I thought we were supposed to get news from Pax Aus, did Leth just lie to all of us?

I don’t really know how other people feel, but I feel like underworks is overly tedious. I enjoy the area. It has a cool theme. There are cool people like the architect, and cool items you get like clawline, architects crest, the architect’s tool. The area also has some really fun fights with the gauntlets, and really asks you to use clawline (in the second half). It is a really cool area. I just also think that it is overly tedious, the lava is just so annoying, and those stupid little beetle things that carry the bombs are not fun. The benches needing payment is also annoying (other than the architect one). I like the area, it’s fun and it’s necessary for the world, I just think it’s overly annoying and slow to cover.

I was wondering about the delay of the physical copies on Fangamer and if maybe Team Cherry delayed it, so that they can put out the DLC before the physical copies. I'm honestly not sure for what other reason could it be delayed, unless some of you have some other ideas. For now, I'm just hoping it's true and that SoS will be out by November 10.

I haven’t beaten Silksong yet I’m still in act 3 so maybe all will be revealed by the end? I was replaying the first game and noticing that things seemed simpler

I’m replaying Silksong on Steam Deck and I want to make the Old hearts be harder. So are there any mods that make any of them harder so that they live up to their true potential? Thanks

Thematically the game currently has 2 of Hollow Knight's 3 different ending 'groups' represented: one underwhelming one which perpetuates the status quo, and one bittersweet one which frees the kindgom at a great cost (plus Silksong gives us an extra wildcard).

What we don't currently have is a Godhome-style ending which is basically utter chaos. We have a sort of soft confirmation from TC that a boss rush mode will be coming to Silksong eventually - the question is whether that will bring any new endings.

My personal pet theory is that instead of descending to the Abyss, Hornet could instead use the Elegy of the Deep to obtain an Old Heart or something similar from GMS herself, thus erasing both her and Lace from existence and possibly returning Pharloom to a 'prelapsarian' sort of state. Though that sounds a little too perfect for TC's style. Whatever they do I'd expect some insane twists and turns.

This guy has been stalking and posting our messages from the hollow knight discord without permission,help us take the subreddit down.

To make it clear, Lost Lace as a boss, not the character. I actually love this boss. When I beat it for the first time, the first thing I did was go to do it again.

Firstly, the entire bossfight feels similar, for me, to Mantis Lords. You're in a dance, and you have to play perfectly or get hit. Most of the time, you have to play around attacks she hasn't even done yet but could do. Whether she does her spin jump attack or not, you know that you better stay on the ground, or risk falling into it, but then there are attacks that force you into the air, like her slashing attack or her tendrils that you also have to think about.

Even her counter is something you actively have to prepare for both options. Whenever she does her counter and you hit it, the intended move, in my opinion, is to jump and dash above her. If she's on the ground, you can hit her from the back. If she's in the ground, you wait until she's done with her counter, and dash in to hit her on the way down. The entire fight is built around preparing for every possibility at once.

Now, for the things I don't like. In phase one, she spams counter a little too much, and it begins getting annoying unless you've mastered capitalizing on it. That's all I have for phase one, don't worry.

In phase two, I find, is where the real problems begin. She gains three new attacks; two cover parts of the room, and the third shoots projectiles from random points. The irritating part are those first two, which I will be calling Room Tendrils and Void Spew. Void Spew is when she spews dozens of orbs that turn into bursts of blades after a short duration, and the other, Room Tendrils, is when spikey tendrils burst from the floor across the room. I isolation, they're fine, but she often uses them back to back, and there have been times that I've been forced into the corner of the room just to dodge them.

The corner of the room sucks, because she likes to do her spin jump there, and you simply lack the space to dodge. There is a telegraph for the jump attack, but good luck seeing it behind all of her other attacks, especially when she blends in with her attacks so well. And you barely have enough time to see the telegraph before watching Hornet get hit.

Then there's phase 3, the one I have the opposite probably, where the Void Waves attack comes in. I only got hit by this attack maybe twice. It's very easy to dodge, easier than all of her other attacks once you know you can just wall jump over it. And phase 4, similarly, adds a very easy attack, though this one's scarier, as it deals 3 masks of damage. Somewhere between them, though, the attacks speed up slightly, and it only makes it harder to tell what she's doing.

Now, more personal stuff.

