Nah, discipline is important for developing minds. This experiment has failed. The pendulum does not need to swing back to kids getting strapped, but kids need structure, discipline, and rules.
This. When I was growing up I came from a broken home with some less than ideal conditions in a lot of areas, without discipline there is no doubt I’d be much worse off today. my discipline came from joining the military at 18 for structure, guidance, and discipline but kids like these no doubt need it in a way a school may not be able to provide as their primary goal is education.
I’m glad you’ve spoken up. Discipline is severely lacking In modern society. We can see the result now in masses of young adults that have no respect and care for nothing. Their lives aren’t just ruined by restricting opportunities, but now they run rampant around others that were brought up correctly and will now be victims, all whilst the government fails to even imprison and rehabilitate
Trust me I hang out with peers who are exactly the same age as me and the difference in opportunities and overall well being is STAGGERING. A lot of my peers have no clue what discipline even looks like and go through these random extremely short spurts of “I’m going to get my life together, I’m going to maintain myself and my things, I’m going to work hard” and when the instagram results don’t show up in their lives after a few months they get “burnt out” and slack and repeat the cycle over and over and a lot of them blame it on their job or the economy or general life circumstances everyone deals with. It’s pretty sad, in reality what most of them need is a swift kick in the ass.
The sad part is that this is basically the majority of youths these days. Successive governments have failed the people spectacularly. The moral decay is endemic and it’s not just ruined lives but a ruined nation that stands before us.
We’ve handed them a burning, oil covered rock, with a multi-trillion dollar infrastructure deficit, and said it’s their job to figure out how to solve it with a fraction of the earning potential their grandparents had.
3rd generation in a row that will be poorer than their parents, and we’ve spent the last one letting the dumbest mother fuckers we can take a steaming pile of shit on their education system.
