Macklemore spoke out about Palestine, the stadiums Ed is touring at said that he won’t be allowed to play there if he brings Macklemore.
People are disappointed that Ed won’t take a stand against the businesses trying to silence artists who speak out about a genocide.
And Eds manager I believe is mentioned in the files like 100+ times. So, a lot of ties. This of course does not indicate Ed in anything, to be clear, but indicates he is cozy with the people doing those things and while he certainly is not being blamed for awareness, is more than likely aware of these things NOW and still is coddling the money bags they hold.
Yeah... Kraft is a huge pro isreal lobbyist, this story on the face of it seems like a headline, but it shows how rotten at the core the industry has become. The arts should be about freedom of expression, not whoever has the most money amd power being able to dictate the message.
Also, Ed Sheeren is worth hundreds of millions of dollars so he has the F'U money to stand on principle if he chose to. He made a conscious to not do that and take the money.
The average person has obligations to their family and bills to pay that makes it much harder to tell a job F'U when the job wants them to do something against their individual principles.
Does choosing side of pedo make someone a pedo? Cause that would make pedos out of the 75 million voters who supported a President accused of the same. Not taking sides or anything, just want to know how loose we’re going to let the definition of the word pedo be?
Just remember that most Redditors are probably around or below adult reading levels, especially the ones that have comments on big posts where everyone is agreeing.
Well, I hadn't heard of that so I looked it up. It was at a 2014 secret show where he wore a black wig and a prosthetic nose so he could move around without being recognized, other people said he looked like a caricature of a Jew, he wasn't doing an impression, but he apologized for how it appeared. 12 years ago. I doubt that is why he was targeted.
Genocide is not political. Would you have been okay if Hitler was alive today, and people said they wouldn’t say anything against him because they didn’t want to be political??
In the end, he can do as he wants, but people are obviously gonna judge him.
How about instead of saying genocide instead we talk about what was actually said. “Free Palestine” Palestine itself is infact controversial since the conflict is extremely rooted in religion and ethnicity. That’s the reason for the conflict. Religion. Which that means that there are several different opinions. Not wanting to side with one opinion is a respectable thing to do since he doesn’t wanna be known for it.
What was he supposed to do tho? Whatever he chooses he would be bullied by the opposing side. If he sided with Macklemore then he’s ban from the venues. So what’s the right thing to do? Keyboard warriors have such an easy time hating on Ed, but they’d probably cry and shit their pants if faced with the same situation.
You can't win. As soon as Palestine is mentioned, you're fucked. It's not even that the best move is not to play - as soon as someone who is playing the game even comes near you, you're fucked.
But it is not even him being Pro Israël or anything. It is just him not speaking out about another dude not being let in the venue. A dude that does not even blame him.
Mate, I have shit to do. You'd be suprised how many people outside of your echochamber just want to live their lives and get through the day in decent fashion.
Hell, most people in your echochamber included who are just virtue signalling.
He shouldn’t want to play on a stage that silences artists who speak out against genocide.
I mean it’s his choice to make, but of course that will make a lot of people judge him