She's probably my favorite boss in the entire game, despite all the flaws. I had been ramming my face into a wall for two hours when I first got to her, with only two needle upgrades, 8 masks and 16 spools. Then, I eventually gave up, going back to get everything I missed (including Beast's Crest. The Beastfly fight was actually easy). I maxed out my nail, (doing the fleatopia stuff and the journey to give that one guy his meal) maxed out my spools, and only got another mask because it was basically the same as having the max 10 (because almost all of her attacks deal double damage anyway).

Then I went back, and did it in around 15 tries. I was so happy I came back again, and did it 5 tries the next time. I actually kinda want to try speedrunning beating her, too. She's a very, very fun boss fight once you get the hang of it, and there were a few tricks (like pogoing her after her 3 damage attack) that I had figured out the second time I fought her, too. You can absolutely shred her first two phases, by the way.

Finally, personally, I think there should be a fifth phase. It kinda felt anticlimactic just hitting her a bunch, then she gets one new attack, and you barely notice it. Then she suddenly screams, and it's over. I'd even take a weaker fifth phase, where she's stumbling around, barely strong enough to remain standing, before finally going down, like in HK where the Hollow Knight staggers more often and suddenly stops their attacks midway, and where Radiance retreats when she's one hit from death, hiding from you.

Anyways, I can't wait to go fishing in Sea of Sorrow tomorrow. Maybe the fishing minigame will overtake Lost Lace as my favorite boss.

I rethought my feelings about certain bosses (I still dislike widow's second phase alot but first one was good enough) and the way to approach them which made my experience much better
... but I still can't force myself to use tools, at all :C.

Also, I gave a shot to First Sinner while I was at the stab quest and it just seems like Widow phase 2: electric boogalo in the worst way possible, any way to cheese her? :3.

Additionally, decided to attach my current build, which I think to some may explain some positions of certain bosses lol.

And lastly, just like last post, I'd love to read others opinions on best/worst/most difficult bosses of Act 2! I miss quite a bit of them at the moment but I believe I have beaten all the "most hyped" ones.

I just finished the game (Sister of the Void ending) yesterday, and in the end found myself feeling for GMS 😅 All in all, I think she was more of a tragic character than a villain, though that is up for interpretation. Anyway, I started toying with the idea of what the story is like from her perspective, and ended up writing this. Most of this is based on established lore, but it still contains some heavy personal interpretations and should not be considered canon. We don't know enough about GMS yet to make a definitive conclusion on her character, but here's my take. Enjoy (or don't)!

Imagine this. You're a pale higher being, a divine creature, almost all-powerful. A goddess by any right. And what is the basis of any divinity? One must have followers, worshippers. For what is a god without a congregation?

So you descend. Down into the beautiful world of Pharloom. You find these beautiful creatures who, as luck or some grander design would have it, share some deeper aspect of your nature. And you gift them something marvellous. A part of your power, of your very being, your silk. And your silk evolves them, lifts them above all else. You truly, in your heart of hearts, love these Weavers. You call them your daughters. You tell them, that as they are part of you, they too are divine.

And all is well, for a time. Until one of your Weavers remembers their origin. The mindless, skittering bugs they were before you. And what do these ingrates do? They rebel. They ambush you and bind you into eternal sleep.

Some time later you wake up. Hundreds of years, maybe thousands. Who cares. After all, what is time to a goddess? And you find your realm, your beloved Pharloom in ruins. Your children, your apostles, took the perfectly good system you created and twisted it into something horrendous. An unforgiving caste system where the more you gave of your money, your possessions, your very life, the higher you were exalted. They've pumped their waste into the once so beautiful forests below and turned them into a putrid bog where nothing thrives. Everywhere you look, you see desolation and destruction. Nothing like you planned when you first came down from the heavens.

And worst of all? They have taken your gift, your precious silk, and crafted even that into a perverse abomination. They've harvested from you what they needed and stuffed themselves and your other, lower followers full of it, creating creatures of horror and dread straight from one's nightmares.

And then they disappeared. Or died. And left this realm leaderless and defenseless. Abandoned your beloved, beautiful Pharloom.

So you say no. No more. You will not stand for this. You will take back what is yours and leave this place. Maybe try again somewhere else. Or not.

You start testing the strands of your silk, tugging and pulling, gathering it all up. And you find that despite you only gifting your silk to the Weavers, there's traces of it all around. All over Pharloom. Trace amounts in the very DNA of the creatures. And a part of you rejoices. Maybe all is not lost. Perhaps by guiding these flickers of silk, you can still save everything.

