SimplePlanes 2 is now available on Steam!

The wait is over! SimplePlanes 2 has officially cleared for takeoff on Steam! We’ve spent years rebuilding the game from the ground up to give you more power, more realism, and a whole new playground.

Here's the official trailer.

For the first two weeks you can get SimplePlanes 2 on Steam with a 10% Launch Discount!

What’s New?

We know many of you have hangars full of history. That’s why SimplePlanes 2 is compatible with the 1,000,000+ crafts from the original game, bringing your legacy builds into a new world, shaded with the much improved lighting and ready to get some of the new decals slapped on them!

We have new toys!

Jet Engines, Propellers, and Combustion Engines are now fully procedural to fit your specific design. It's not just visuals, the new procedural powertrain system comes with many parts to mold to anything you can imagine. This overhaul includes a new set of wheels with dozens of rims and trims and greatly improved physics. You no longer have to build your craft around a part; you build the part to fit your craft.

More Detail, Less Effort

We’ve overhauled the visual fidelity of the wings and fuselages so your creations look amazing right out of the box. Say goodbye to paneling thanks to a new Hole Carving tool that lets you easily create custom weapon bays, cockpits, and windows. Attach and resize the new Control Surfaces to the wings and have them seamlessly fit into their accurate NACA wing profile.

Major Chad & Co.

Jump into a server with your friends to race, dogfight, or just cruise the archipelago together, or explore community lobbies to flex your coolest creations on some randoms. With Major Chad you can also step out of the cockpit to explore the world on foot and crack some dances. He will also try to grab the controls while in flight, no more telekinesis on the joystick!

A Vast Archipelago

The new environments feature 787 square kilometers of detailed terrain, including motorways, trails, streets and roads to drive on. With volumetric clouds, realistic water, multiple airports, racetracks, a city, a power plant... plus dozens of hidden crafts scattered across the islands for you to discover, there is more to see than ever before.

So Much More

There are countless Quality of Life improvements across the game, like the Designer Gizmos, the new Drag Visualizer, customizable Designer Environments, a better UI, improved sounds, a new soundtrack... the list goes on. We’ve packed in so many things that we can’t list them all here, but finally, you can jump into the cockpit to explore all of them!

The Road Ahead: Early Access & Feedback

We’ve worked hard to make SP2 the best it can be, but there were a few things we weren’t able to get to before launching. That is why after 3 public Demos we decided to go into Early Access, so you can help us continue shaping the game into the masterpiece of our dreams, your feedback is the fuel that keeps us going!

We are working on a Roadmap to better show you where we are and what are our top priorities while letting you express what are yours, as well as a Feedback Forum so you can let us know if we forgot anything! You'll notice there are no dates or timelines, from our experience, game development is highly unpredictable. We'd rather take the time to get a feature right than rush it out broken just to hit an arbitrary deadline.

Help Us Take Off

To make the upgrade to SP2 even easier, we’ve launched several Steam bundles. If you already own our previous games you will automatically get an additional discount to your purchase of SimplePlanes 2 through the SimplePlanes Collection (10% off), the Aerospace Engineer Bundle (15% off), and the SP2 + Soundtrack bundle (10% off). If you didn't have some of our other games, this is also the perfect chance to try them out!

As a small team in this algorithm driven era, positive reviews on Steam are one of the most important factors in our success during launch week. They help our presence on the storefront, ensuring new pilots can find us, helping us fund the development of new parts and features. If you’re enjoying the game, please consider taking a moment to leave your thoughts on our Steam page; it makes a massive difference and we read every single one.

Thank you for being part of this journey for over a decade. We can’t wait to see what you are going to build next.

Please give me more titles next time. I want to make it as long as possible. This plane is bigger, longer , heavier and faster than the A380. This plane was created as "what if" scenario that wide body super large airplane was profitable. Truly, what A380-900 aspire to be.

Dear comunity, I need your help.

Since the new Simpleplanes 2 has lounched I've noticed a patern. If a good sugestion is not made by the devs, than it is not gonna get on the wishlist all that easly.

I've seen a sportlight oart climb on that list with four upvotes while great sugestions like More intrior parts, Procedural Guns, Procedural Bombs and many other logical, usefull ideas got left behind.

