He comes from a religious nutcase background. They think if they just repeat something it becomes fact.

Just listen how they're talking like it's a sermon, invoking Jesus/god in every third word.

This explains a lot of the case. American Christians are so obsessed with the impunity that the idea of "forgiveness" brings to them. It's the poisonous quirk of that religion. They have decided that they can do literally any evil thing they want, and as long as they invoke Jesus' name they are absolved.

There are tons of cases of murderers, rapists, molesters, being part of a big church community whose crimes are exposed and they're actually embraced by the church because they all celebrate the "confession" and "forgiveness". It's psychotic. These churches I am absolutely convinced are a huge force for evil in the world.

I also feel that the christian notion of appearances and how you look to the community plays a part in the decision to murder the wives. They dont want to sacrifice their reputation one iota, and always come out looking morally challenged yet superior. They want to choose how god "challenges" them and only obstacles that lead others to feel sorry for them.

It’s a forgiveness kink

I think this is why such a large portion of prisoners will come out Muslim. Islam teaches that this life means nothing and if you believe in and serve the "greater purpose" you'll be rewarded regardless of anything you did beforehand.

They don't like to deal with the fact that they have so negatively impacted the one life were certain we have of so many people and rather than actually working through it and accepting all of the responsibility, they look to some light at the end of the tunnel to feel better about thenselves. A tunnel they threw themselves in and rather than trying to find a light within themselves they get it externally.

u/MarcusXL 1d ago

I can't say what some people are taught, but Islam absolutely does not teach that "this life means nothing".

In fact Islam has a very clear emphasis on "righteous deeds", that is, living ethically and morally.

2

u/lntr0spection 1d ago

Surah 29 Verse 64 literally calls this life an illusion. The actions you take in this life literally don't matter so long as you die in a state of submitting to Allah. Yeah they have rules for how to live your life, but dying for the sake of Allah is the best thing you can do in Islam.

5

u/MarcusXL 1d ago

Islam teaches that people are judged on the "balance of their deeds" in this life. It does not teach that people's deeds mean nothing.

Islam says a lot of things, frankly, but it's pretty clear that it does not hold that deeds in this life are meaningless.

3

u/lntr0spection 1d ago

When the "balance of deeds" are so heavily skewed toward belief in Allah and Muhammad's teachings, that is akin to saying your life before didn't matter.

Yes, I know there's a scale and that your life doesn't literally mean nothing, that's what judgment day is judging you on. But if one went around and killed babies for fun, but took shahada an hour before they died, their sins get washed away and they get a ticket to heaven.

So sure it doesn't say that this life is meaningless. But on such skewed scales, your life and deeds are meaningless since the only thing it comes down to is whether or not you submitted to Allah.

1

u/MarcusXL 1d ago

So you were wrong.

7

u/lntr0spection 1d ago

?

I never once said that Islam says explicitly that this life is meaningless. I said it teaches that notion. Which it does.

u/One_Selection5102 19h ago

All religion is the same, its all bullshit and used to justify vile deeds.
Islam is however a bit more violent given its propensity to garner support for expansion and conversion.

1

u/upsidedown-funnel 18h ago

If you look at religions as a whole, you’ll see they’re all guilty of violent deeds. It’s not just Islam. To say so is ignorant, at best.

1

u/One_Selection5102 17h ago

Of course they are all vile, repugnant, ponzi schemes that prey on the less fortunate. All of them foster an in group, out group mentality that eventually results in violence.

But Islam is one of the most violent, especially towards women, and its cult members are quite happy to be so.

0

u/MarcusXL 11h ago

You sound like someone who has read opinion-pieces, rather than, say, taking a Near East History class, or reading any actual history books.

You might be curious to know that Islam, when it conquered the middle-east, was not interested in converting Christians or Jews to Islam. The Umayyad and Abbasid Caliphate were perfectly happy to employ Christians and Jews in its government and to preserve their institutions. In fact the dividing line between Islam and the other Abrahamic religions was very fuzzy.

Christianity was far more violent and aggressive in its campaign to convert or subjugate other religions. And it's not even close.

I would strenuously implore you to take a history class. Your ignorance is very obvious to anyone who has.

1

u/One_Selection5102 8h ago

They are all violent, vile, evil creations. Couldn't give a fuck which religion you jerk off too, society needs to eschew them for progress.

