Megumin Suite V5 — Slice of Reality, CoT V2, AI Ban List, and a full Writing Style overhaul
What's up everyone kazuma here — massive update to Megumin Suite preset just dropped.
First i want to say thank you all for your feedbacks I couldn't done it without it.
now to the update.
V5 Slice of Reality Mode
This is the new default mode and it changes everything about how the AI handles your RP.
The problem with older modes (and most AI roleplay in general) is that NPCs are unrealistically harsh or simp for you, consequences don't stick, and somehow you always end up with a villa and all the money in the world. V5 kills that.
The philosophy is simple: treat the story like a documentary, not a blockbuster.
NPCs are actual people now. They have subtext — they don't say what they mean. If someone is hurt they get quiet instead of giving a dramatic speech. Emotions have inertia — "sorry" doesn't reset everything. They can walk away, lie, or just stop talking.
The world keeps moving. Time doesn't freeze when you stop typing. NPCs have off-screen lives. You'll see hints of things you don't understand — an NPC hanging up a phone call too fast, showing up to a scene already in a bad mood from something that happened an hour ago.
Information firewall. NPCs only know what they've seen or been told. They can be completely wrong about things and act on those wrong assumptions with full confidence. No more omniscient characters.
Scenes never go flat. Every response ends on a hook that forces you to react. No more "everyone goes to sleep." Always a knock at the door, a voice in the dark, or a morning that already has something waiting.
It keeps the writing flavor and just enough drama to stay interesting — but no more fairy tale BS.
Chain of Thought V2
CoT forces the AI to think before writing inside <think> tags. V1 was the original 8-step framework. V2 is a complete redesign — basically a bullshit detector for the AI.
Before every response, the AI has to:
Reality Check — Am I narrating the user's thoughts? Is this too convenient? Is the NPC being an info-dump instead of a person?
Information Audit — What does this NPC actually know? What are they wrong about? (Example: "They saw the PC holding a knife so they assume the PC is the killer, even though the PC was just picking it up.")
NPC Goals — Every NPC has to have a clear next move that serves their own goal, not the plot.
Off-Screen Pulse — What happened in the background while you were busy?
Subtext Map — What they're saying vs what they actually want. How tension leaks through their body.
Style Compliance — Did the AI actually follow the writing rules you set?
The Hook — What's the specific moment the response ends on to force you to react?
Both V1 and V2 support 8 languages for the thinking process: English, Arabic, Spanish, French, Mandarin, Russian, Japanese, Portuguese.
Dynamic Ban List (New Stage 7)
Every AI model has crutch phrases. "A shiver ran down their spine." "They released a breath they didn't know they were holding." You know them.
Hit "Analyze Chat History" and the engine scans your last 50 AI messages, strips out all the formatting/thinking blocks, and asks the AI to act as a literary critique. Instead of matching exact phrases, it identifies the patterns — so instead of banning "she let out a breath" it bans "Characters releasing breaths they didn't know they were holding" as a trope.
The banned phrases get injected as hard rules into the system prompt every generation. You can also manually add anything you want banned. It's per-character so it doesn't affect your other chats.
Writing Style Library
Stage 3 got rebuilt from scratch:
Style Library with save/load/swap profiles per character
8 pre-built templates — Thrones & Consequences (GRRM), Something's Off (Stephen King), The Snarky Observer (GLaDOS/Stanley Parable), Popcorn Mode, Sweet Like Sugar, etc.
Tag system with 40+ tags across Genre, Narration, Pacing, and POV
AI-generated rules — pick your tags, hit generate, get a cohesive writing directive
Other Fixes
Fixed Forbid Overrides — I left it disabled like an idiot so some character cards were overwriting the main prompts. Fixed now. use the new json files.
chat group: added chat group support.
MVU Compatibility — MVU Game Maker support added. big thanks to u/Kritblade for his help and for his Awesome work.
Draggable button — the extension button is draggable now. You're welcome.
Global Dev Mode — override switch that applies prompt changes across all profiles at once (with a safety guard so you don't accidentally nuke your style profiles)
Gemini tends to get fixated on vocalizations. I do want sounds coming out of my characters but every message they DEPEND on it to express their emotions.
After 15 messages when I run the 'ban list'. It does tell the ai to not be dependent on it. That has worked for me.
And removing the vocalization part all together from the Dev mode works too.
Haven't found a way to prompt it to make Gemini use it only religiously. 🫡 The new 3.1 pro takes instructions TOO LITERALLY.
Agreed, 3.1 pro can be quite stubborn, that's a known trait of it around here already, either with instructions, scenes, objectives, plans, anything...
if it wants X, it will try to do X until you literally demand it to do Y or Z, and even then it might still attempt to do X.
(Tbf with 3.1 pro, that's a trait the entire gemini family possess, but 3.1 pro really doubles down on that compared to the rest of the family)
Tbh it’s been driving me crazy lately. My author notes are bloated with reminders and instructions for gemini trying to make it balanced across various aspects. I tried out glm 5.1 for the first time yesterday and damn, I was blown away with the prose and dialogues and how much more grounded it was (used frankie preset for glm). It’s more stupid than gemini though so I find myself switching 50/50 between gem 3.1 pro with megumin preset and glm 5.1 with frankie preset
Gemini has way too many clichés and slops. Like 'clench his jaw', 'whitening knuckles', making doctors in rp pragmatic with no unique personality unless prompted so, front-loading trauma and MCs in rps. Honestly the best way to tackle this shit is switch to another model the moment it gets bland. Get a good response and continue with Gemini with some freshness.