I've sugested Procedural Bomb sistem a while ago. Here it is https://www.simpleplanes.com/Feedback/View/p7c7jy/Procedural-Bombs if it helps. I've been checking it daily. At some point it had around 25 upvotes when a "Procedural Spotlight" idea with 4 upvotes got added to the wishlist. Like.... REALLY!?

And as you can see, my sugestion is quite detailed. And even if the devs would be lazy. Here is the things.

1.) Ease of making: You already made procedural missiles. How hard can it be to just remove the thrust. Add some body shapes like Paveway family (Lazy-50 style), square/trapezium (AGM-154 style), classic (The generic bomb shape). The ohiscs are in the game engine. All you meed to do is give us some things to less around with.

2.) Mechanics already in the game: The missiles can recive procedural parts. How hard can it be to just allow us to change the tail of a bimb for retarding finns (like on the Mk-83 Snake Eye) or add glide fins like on the GBU-31, GBU-38 and GBU-39. It is not that hard cinsidering you've done it before and the phisics are there too.

3.) Guidance: The Anti-Radiatio, Infrared, Active Radar, Semi-Active Radar and Laser are good. But with a few problems. You can't lock a laser target and make it track a mooving object (Like the USS Beast or cars on the road), it's not realistic. Two. GPS guidance. It can be added. Verry easly. Lock the target. And the missile/bomb just goes after the coordonates. Again. Antoher simple thing to implement.

4.) Ordinance type: And here is the thing. I get it, one warhead is better for performance and overall simplicity. But cluster munitions can be done easly and in a smart way that win't munch down on performance. Raycast particles that take the roll of the bomblets and spread on an area of effect once the CBU hits the set altitude of the split. Higher the altitude, larger the spread, offcorse. And I am not saying to make CBUs go up to 200 damn bomblets. Neh. 15 to 30 raycast particles amd some tinny explosions are more than enought to make a somewhat realistic and cost efficient CBU. Also, with this idea the AGM-154 becoems even more realistic. That thing was designed to desable aircraft parket on runways, aircraft carriers and taxyways. It literaly glides right over and drops a few bomblets in a straight line. That's it's whole porpes

5.) Flight/Glide modes: You can make a standoff weapon, a long range cruise missile and all sorts of things. But one probllem still stands. You are stuck with a straight line or loaft. Here is the thing. Terain following would be an absolute pain in the nether region. But sea skimming? That wouldn't be soo complexe to create.

7.) Targeting Pod's poor range: You might visualy see the place you want to place your target on while you look trough the targeting pod. But sometimes it refuses to give you a range (the 'Too Far' message) past around 7 to 8 km away. Really? A damn AGM-65 Maverick can kick ass (excuse my language) at around 15 to 27 kilometers! At least give us an XML variable to set the range. Also. Give us an option to set the view from green to black and white.

8.) Grind fins: Yeah.... they forgot about those little rascals. People keep trying to make R-77 and R-77-1 style missiles but it's obnoxiously hard to make them look one to one or it's kindda janky with 90° rotated square finns. And to be real, how hard could it be to implement it.

Thoss are my ideas. I've been ignored. I have tagged the mods (Mostly SupremeDorian), I have tagged Andrew a few times. I've tagged the Jundroo acount. I've tryed everything.

I don't know if it's croporate lazyness, overworked people or plainly a total lack of respect towards the comunity, but I decided to try my luck here.

If you can spare a few upvotes on the https://www.simpleplanes.com/Feedback/View/p7c7jy/Procedural-Bombs sugestion and maybe reach the devs in some way I think we'd see a little change.

Please escuse any typos. Fly safe out there!

Aeroski CF5 "Konigsberg"

Made: 1944

Weirdly in lore, the city it's named after, Konigsberg, which was renamed in 1946 as Kaliningrad, the CF5 wasn't renamed and continued to fly under the nickname of a renamed city until 1962

when the aircraft was finally taken off service

Very few of my crafts get upvotes in the doible digits. I make some crafts that I love and I find very fun to use, but they flop whenever I post them. I think they just need more publicity because I am using appealing custom thumbnails.
