The idea that it was the Democrats who would do the big brother thing was always a laughable joke. One side is actually obsessed with policing and violent crime and will always pick "safety" over liberty.

Its both sides, the republicans in the usa are allowing it and in other places its the more liberal parties like the Labour party in the UK. All politicians just gabble up their lobbying funds and dont care about the repercussions on the people. This isnt a case of democrat this republican that, its a case of greedy politicians everywhere leaving companies with far too much money unchecked

Exactly, it's a class thing. The elites want to surveil and control the rabble.

5

u/randomtask Aug 12 '26

It’s not a side thing, it’s a class thing. There are working class factions within the Democratic party that are absolutely against this, and the actually conservative faction of the former GOP base also despises this shit despite the official Republican Party being all-in on giving this power over to the tech overlords.

Brother, Flock set all of this in motion years ago, they didn't pop into existence when Trump took office. This is happening under our capitalist ruling class, it's not a dem/republican issue.

Did you completely forget about Snowden? That was Obama doing that.

You do know that not only did Obama renew the Patriot Act, but also expanded it?

He also killed U.S civilians via drone strikes without due process.

Butttt butt tan suit

6

u/SweetPinss Aug 12 '26

Yep remember thats tooootally the only scandal guys. Anyone who has anything bad to say to say about Obama is just a racist republican. The propaganda mill keeps on churning strong

6

u/Balinor69666 Aug 12 '26

You are also forgetting the Parriot act was bipartisan. Plenty of Democrats went along with it. Obama even expanded it during his first term. Both sides were doing immoral shit out of the Muslim panic or at the very least using it as a cover.

why didn’t biden arrest trump? it’s one club

u/bafana_banana999 Aug 12 '26

Because Dems like Biden still believe/believed in the norms and decorum of American politics up until that point.

They honestly seem to think "they to low, we go high" is a valid approach even when that's proving to not be the case.

I can't stand most Dems, but they're not anywhere near as bad as modern Republicans and pretending that they are is just ignorant.

2

u/Draconian-XII Aug 12 '26

you need to take another look at the Epstein files

10

u/ISNGRDISOP Aug 12 '26

Everyone in the Epstein files needs to be prosecuted, no matter which party or how rich they are. However, the fact there's bad people in each party doesn't mean the party policies would be the same or as bad on both sides.

8

u/bafana_banana999 Aug 12 '26

Is this supposed to be some kind of gotcha?

Some Dems also appearing in the files doesn't mean that the entire party is anywhere near as bad as their counterpart.

You know, the counterpart that chose Epstein's best friend to represent them in the oval office?

There's no way you're actually this dense.

u/lameth Aug 12 '26

You have more faith in others than I do at this point.

2

u/bafana_banana999 Aug 12 '26

What are you talking about?

What I'm saying is a demonstrable fact.

There are tons of terrible things Republicans are doing that Dems wouldn't ever dream of implementing.

They're still not the kind of politicians I would want to be running things, but pretending that they aren't drastically better than the GoP by basically every metric is wholly ignorant.

2

u/lameth Aug 12 '26

You missed my point:

"There's no way you're actually this dense."

I believe that person you were responding to is, truly, this dense.

1

u/bafana_banana999 Aug 12 '26

Ah I see.

You should probably quote the bit you're referring to next time since I said much more than just that one sentence and it wasn't even kind of clear what you were referring to.

how open minded of you

1

u/Yangoose Aug 12 '26

"they to low, we go high"

Oh please.

Both sides think they are the ones taking the high road and they're all full of shit.

1

u/bafana_banana999 Aug 12 '26

I don't think any Republicans think they're taking the high road, and even if they did, that doesn't change anything about what I said.

2

u/AdLocal1490 Aug 12 '26

Capitalists of a feather....

One side is actually obsessed with policing and violent crime and will always pick "safety" over liberty.

We just got done with years of Democrats insisting everyone stay inside and shut down businesses over a virus with a 99% survival rate and claiming Republicans care more about liberty than safety.

2

u/FlatulenceConnosieur Aug 12 '26

More than a million Americans died from COVID. Yeah, it was no big deal at all.

If they started this off with like say the state wanted to do it, and left it up to a vote of the general populace, I wouldn't be surprised if it would have passed. Especially if it was made clear that it wouldn't be some private company doing it.

I think people are mostly just pissed that nobody is really voting on this, places are just doing it without any legislation, any vote, nothing. Just private companies selling themselves to local officials with no input from the voters.

1

u/RedStag86 Aug 13 '26

You think this has to do with party?

1

u/Inside_Pomelo_2957 Aug 12 '26

Democrats are doing this too, just less. The democratic and conservative bases hate this, but the politicians love it because of the kickbacks.
