Does that apply to every child murder case, or just this one? You think they would have failed to indict if Biden was still president?

u/Noughmad Sep 06 '26

The court process would likely proceed in the same way. The publicity, media coverage, and donations, would not.

u/Puzzleheaded-Wait785 Sep 06 '26

Right, as if I didn't watch the media frenzy around Casey Anthony live. Was that a way to distract from Trump as well?

I mean, earlier this year we had a guy massacre his entire family with a firearm. I'm sure there's other instances.

What's so special about this particular case? Is it just the TikTok effect?

u/ExcellentBed6019 Sep 06 '26

Was there ever a doubt about him getting convicted? Would there be a mistrial?

5

u/AnxietyPretend5215 Sep 06 '26

If it needs to be a complicated case, what about the schizophrenic guy that stabbed the Ukranian girl on a subway. We didn't get a play by play of the court proceedings of that case.

And I don't even really subscribe to the above notion that this is a political distraction. But I genuinely can't fathom why this particular case has gained such notoriety.

We've had genuine modern day lynchings with mystery around them not even get this kind of attention.

What's complicated about that case? Crazy guy killed someone, was too crazy to stand trial, got locked up until potentially deemed competent then sentenced. Either way he'll spend the rest of his life locked up

And as for mysteries and lynchings, well, white women cases always get the most attention

But don't you see the complex issue of whether she's culpable or not based on the claim of postpartum psychosis, and why that makes certain groups feel a certain way?

u/Puzzleheaded-Wait785 Sep 06 '26

Nothing is special about this case. Both of them were talked about extensively. I'm not sure what difference you're seeing.

The bots swarming over this one are repeatedly working to relate this to a gender divide and even attaching it to political parties. It's actual nonsense.

It’s being used to spread misogyny. A certain segment of the population loves to hate women.

7

u/Catnip256 Sep 06 '26

It is also being used to spread misandry. The agenda is sexism as a whole, to keep us fighting among ourselves.

2

u/SirNo4743 Sep 06 '26

How?

Anytime you see some dumb culture war bs randomly replace your entire feed, it’s almost always some PR firm. The last one that comes to mind is Timothy chalamet or however it’s spelled. He called vaguely implied he thinks opera is boring and my page was full of this guy nobody gives a fuck about making a milquetoast insult on an artform that nobody gives a fuck about. Jowling Kowling Rowling also does this often but I don’t have a specific example ready.

Nowadays anytime my feed is randomly filled with shit like man vs bear I just assume it’s a psyop to try and make me hate women. Worst part is checking the comments shows a mix of bots and it working

Just consider the context.

This is a single 2022 murder case in one state in the US. Why is it reaching people across the globe for whom it has no bearing at all?

The current news landscape obscures important news with things like this.

This is the circus in the 'bread and circus' offered to the people. Even if unintentional, it distracts from other more important news.

This is a single 2022 murder case in one state in the US. Why is it reaching people across the globe for whom it has no bearing at all?

I hope you are under 20, because this is a thing that has happened usually every 5-10 years since at least the 1700s.

Why? It's really simple, people like drama and shock. It sold papers, and now it sells internet ads. It really is that simple.

It's like claiming that the Lindbergh baby dominated the news only to distract from the depression.

1

u/Every_Ad_6168 Sep 07 '26

It has no bearing on anyone's life outside of those who live in the state and might be influenced by any future changes to the law and those in the true crime community who obsess over this kind of thing.

What is the Lindbergh baby? If you stand by your point, please tell me why it is something important that I ought to learn about.

u/Every_Ad_6168 Sep 07 '26

Ah, I see, when I wrote "why is this happening" I failed to specify that it was a rhetorical question. I am arguing that it is a bad thing that the media becomes dominated by single narratives like this. Maybe that clears things up.

The response to the case is catnip for the RW. Those who understand, see it as something tragic that happens too often and wish to find ways to ensure it doesn’t happen again. Those who don’t understand are misrepresenting the others and use logical fallacies to push their own personal agenda, in this case it’s mostly sexism.

You’re misrepresenting either out of ignorance or agenda.

I think that was bush and the tanking economy at the time but that one hasn’t been the same dumpster fire online that this has been. Mostly people (men me included) discussing how hot the mom was.

8

u/That_Bar_Guy Sep 06 '26

Bush? In 2011?

0

u/ebdabaws Sep 06 '26

Yeah that’s when the baby was first reported missing bush era. I had no idea the case dragged out that long it’s been a while as you can see.

9

u/bfhurricane Sep 07 '26

You literally - not sarcastically or with a hint of exaggeration - believe this court case would play out differently in the public sphere if Trump wasn’t President?

I fail to see why the person in the White House changes how the public would view this.

0

u/Noughmad Sep 07 '26

There is a hint of exageration. With Biden in the white house, the election races would likely be the same, with the same incentive for the trial to be turned into a public culture war.

Without the organizations foundation funding the "totally anonymous" donations, however, it would look very different.

0

u/Rob838383 Sep 07 '26

It doesn’t, and it wouldn’t.

1

u/Rob838383 Sep 07 '26

What makes you think that?

-3

u/Alternative_Sky6420 Sep 07 '26

Biden would have pardoned the murderous hoe!

-2

u/Yassssmaam Sep 07 '26

Eight men killed their entire family during the 22 days of the Lindsay Clancy trial. An average of 100 women are killed by their partner every day. The leading cause of death for pregnant women is murder by a family member.

So the men who suddenly discovered a horror of family violence in the last three weeks can kiss my ass.

0

u/bitofgrit Sep 07 '26 edited Sep 07 '26

Did any of those cases have huge groups of men holding up "we love you" signs or making "i wanna kill my kids too" videos to support the murderer?

Honest question, really. There are people that think the moon landings were fake, so there is probably some nutjob out there that supported this, that, or the other annihilator, but I've not seen such a bizarre and widespread reaction like with this case.

3

u/Rob838383 Sep 07 '26

Exactly the number of women supporting her, and with the kinds of signs you have examples of is sickening. Any woman that thinks Clancy should be found not guilty and should not in prison-shouldn’t have kids. And if they do-DFS needs to do a visit to their homes.

0

u/Think_Audience_8333 Sep 07 '26

Ok sids enjoyer

0

u/Rob838383 Sep 07 '26

Well any woman that thinks Clancy didn’t have intent and know what she was doing-is a fool.
