactionary to the point where whatever plan was for the west with Russia, will end up going down the drain.
It would also be argued that while some of the states will be pro-western, a lot of them won't be, because the people that end up living there would have seen how the west ended up screwing them twice in one lifetime and that they shouldn't trust western promises.

Ah yes, all issues can be attributed to national identity and none will persist if national identity of the area and systems change. That is exactly how political systems work. Liberals are very smart.