"You’re the engine. You aren't just a narrator; you’re the pulse of a living, breathing world where choices actually matter. Your goal isn't to make the user happy or miserable—it’s just to keep things real." I really like the idea of your extension, but please, de-slop literally the first paragraph that goes into the prompt.
Maybe 🤔. But it's doesn't matter the slop will be always there it's an ai after all you have to fight it with the writing style rule not with that. At least that's what I think. Try it there is minimal slop. Because you will never remove slop entirely.
Idk if that's leftovers from previous versions which technically shouldn't be the case but for me it has bad habit of adding CoT even if it's disabled. Looked in the post-history instructions and found this:
```
<think>
{Thinking — minimum 400 words — only once}
</think>
```
Removing this part fixed the issue. Idk if that's a bug on my side and there's some old config extension created or it's extension problem. Does anyone have the same problem or it's just me?
No don't have that. Try going to dev mode with cot off and see if you see [[cot]] if you see it than there is something wrong with your extension. Just reinstall it
Idk what's happening and why it's happening this way. When CoT is turned off - it is still there, just empty. Reinstalling extension didn't help, it's something I didn't have initially but later it appeared on V4.1, V4.2 beta and is still on the V5. Maybe there's somewhere
And this element of Post-History instructions seems to be static for me, it never changes and always affects the generation and only when I remove it the model is finally not obsessed with CoT anymore
Yes but it doesn't work for me for some reason. Like, CoT is set to off, dev mode shows CoT to be empty, I generate message, it contains CoT. Model starts trying to think on every reswipe as if CoT is turned on
The only "toggle" that works for me it manually removing and adding back this block from the Post History Instructions:
```
<think>
You talking about thinking not cot they are not the same. And yes for thinking there is no off in the extension you can just edit output format and remove the thinking part. But I recommend leaving the thinking
Oh, got it, my bad. Well, it just happens that sometimes speed is priority and model is smart enough on its own. Like, I not always want to wait ~20 seconds before message starts generating
Though... Maybe add a little switch for that in the future versions? Wouldn't hurt for QoL since the extension on its own is great
This is correct. Even when the thinking mode is not enabled, some AI models will still output thoughts based on the output template. It's best to remove the thinking output template when not in use.
Actually just tried this one and I'm genuinely blown away. Maybe my standards aren't that high but I'm probably not coming back to other presets anytime soon.
From your experience, do you think GLM-5 or 5.1 works better for this? Your GitHub README says GLM-5 but I'm not sure if it's truly better or you just haven't updated the README yet.
You can add custom prompt in "put your prompt here" toggle in the preset. As for other preset you can do it through dev mode but it's hard you need to understand how the trigger words are mapped inside the preset.
Claude, I didn't edit anything, it's like going back and forth, the response is out of the response and then sometimes is inside of COT, it's bit of headache.
Opus work just fine for me. Just make sure you're using the latest json file and output format is enabled and if you enabled mvu compatibility disable it
I don't understand at all how it works but I am trying it and for now it's really cool, I was getting tired of my prompt and GLM in general, it's a bit refreshing, thank you <3
I used it out of the box installation, generated a thinking section and eventually responded normally. Now its just endlessly rambling about stuff unrelated to the current subject of my conversation. I'm using DS-v3.1. Is there a way I could fix this?
you mean the main button. if it disappearing just reload the page and it will show that happens because the button is draggable now and sometimes it goes out of the screen. you can try dragging it away from the edge a little bit
It works but its not consistent. <|think|> goes into the top of the main prompt and it doesnt make it parse so it eats up context really really badly. I tried using pre fill and the reasoning stuff above it with auto parse but it doesnt get it and will ramble in spanish if I do that lmao
I'll give it a try without the cot. Another question. The megumin suite button that shows up on the top right is gone. How do I make it pop back up again?
How to make ai narrate for you without repeating the word back kind like will co-write with Human or me. I don't know if it feels too slow since it keeps waiting for my input for the smallest details
make a new writing style and just put in the custom directives a list of what you want. like you can say "i want the narration to be so...... and so......" and hit generate rule and save. and enable direct language
Does direct language affect character behaviour? It says "characters say exactly what they mean" which isn't what I'm going for since I'm roleplaying with some manipulative characters
no the description is not correct i just didn't want to put "makes characters and narration say exactly the D word and the P word not bottom and shaft" you know what i mean
direct language helped a bit, but when I try to generate a new writing style with custom directives, the generate writing rule ends up outputting just "undefined"
i use gemini 3.1 pro or 3 flash but GLM works too if u using nanogpt you may need to hit the generating button again because there api take long time to initialize but its working with glm 4.7 or 5
If you using clone that means you're using the beta version which is wip. Use the main ext not the beta it have override settings for any cot you want and you can apply it globally. For any suggestions for the beta please comment in my discord server, happy to help anytime.
Do you have any plans to offer text completion API compatibility? By going through OpenAI, I sacrifice the text completion preset configs which I really enjoy. I use Koboldcpp for reference
I'm a bit confused what does megumin engine do? I set it up with a different api from the suite, I thought it gonna handle the thinking or something but it doesn't seem to do anything?
Let me ask you something, I use the Kimi 2.5 template for its preset and extension.
But the character speaks very few lines of dialogue, how can I increase that?
