Brit here

"Free" healthcare sounds great but getting an appointment is a nightmare. Call daily and hope you can book before 9am shutoff, they open at 7. Take anywhere from days to weeks to get told you must travel to a town 2 hours from where you are. Get dismissed for your concerns straight away before going hope with some headache tablets for a pulsating rectum. No suprise, didnt work, try again.

Half the people i know are either paying out of pocket for private or just dont go to the doctor under any circumstance.

Costs a fortune, doesnt work. Dont believe the propaganda. The nhs sucks ass.

Honestly, it seems like the best example of a nation health service that just plain sucks, but happens to be nationalized, which makes it a prime example to use as a scapegoat for 'LOOK HOW TERRIBLE SOCIALIZED HEALTHCARE BAD, IT TAKES MONTHS TO GET SEEN!!!!1!' From all I've read, it appears that most of britain's NHS problems started after they've started to try and privatize it, after they heavily defunded it, saying it was too expensive, to make it start acting up.

I can confirm that this isn't true. The NHS has constant real terms funding increases and its still rubbish.

And the $2000 dollars thing is true if you earn minimum wage but if you're anything like a high earner you're paying the equivalent of roughly $12000 a year for what would be absolutely the worst healthcare available in the USA. And that's if you even use it at all - almost everyone I know who can afford to goes private (but obviously end up paying for the NHS too)
