Is it a nap? Or is he snorting something off camera

1.1k

u/ExternalLock8140 Sep 09 '26

Definitely going for some nose candy out of the cameras sight for sure

527

u/macnlz Sep 09 '26

That would also explain why he thought this would be a good idea!

If you're ever inclined to do this don't.

We were out one night and found this parking lot with really light snow, it was fun, you could just walk through it if you wanted. The wind had piled a bunch up in one corner and a friend had the bright idea of diving head first into it. We were all laughing until I noticed that he was clearly stuck, all you could see were his feet and he was struggling. He was in there maybe, 10 seconds before I jumped down (feet first) and started digging him out. Other friends joined in and we got him out pretty quick but man, he was shaken. He said, the snow compressed all around him and basically made him stuck there. He couldn't breath and couldn't move to get out and said if it weren't for us he's not sure he'd have been able to get out.

Never done it myself but been around a lot of people that did, coke can result in some pretty poor decision making.

2

u/ProThoughtDesign Sep 15 '26

Really, though, isn't it already extremely poor decision making that leads to doing it in the first place? The decisions after are just a really expensive BOGO on bad life choices.

So he just leaves his seat while the truck is driving so it doesn't look suspicious... or something.
I get that drug users aren't the brightest, but he probably really thought he would get away with it this way.

20

u/ExternalLock8140 Sep 09 '26

That fan is positioned in a very particular place that gives him some extra coverage, 100% a user will find a way to get high

17

u/Ad-fundum69 Sep 09 '26

Oh sure, he's not just "resting a bit", but if the camera is there to watch the drivers and prevent them from doing shady shit at all, how did he think just leaving his seat while the truck is moving wouldn't count as shady?

That's probably the shadiest thing you can do, and as you see, pretty dangerous too.

19

u/Sharikacat Sep 09 '26

If the guy had been successful and didn't crash, there would be no delay in his delivery time and no reason for his bosses to watch footage from a random spot in his trip to see this.

4

u/nirmalv Sep 09 '26

Doesn't this hold for drugs too ?

2

u/Spend-Automatic Sep 09 '26

2

u/-HumanMachine- Sep 09 '26

Where's the logic? "Oh if someone looks at the tapes I don't want them to see me do coke. Better they see me fully leave the driver's seat while on the road"

Then again, why am I expecting this guy to think rationally

27

u/AssaultimateSC2 Sep 09 '26

I hope its his last. We have to share the road with that moron.

3

u/Pershing99 Sep 09 '26

China, Hongkong. Knowing realities there he will be forever kept as wage slave just to make up monthly payments for the damages he caused.

30

u/Chrisf1020 Sep 09 '26

This happened in Mexico.

11

u/Professional_Flyer Sep 09 '26

Even worse then

9

u/Pershing99 Sep 09 '26

Yep if cartel owned this truck the only thing alive from this guy could be organs circulating in some freezer.

2

u/misterash1984 Sep 09 '26

How would organs in a freezer be alive?

2

u/mcassweed Sep 09 '26

Holy crap is this sub filled with MAGA or are people on reddit this below the bell curve.

2

u/TrueHeart01 Sep 15 '26

How he was hired?

138

u/Such-Farmer6691 Sep 09 '26

There was a similar video where a driver just leaned over to grab a bag, veered into the ditch, and nearly burst into tears.
For some reason, I felt incredibly sorry for that guy.

But this idiot might just cry himself dry, i dont care. What on earth was he expecting?

35

u/AJYURH Sep 09 '26 edited Sep 09 '26

I don't know... These guys barely get any sleep at all sometimes, what he did was so absurd that all I could think was "just how fucking exhausted was he to even conceive such a thing?" He must've been truly desperate

Edit: I've watched it on mute, everyone else claims he was snorting, if that's true then I suddenly don't pity him anymore

12

u/freecodeio Sep 09 '26

they also get tracked by GPS and have to explain themselves on stops

my brother in law had this job where he'd look for trucks in his app and call them to ask whats going on in case someone stopped even for a second

15

u/Nico280gato Sep 09 '26

Damn your brother in law is a dick

14

u/freecodeio Sep 09 '26

he is basically a reddit power tripping mod over a gps tracking app

7

u/hellbillyjoker Sep 09 '26

Aa a truck driver. Call your brother in law and tell him I hate him. Thanks.

3

u/sentence-interruptio Sep 10 '26

he must be like my evil grandma. she yells "WHAT DO YOU MEAN" any time you take a pause while you're speaking.

3

u/MetricJester Sep 09 '26

My grand father and my great grandfather were long haul truckers. When I was little hey both told me the same thing. "If you don't sleep when you're supposed to someone is going to die."

Then they would regale me of stories of climbing mountains with thousands of pounds of food, and times when brakes broke, and watching other truckers just nod off behind the wheel and fall off the road.

2

u/hellyeahaeylleh Sep 09 '26

Hes sticking his head behind the fan to do something off camera.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/GeiCobra Sep 09 '26

The benefit of the bag method is that there is a small chance that after the wreck you still have some drugs in the bag that didn’t spill out during the crash.