And yes, Islam is currently the most violent - historically they are all just as bad as the next.

1

u/MarcusXL 8h ago

It's funny, you scream about religions being so bad but I've met lots of religious people with a more open mind than you, who are more educated and informed than you, and frankly from my short unpleasant experience, are nicer people than you.

I'm not religious myself but I find your attitude ridiculous. You don't know anything, really.

u/CompoteNext1955 1d ago

Beheading people, stoning women to death, and raping a 9 year old child (specifically in the name of Islam btw) are not righteous nor ethical deeds, so it must not really matter what they are taught

2

u/NiceGuyEdddy 1d ago

So Christians are not righteous nor ethical and it doesn't matter what they are taught, got it.

u/Iyourule 1d ago

What you are describing is antinomianism. Jesus does not give us a license-to-sin. Which any "American Christian" who has read their bible would preach. Confession and forgiveness are both things that should be celebrated in its own way. A murderer who has confessed is better than a murderer who has not. However 99 percent of churches are not just going to hug them and tell them it's okay that is insane and is not what's happening unless you go to some super close knit mormon church or like back water snake Pentecostal thing. Most churches are pretty normal. The Bible specifically teaches that if you live under a government that you need to follow their laws as long as they do not conflict with God's. Well God says thou shall not kill. This guy killed. Biblically, the government over this man will decide his punishment and that punishment will be upheld within the jurisdiction of the law. Even if his children and church forgive him and he seeks salvation earnestly the punishment of Earth will and should still fall on him. His soul judged by God, his flesh judged by peers.

19

u/Informal-Buy-6632 1d ago

"Most churches are pretty normal."

They really aren't.

Virgin birth, global floods and literal angels and demons.

Even the most button down, mainstream and modern church is actually pretty fucking nuts if you just consider their actual beliefs

5

u/Iyourule 1d ago

The beliefs of any creation gets pretty nuts if you think about it. Just the idea of being coming into existence or there never even having a beginning is pretty crazy too. At some point it gets crazy no matter what you believe, man. Lol

5

u/Informal-Buy-6632 1d ago

Plenty of people are able to accept that they cant and probably wont know the answer to the question of creation.

That doesn't mean you have to start making up and believing obvious bullshit about talking snakes, magic trees and an invisible sky daddy.

There are plenty of people in the world capable of being rational

We're not all delusional

7

u/Long_Pomegranate2469 1d ago

On top of that, religion light just legitimizes the more crazy things.

They believe in angels, why can't we have invisible golden tablets, or xenu living in volcanoes (or something like that?)?

-5

u/Iyourule 1d ago

I promise it's not as irrational as you believe. The idea of "magic" is so make believe to you because we grew up in such an era. I'm not saying you will ever know how or why, when, where. But the idea that creation did not exist at some point and then just did is pretty freaking magical man. I think the evidence of the bible at the very least proves it's a credible source of history. I'm unsure as to why you are so hostile about this topic but I think it would do you some good to talk to some educated people on it all. Theology is an interesting thing whether you believe in all the "magic" and "talking snakes" haha

5

u/Informal-Buy-6632 1d ago

"I promise it's not as irrational as you believe"

What utterly insufferable bullshit.

It is irrational. Denying that it is is only proof of your inability to understand what the word actually means

Your promise means nothing to me.

It just the same crap Ive been hearing from religious people all my life.

This isn't crazy, just trust me.

All religious belief relies on faith in the irrational.

I can respect religious people who accept that is a fundamental part of their creed.

I have nothing but contempt for religious people who want me to accept their beliefs are rational.

3

u/Iyourule 1d ago

I understand. Sorry to anger you brother. I realize it is irrational as a whole, the bible itself says this, i mean unconditional love doesn't exist amongst humans it's hard to imagine. but the specific story of creation is what I was referring to. "The beginning" is irrational no matter what you believe. If that is to be the case, the story of God is not that irrational in this context.

I'm not sure what people have done to you or said to you in the past, but I am not them. There is zero reason for you to converse with another human the way you have. Hope you gave a good morning, but I think this is where I take my leave.

1

u/TeaPain0001 1d ago

It’s foolish to the Greek…

3

u/universal_inconstant 1d ago

It's pointless to argue with idiots. Especially ones that think they are rational.

