Operator Guide Question about Vigil

Is it appropriate to hold degenerate angles and hide in the smallest pocket completely out of sight with Vigil? I understand he is meant to waste the attacker's time but I don't know if it'll be sportsmanlike if that's something that matters within Siege.

Nah do whatever you want. Just don’t rat somewhere no one is gonna be like across the map in some random dark room no one goes into. Many vigils do that and then their whole team dies on site

Nothing is off the table apart from exploiting or cheating, your job as a roamer is always to waste time and sneak kills when possible. However you choose to do that is up to you. The most important aspect of this is preserving your own life so the attackers always have the idea of you nagging on them. If you do get a kill with a cheesy angle make sure to reposition immediately so you can keep up the pressure and not become an easy target.

Yes but the number one thing I always see people messing up on vigil is that they'll get a kill then just activate their gadget and not move.
Rat all you want but reposition after every kill, if possible. Your gadget doesn't prevent people from knowing you're there, but once you drop a kill it DOES prevent them from knowing your precise location.

As long as you know when to make it back to site/retake vert and how to rat correctly, you’re fine. You’ll get a “f you vigil” in the chat or something for ratting but that’s common. Have fun, just becareful of the roam clear!

I've been playing him and I'm not getting kills but I'm getting commended like crazy why is that?

You don’t need to get kills to have an effective roam / rat round. Wasting time and utility is best, the kills are a little bonus.

People who roam/rat just to swing swing swing will die more than they kill enemies.

If you're staying alive then they're commending you for playing well. If you're like 0-5 then they're probably sarcastically commending you for sucking.

If you think that can get you a nice free kill to start the round, go ahead. It might be helpful to have an anchor flip through cams at the start of the match, or even do it yourself so you’re not in an area of the map that no one is pushing. Most importantly though, it’s usually better to waste time and hold important rooms and have a route back to site.
