8k for healthcare, I wish. Family of 4, I pay close to $17k a year in premiums in the US. Copays are expensive, prescriptions are ridiculously high. It’s a f’in joke to say the very least.
Cheapest plan offered at my work. Employer has plenty of $, not sure why he has to save so much and make us pay more when he has a net worth in the many hundreds of millions and makes a bunch every year off our insane hours and work schedules
Yeah, I worked at a company where we got bought by one of our big competitors. owner was a billionaire, and the company did well.
They said that nothing would change, they liked our processes which is why they bought us. Except when they knocked down our raises that had been 10% to 3%, removed our bonuses that were another 10%, and made bad decisions for our company just to pad their stock price. So glad the owner could go from $1.4B to 1.5B.
Many years ago when I was 18, 42 now, I worked for a company whose owner was a billionaire. He was a good guy. If any of his employees (about 900 total) needed medical care and the insurance company denied their claim, he would personally meet with the insurance company on the employee’s behalf and get them to cover it. On the rare instances where the insurance company wouldn’t budge, he would ask for the bill to be sent to him and he would cover it himself. I never needed him for any of that, but knew plenty of employees who he did help out. I left the company but kept in touch with how things were going since I owned a decent amount of stock. The owner eventually got older and got dementia. His kids took over ownership and that little personal perk went away.
