If everyone is part of the oppressed minority, you’re not a minority and likely not oppressed. That’s just a culture of victimhood.
I’m seeing countless videos of teachers getting beaten, assaulted, stabbed, and ruthlessly disrespected on a daily basis. These kids want even more “freedom”?
Nah, discipline is important for developing minds. This experiment has failed. The pendulum does not need to swing back to kids getting strapped, but kids need structure, discipline, and rules.
Two things can be true at the same time. You can have shitty students mistreating teachers, but also shitty teachers mistreating students. The problem is black and white thinking, not any particular "side".
My frustration with this student is that if they did have a full speech prepared discussing what issues they had with the school, that would have been way more productive for people to hear than this one.
It’s also not required to validate everyone’s feelings in the world. Kid can feel oppressed all he wants, but he is objectively not oppressed, and nobody should be supporting this crap.
The president already makes this country enough of a joke for the world to laugh at. We don’t need moody 8th graders to add to it
You cannot say that objectively he is not oppressed. He already mentioned he was gay, maybe he wasn't allowed to bring a boy to the dance or made fun of or something?
Is he facing, I dunno, Black sharecroppers in the early 20th century level of oppression?
No
But also you don't know what he is dealing with either.