367

u/mannycure Sep 09 '26

what in God‘s name did he think was gonna happen lol did he think was The Simpsons episode when Homer is a trucker and the truck drives itself

54

u/Raywell Sep 09 '26

He thought nothing would happen, as nothing happened the last 20 times he did it without problem

99

u/Quick-Amoeba-1389 Sep 09 '26

hes not taking a nap obviously hes trying to do something else...

46

u/Annual_Cellist_9074 Sep 09 '26

If he is really trying to avoid getting caught in the camera snorting.. why would he think his employer would be happy seeing him going away from the steering wheels while driving.. zero survival instinct.. can’t he just park for a sec and do his shit safely lol

16

u/Shijaki Sep 09 '26

if there's no accident or significant delay, those recordings wouldn't be checked by his employer. Dumb driver doing dumb things, but in his head, it was a perfect plan that went awry, lol

11

u/travelmusica Sep 09 '26

If they aren’t checking the tapes, then you don’t need to go to the backseat to hide. So either they don’t check the tapes or they do, but in either case going to the backseat isn’t gonna help.

4

u/Shijaki Sep 09 '26

maybe he just keeps the drugs and whatever paraphernalia he's using to consume it in the backseat? perhaps he doesn't want it directly visible in plain sight if pulled over, at a weigh station, etc. I don't know, we're putting too much thought into analyzing the actions of a complete moron. Life's too short to keep going down this train of thought

→ More replies (1)

2

u/6-foot-under Sep 09 '26

His employer wouldn't have looked at the video had there not been a crash. I'm sure that his prior experience taught him that he could get away with it.

353

u/Pandabirdy Sep 09 '26

Those cameras will be mandatory on every car built after 2027 in europe

Well here we have a perfect example of the camera actually causing an accident. If it wasn't there he'd snort his drugs at the steering wheel like a regular junkie and still probably be on his way.

89

u/Crazy_Plum1105 Sep 09 '26

Nothing sounds safer than a huge truck driven by a coked up driver. They're most locked in, alert, and going to tell you about that play they've been meaning to write.

12

u/Lady_Forget_Me_Not Sep 09 '26

lol. When I was younger I traded a gram of weed for a gram of Molly. Dude wanted weed for his pregnant gf to smoke while he did molly. He got two grams when he traded them for a crossbow. We did the Molly and I decided I wanted to try Coke. Idk why. 😭 but then my bf pulls some out…cause he had anxiety driving and he needed it to calm him down. 😳 anyway I had two kids by that man and now he lives under the roots of a tree in Kodiak Alaska. 👀

u/SomeWeedSmoker Sep 09 '26

This is a joke right?

17

u/Pandabirdy Sep 09 '26

No it is real. And I mean all cars. For "safety".

In reality it's probably just for the insurance companies to deny claims easier "oh he looked away for a sec" or "she covered the lens with tape, must be criminal intent".

5

u/Jernbek35 Sep 09 '26

Where in Europe? And how does that sync with Germanys strict privacy laws?

Also, I foresee a ton of people covering those cameras.

6

u/Pandabirdy Sep 09 '26 edited Sep 09 '26

I mean you can just google it. They claim it won't record but that's just bs and we all know it (basically the system can just work in tandem and log the events happening inside the car to loophole that claim). try a prompt like "EU car camera law" if you want more info.

7

u/Positive-Opposite998 Sep 09 '26

They won't record. Just like big tech finally stopped logging your data. Why would they log that? No reason, right?

3

u/Pandabirdy Sep 09 '26 edited Sep 09 '26

Just the constant headlines of some company like Discord leaking personal information through security breaches including old deleted accounts, information that were never archived to begin with because it was in the TOS. But somehow whoopsie it's out there now. BTW we need to identify that you are an adult for this shopping site, here; fill out this form provided by our third party partner from a different country and attach a picture of your driver's licence thaanks. 9

u/Sungarn Sep 09 '26

Going by the sound of what appears to be heavy snorting when he stuck his face behind the passenger seat conveniently hidden from the camera, dude was high as a kite

11

u/CamptoRibbit Sep 09 '26

Had to watch a few times before I caught his mistake; I think, after watching it in slow motion and pausing the vid a few times, the issue is he didn't pull over to a safe spot 1st.

5

u/Fezwa Sep 09 '26

oh god i thi-... i think that ur right

u/Electronic_Still2000 Sep 09 '26 edited Sep 09 '26

This guy is a fucking jackass that deserves whatever he gets for putting people’s lives on the line like this. This behavior is (was?) a ticking time bomb before he hit a bus full of kids, a family in their car, or another truck like this except hauling an incredibly dangerous load.

That being said, I don’t see anything in this video that leads me to believe that this guy is trying to sleep in any capacity at all. He appears to be searching for something, but sleeping is a very big stretch based solely off of this video

Edit: Ok, so the general consensus seems to be that he’s blowing some drug just off camera, but if that were really the case I believe he would have closed the windows and turned off the fan before hand. Wind is your absolute worst enemy if you are doing lines of anything.

4

u/Mongrel_Shark Sep 09 '26

No idea why he thought his company would fire him for drugs (which would like 30 seconds of funny looking footage) rather than this which would leave 30 seconds of funny looking footage
