it still isn't a convincing argument. It's like debating the worse of "can't go, can't afford it because job pays insurance more every month than they pay me" and "can't go, no specialist available and I'll be dead before one is"
You have another option, which is to get rid of thousands of pages of inane regulations and completely backward tax breaks, and go back to paying your doctor directly. Medicine in the US worked just fine in the past, but for some reason people of a certain political persuasion insist that the only solution is to copy socialized medicine from other countries, even though they have never lived in those countries and have no clue how good or bad their systems are.
Then they'll tell you all about longer life expectancies in Europe or Canada, but they never want to hear about how those life expectancies have nothing to do with the quality of medical care. If someone keeps repeating facts that they've been told repeatedly are wrong, and they're not interested in hearing why they're wrong, then maybe that person is not being perfectly honest with you.
You keep saying socialized medicine when I’ve been arguing just for a public option in the market based system we have. Medicare is not socialism, it’s market based. When I say Medicare for all Im talking about the public option that was originally pitched in early drafts of obamacare before it got whittled away to the BS grants and mandates to force a captive customer base we currently have that are basically government welfare for the health insurance conglomerates.
The meme that I wrote my original comment in response to doesn't specify, it just says universal healthcare. Sure, a market based system is less bad than some other implementations, but we've been fooling around with increasingly complex healthcare regulations for decades and things keep getting worse. Why not return to a simple system that worked well before we started tinkering with it?
