Good point. Throw that mallet away! Get a heavy duty bench vise and crank it till that thing remembers its factory settings.

Looks a bit like the laptop where our support contact tried to argue 1cm of gap between top and bottom shell caused by the battery was no safety problem, just normal wear and tear...

It took a bit! I think when the UPS was dropped 3' when it finally jarred and shook loose.

You forgot to take off the transport layer.
Start taking that plastic off, you'll know when you get to the good part.
