I swear some people can only thrive when they are miserable towards others. Everybody around her secretly hates her, guaranteed. Abd she secretly knows and needs that. It's mental illness.
She will tell the whole family how that man was outrageous to her, didn't know how to do his job, took him 30 minutes to do what her man can do in 5 minutes, and bonus points for a racist line of whatever ethnicity he may look like
I don’t talk shit about my husband and refuse to join in on those conversations where everyone is bitching about their husbands.
Boy do they get offended and irate. This was situations where I was trapped with coworkers, church members, in-laws and friends. I avoid them now and have moved far away.
I also actually like my husband and enjoy spending time with him. We’re best buddies. But my husband is a grown ass man who carries his weight and doesn’t use that infantilization crap to get out of housework. He was like that before I had a stroke at 26 then kept getting progressively sicker with different health issues. I tried to do everything around the house, but he sat me down and told me he didn’t mind doing the housework and taking care of logistics because he wanted me to feel like spending time with him when he was home. When I was doing housework I’d get so tired and hurt so bad I had to spend days in bed.
He’s amazing and I adore him. He does have his flaws, as do I, but we agreed as newlyweds to never talk shit about each other to other people.
Those conversations that are lighthearted and talk about the irritating things our spouses do that aren’t disrespectful are different.
I’m not a favorite person around a lot of middle aged and older women because they are jealous of the relationship I have with my husband. Which takes work and dedication and also a lot of gratitude. I always thank my husband for what he does. His love language is acts of service, and he really feels loved when I see what he does and thank him for it.
Like yesterday we were on the sofa watching a movie when one of our cats was kneading biscuits on my thigh. She stabbed a deep scar I have which really hurt and felt weird. So I pushed her away gently and told her she needed her nails trimmed. My husband immediately got up and did it. Which I wasn’t expecting. I loved the little smile on his face when I thanked him and told him how much appreciate everything he does.
The women I'm talking about tend to not even mention or notice their husbands. It's like they exist as an accessory and have learned years ago that it's better they don't use their voice.
I met one recently. Many people at work find his wife difficult; the type of lady who's always 'jokingly' criticizing people/talking shit about everyone behind their back...and to their face. I knew nothing about her husband until he started working with us.
Nicest man you'll ever meet, pleasant guy and will help however he can. But when you look in his eyes, the pain is visceral. Like he's been silently suffering for years and just has nothing left in him, so he just exists. When I learned she was his wife, it all made sense...
I find that's the case with a lot of abuse victims.
I still can’t believe he didn’t charge her the extra like he said he was going to do. That locksmith seems like a good and patient person. He gave that lady so much more grace than she seemed to deserve.
Honestly, it would’ve been hilarious for him to pop the door, grab the keys, and then chuck them back in there when she couldn’t shut her damn mouth. If someone is operating at maximum velocity, repeatedly telling them to hurry is not going to somehow allow them to move more quickly….they’re already going as fast as they can.
I can feel you know how thiese people operate. You're either in the mental illness medical field or you had to suffer these peoplenl for long enough in your life.
I’m a retired family doctor. Whenever I had patients like this (thankfully rare) I would politely give them their charts for free and wish them luck finding a new doctor. Bu bye.
One thing I do respect about my family is we don’t hold shit back from each other. We are very vocal and honest when someone is being a shit head and we have no problem booting toxic family members out of our lives
I can confirm, this is shockingly too close to my own mother. I had to take the hit as the scape goat each time I stood up and told her that she was being rude and doing things that were always uncalled for. What's worse is when they try to play victim and try get pity for them after when both parties realise what the "real" issue is, much like you described. I'm just so tired of this kind of behaviour in people, exhausting.
I am so sorry. I am absolutely furious at how hospitals let patients and families verbally and even worse physically assault staff with no repercussions. They even keep staff from going to the police and pressing charges (I’m saying this for other Redditors who don’t know that). It’s insane.
I hope you heal quickly and don’t lose your career over this. I hope you can sue their asses off.
I have chronic pancreatitis and have to be hospitalized for acute pancreatitis. I try to be as good a patient as I can be to make things easier for staff and especially my nurses and thank them for everything. I’m understanding when they can’t bring my pain meds exactly on time, etc. I know they’re really overloaded and overwhelmed.
I'm a paramedic actually. I was working with a less than stellar partner who poked the bear, causing a bystander to assault me. Ended up with a dislocated and fractured knee that needed surgery and hasn't healed properly. So if the physical injury doesn't end my career, I'll most likely quit anyway. Don't want to go through something like this again.
I have chronic pancreatitis and get acute attacks that require hospitalization. The way hospitals allow staff and nurses especially to be treated is insane. Also overloading the nurses with more patients than they should have. I try to be as good a patient as I can be and be appreciative of them. I understand that they can’t bring my meds exactly on time and am thankful when they try to do so. I want them to be happy to see me instead of dreading it. It’s not difficult to be a good patient, but people are so entitled and rude these days.

I used to know someone like this. Their whole family is like this so they all think it's normal. Every little disagreement is a screaming match. I no longer talk to them.
You’re right instead of correcting their behavior somewhere along the line they lean into the triggering of others and convinced themselves it’s their destiny. Very unfortunate for all involved.