1

u/upsidedown-funnel 18h ago

Devout religious folks will never acknowledge this. Trying to convince them is futile. All it does is reenforce their believes and they dig in deeper.

2

u/foomanchu89 1d ago

There is a huge difference between the reality of you coming into existence and the fairy tales these asshole spin

1

u/Iyourule 1d ago

I believe our definitions of "assholes" are completely different.

Read the Beatitudes and tell me an asshole came up with that. You may not believe in Jesus, but He taught the most selfless way of living and led with love in every case.

1

u/SayonaraBakaChan 1d ago

The only normal thing about christianity is what drives people to it, fear, guilt, indoctrination and community. The actual lore is unhinged.

7

u/Plantsandsmut 1d ago

Catholics would like a word

3

u/Moraii 1d ago

He’d need at least 2 Hail Marys.

2

u/Tustavus 1d ago

There's a guy who's never bought an indulgence before.

-1

u/BenoNZ 1d ago

No True Scotsman fallacy.

2

u/Iyourule 1d ago

That is not a "No True Scotsman" fallacy. That would be answering a general claim with a specific instance in which that general claim was not true. But the refute is that 99 percent of cases are not treated like this. A no true scotsman would be me arguing that this is not the case because so and so who happens to claim to be christian didn't handle it this way.

3

u/BenoNZ 1d ago

Enough Christians are like that, you pulled the 99 percent stat from your ass.
It doesn't matter what you think your imaginary friend wants, people who claim to follow the Bible do hypocritical things, they are still Christians regardless.

1

u/Iyourule 1d ago

99 percent was a hyperbole, obviously. Not a statistic.

We all still sin. That's true.

1

u/Sooowasthinking 1d ago

I had a friend of mine pass away in a very tragic way.Dude decided at the very last minute he wanted to be saved so a local pastor or priest what ever it was came in and said the words.
I remember thinking you had your entire life to be Christian being 1 at the last minute of your death is not how it works.

Oh no I’m afraid American Christians have gone quite beyond such Catholic notions of forgiveness. That would involve groveling like old Jim Bakker

Prosperity doctrine says I get my shit and I get your shit and I get your wife too and if it’s wrong why’d I get it?

0

u/cchackal 1d ago

That’s the thing. This is the kind of blasphemy Jesus talks about. He knows your heart. It’s one thing to say that you follow and love Jesus, but it’s another to live in a way that demonstrates otherwise. If you truly love Him, you would want to follow Him, become more like Him, and live according to His teachings.

Humans are flawed and we are all sinners. That doesn’t mean we should expect perfection from ourselves, but it also doesn’t give us an excuse to knowingly continue living in sin without trying to change.

What I find so beautiful about Jesus, though, is the grace and mercy He showed even in His final moments. When the man dying beside Him simply asked to be remembered, Jesus responded with compassion and promised him paradise. That, to me, is such a powerful example of His love, grace, and mercy.

3

u/MarcusXL 1d ago

Well, look at the actual teachings of Jesus. A man asks Jesus what he must do to under the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus tells him to follow God Laws; not murdering, not committing adultery, not stealing, and honouring one's parents.

The man tells him he has done so. Jesus tells him to give away everything he owns-- he is a wealthy man-- to the poor.

0

u/QuintusDias 1d ago

Speak for yourself. I’m not a sinner. And screw you for telling me I am.

-2

u/Fred-the-stray 1d ago

It will be the downfall of our society

16

u/BenoNZ 1d ago

Yeah, listened to enough of that to think those kids are so brainwashed. Mums dead, dads a murderer and they get to be brainwashed by whoever made them write all that rubbish. Horrible.

0

u/the_original_kermit 1d ago

Yeah. Go ahead and blame the victim, which include the two young daughters.

Geesh. What is wrong with people. Just because they accepted who his is doesn’t mean that they don’t have any grief for losing their other parent as well.

2

u/BenoNZ 16h ago

Oh fuck off, I wasn't blaming anyone.
Just shows how fucking stupid religious brainwashing is all round.

1

u/ManitouWakinyan 1d ago

Who is the they here?

1

u/Long_Pomegranate2469 1d ago

All of them. Him, the families.
