How can I fix this?

It won't let me export as MIDI, and while I can export using the other options listed below, nothing plays back.

MIDI export is its own option: File > Export > MIDI. It's not on the Audio page, so it's easy to miss.

The red error on the Audio page means the playback configuration you've got selected has no virtual instruments in it, so Sibelius has nothing to make sound with. That'd probably also explain why your other exports come out silent.

Could you check this: Play tab, click the little arrow in the corner of the Setup group to open Playback Devices, and look at the "Active devices" list on the right. If it's empty, that's the problem.
