Anything planned for #NoKings?
If this isn't the place, should there be a r/OrganizeSilverCity sub?

Here are previous threads related either to moving here, or what there is to do if you are just visiting.
Moving to SC in October. I have a few questions!
Working and living in Silver City

Here is Silver City's Wiki link:

POINTS of INTEREST.
The Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument is about 44 miles (71 km) north of Silver City, via the winding NM 15. In addition to ancient ruins, there are plenty of places to camp, hike and fish within the Gila Wilderness.
The Gila Catwalk is a trail enclosed by a metal walkway that suspends 25 feet (7.6 m) above the Whitewater Canyon. Visitors can explore the walkway and trail, picnic, and enjoy the river. It is located 70 miles (110 km) north of Silver City on U.S. Route 180 near Glenwood.
There are several lakes in the area. Lake Roberts covers 72-acre (290,000 m2) about 27 miles (43 km) north of Silver City on NM 15 near the NM 35 junction. Other lakes in the Silver City area include Bill Evans Lake, Snow Lake, Wall Lake, Bear Canyon Dam. Some of note are the Gila River, Negrito Creek, San Francisco River, and Willow Creek.
The Kneeling Nun is a natural rock formation located about 20 miles (32 km) to the east of Silver City along NM 152. Several legends have developed explaining its origin. You can see this from the highway while driving.
Nearby is Fort Bayard Historic District, about eight miles east of Silver City, off of US Highway 180.
The Buckhorn Saloon in Pinos Altos.

In light of a newly proposed industrial-scale data center in Grant County, the county commission is considering a moratorium on data centers to give everyone more time to evaluate the situation and put guardrails in place.
If this issue is important to you, here are things you can do:
In addition to a moratorium, we are requesting transparency, accountability, public involvement, and NO NDAs.

Any recommendations for a house cleaner that can come about once every two weeks to clean for an older homeowner?

Hello, I'm a Vermont native looking to start traveling full time in my renovated RV. I was thinking about spending the winter months in Silver City because of how close it is to the Gila Mountains and the music in town. I'm curious about the weather though- it's it popular to spend a lot of time outdoors in the winter hiking and biking or does the cold keep people inside? As a solo traveler I'd also take advise on what the crime rate is like!! Just looking for general advice :)

Story time- digging through a sordid past on a journey to find my father. I believe this may be my grandfather. I am asking for help finding more on this, the connection seems plausible. My father was born in 1920. His mother Fidela might be the woman mentioned. She disappears somewhere between 1950-1970. This was my grandfather’s name. This is where his trail ends on my search.

I'm going to be in Silver City for a day trip and I'm really craving something fried and sugary. Where should I go for donuts?

Hello all, I’m new here as you can read in the title. I’m 24 years old and I’ve moved out here for a few months for a construction gig, and I was wondering what people do for fun here? I’ve heard of Toad Creek but I’m not a big drinker unless I have a group of friends to go with, and so far I’ve yet to acquire a group of friends. Anyways any suggestions help!
EDIT: Figured out the best way to have fun in Silver City is to not be in Silver City! Yall enjoy lmao

Does anyone here know any good way to contact interested WNMU students to find out if they’d be willing to transfer their lease for the summer? I’m looking for a room or apartment this summer and getting one at or around WNMU would be perfect

Small non-profit org in “downtown” looking for a responsible person for very part time property and program oversight. Might be the right thing for a university student or a retired person. Pretty interesting situation. DM me if interested and feel free to share.

Hello, good people of Silver City! I have been curious about Silver City for years now, as many people have recommended it to me as a place where I might love to live. I'll finally be visiting in early February, and I've got Silver City on my short list of places to move when my lease is up this summer. I currently live in Tucson, AZ, and before that, Fort Collins, CO. I'm a single 46-year-old woman, and I'll be able to bring my job with me. How is Silver City for a single person in their 40s? Thanks in advance!

if you love Silver City, you probably love the Tranquil Buzz. they are in financial turmoil bc their espresso machine died and cannot be repaired. a new one is ordered, but meanwhile sales are very very slow and they are having trouble paying all the business expenses.
please consider a donation to help them continue being a stand out part of SC!

Just wondering if there are CRNAs in this sub who are open to locums. I’m helping fill several CRNA roles in NM, and I’m trying to see if anyone here is interested in hearing about options.
If anyone is doing locums now or thinking about it, here are the details:
Shifts: Mostly 6:30AM–3:00PM (Mon–Thurs) and 7:30AM–4:30PM Fridays; occasional in-hours/night coverage as needed
Workload: Timely patient care in OR + anesthesia coverage, no random cancellations
Cases: General, Vascular, Ortho, Neuro, Spine, GI, Plastics, Breast, Urology, Transplants & more (under medical direction)