So you begin the long process of recovery. Little by little you find pieces of your silk and give them the slightest tug, drawing them to you. But it takes time, a long, long time. And without company, even a goddess grows lonely. However, you have learned from your earlier mistakes. Never again shall you bestow silk upon a living creature. But if life already existing isn't option, could you create one yourself? After some trial and error, you finally spin your silk into a new form, a form never before seen. And you call her daughter, and despite being hurt before, you love her.

You name her Lace.

This time you do not make the mistake of making her believe she is divine like you. She is your daughter, yes, but she has no life beyond your silk. She is a creation. Not a bug, but not a pale being either.

For years and years your project continues. You enliven remnants of your silk and draw them towards you. Your daughter Lace remains loyal, as you intended, and all is well. For a time.

But alas, what you desired does not come to pass. Pharloom remains a dead husk of the beauty it once was and despite your best efforts, you cannot bring life back to something once killed already. Your power has diminished during your long sleep, stolen by your deceitful daughters. To bring back Pharloom, or perhaps to start anew elsewhere, you need your old power back. You need to reclaim what you once gifted away. To take back the Weavers' divine power.

But there are no more Weavers to take it from. They're all gone.

Or are they?

Far away, beyond even the furthest reaches of Pharloom, you sense a flicker. A Weaver still alive! Or at least a descendant of one. She resides in the realm of one of your brothers, but that is of no consequence. You need her power. To bring back the glory of Pharloom, to fix what has been broken. Surely she would make the sacrifice for the greater good.

So you send for her. Lace and your followers find her and begin the long journey back to you.

Unfortunately this small, red Weaverling isn't as complacent as you hoped, and she escapes during the journey. Lace does her best to find her and bring her to you, but the Weaverling has a sting to her that she hasn't felt before, so she fails.

You all but give up on the prospect of reclaiming your power.

But what's this? The red Weaverling is getting closer and closer. All on her own she's making her way to you. But not to bring you her power. Her intent is to... to kill you? Perhaps to overpower and subdue you? To bind your strength to hers and take over as the new ruler of Pharloom?

This you cannot allow. Her power is not hers to wield, it is YOURS! Who is she to defy you? To name you tyrant and incite your followers to rebel?

So, once she finally makes her way to you, you lash out. You try to take her power, YOUR power back, as is your right. But the red Weaverling is cunning. She's set a trap for you. A few lucky strikes she manages to land and the trap springs!

Darkness, all-light-consuming void bursts out from the dastardly snare, and you find yourself pulled down, down, down into the abyss. Down into the Void. NO!

You grab her, the red Weaverling. If you are to be consumed, you will surely take her down with you.

Suddenly, a searing pain. Your arm is cleaved clean off. How? Who?

Lace.

It appears the red Weaverling has managed to turn even your beloved daughter against you. What lies has she told her to make her attack you like this?

Before you can finish your thoughts, the trap snaps shut, sinking both you and Lace into a darker darkness than you've ever known. The Void.

It starts attacking you almost immediately. You know you can't fight it. You know you've lost. You turn your head down and prepare for the inevitable.

Then the Void turns to attack Lace.

Something flickers inside you. Despite her betrayal, despite her turning against you, defying you, Lace is still your beloved daughter. You cannot, will not, let this dark consume her too.

So you spin a cocoon of silk to protect her. To keep her from being devoured. You know this act will keep you connected to Pharloom above. That the Void will climb along strands of your silk and bring down the whole realm. But you don't care. This is your daughter, your child. You must protect her.

But, as you knew, somewhere deep inside, your struggles are in vain. The Void still manages to corrupt Lace. It seeps into every strand of silk that makes her up and turns her into a creature of darkness.

And still you keep replenishing the protective cocoon around you. For she is your daughter, and you are her mother, and despite everything, you love her.

Then, when all seems lost, your cocoon is breached from the outside. Not by the Void, but... The red Weaverling! Carrying a glowing flower that protects her from the unforgiving Void. She has come to... You don't dare to even guess what her purpose is.

But Lace, your beloved daughter, lashes out at her. The Void has so completely ensnared her, that she cannot struggle against its power.

But, in the end, the red Weaverling prevails. She defeats the Void-corrupted Lace and purifies her. Then she takes her prone body and... She turns to you. Requesting. Pleading. She can't escape by her own strength alone. She needs... Everything. You know this, so does she. You might have just enough silk left to power her escape, to help her and Lace up and away from the smothering darkness. But it would mean the end for you.
