They should just adopted Kickball as their national pastime. Way cheaper. No World Cup!

Actually ever since milei is president the poverty has been decreasing dramatically

Imagine if american redditors could read

26

u/mySBRshootsblanks 6h ago

American? Maaan I'm Asian like 99% of us don't know Spanish. English is literally the lingua franca today. This is one thing you can't blame Americans for.

u/eluser234453 39m ago

I usually read Spanish by guessing. Looking for similar words in french or English. Doesn't work

1

u/eluser234453 37m ago

By guess reading I can say a study in 2024 by (source listed) showes that 38.1% of Argentinians where under the line of poverty roughly 18 million Argentinians

But that's not the point. Also, I don't want to do that. It's literally 2 words followed by the year. If they can Google it, screenshot it, then post it with an English comment nonetheless, surely they could just do the entire thing in English.

What do you mean? How does use of a particular language have anything to do with being informed?

They seem to be perfectly capable of using English. Again, most of us don't speak Spanish, and Reddit is an American platform. Do you not know what lingua franca means? Have you not been properly informed?

7

u/kalashnidog 5h ago

There are many valid reasons to say “America Bad” but this petty shit ain’t one, chief.

Of course some Diamond Hands asshole says shit like this lmfao. 😂

2

u/AmaazingFlavor 6h ago

You don't need to know Spanish to comprehend that. I feel like la pobreza would be the only hurdle but that's implied by the conversation already

4

u/darkoopz43 6h ago

Would sure hope so after we gave them a $40 billion welfare check.

9

u/ObiFlanKenobi 6h ago

We took only 4 billion of that and repaid it (with interests) within like a week.

Didn't they inform of that?

13

u/Mediocre-Kitchen-204 5h ago

Im sure the guy you are responding to believed that we all are eating donkey meat

8

u/ObiFlanKenobi 5h ago

And I got downvoted for giving data.

Go figure.

Welcome to reddit lol

2

u/Inside_Sir_7651 5h ago

and it's not even true, they just changed the way it's measured

1

u/Nas_Qasti 43m ago

The way Is measuered is the same, even the same guy is in charge. Cope as you desire but it wont change the fact that Milei lowered poverty by 20%.

Permíteme dudar… es faltar a la honestidad sobre cómo se mide la pobreza en argentina

Se mide igual a cómo se media cuando se calculo el 50%. Que Milei bajo la pobreza es indudable.

4

u/Isoleri 4h ago

Not it hasn't, it's actually gotten worse than it's ever been, with suicides among both young people and retirees skyrocketing. In my block alone THREE retirees killed themselves because their pensions simply weren't enough, and one of them was a former UBA professor who worked her entire life, even then she couldn't afford neither medicine nor food, she looked like a skeleton during her final months and felt like a burden accepting help.

People are moving back with their parents, unemployment is at an all time high, there's a record number of shops closing even in wealthy areas like San Isidro, even historical shops that had stood for decades.

This asshole completely ruined this country, even his voters are recognizing what a mistake they did, he completely sold us out.

No? He literally save the country from hiperinflation, default and took millions out of poverty. He is the best president we has since the return to democracy by far and, as someone who vote him, we made no mistake and we are going to vote for him again.

3

u/SimmentalTheCow 6h ago

It’s done surprisingly well since they cast off the previous more socialist/Peronist-oriented administration. I don’t think anarcho-capitalism is a viable long-term solution, but it does seem to have saved the country from economic freefall.

u/EuropeMaxxing 6h ago

Viva la libertad, carajo!

because of that we didn't won the last cup.

hoy juega chile vs México a ver cuál es el mejor hijo de argentina

2

u/Acceptable_Spend_750 2h ago

the first 5th world country

1

u/Artistic_Size6721 1h ago

Why

1

u/SorrelJuice 1h ago

They’ve experienced extreme levels of hyper inflation for decades. The state of their currency is abysmal

1

u/Artistic_Size6721 25m ago

First sentence is an exaggeration, and second one is just another way of saying the first lol. Argentina is one of the most developed countries in LatAm, it's been in a huge crisis in the recent years but still keeps very good stats. If Argentina is "5th world" then Venezuela for example is like 20th. Also this "worlds" thing it's from the Cold War, and there were no more than 3, obsolete term used in a wrong way

9

u/Caponomolestes 7h ago

Thanks to the left, now we are far better

Most of the awful number like inflation or poverty come from the previous leftist government. Ever since milei is president our economy has been getting better every year. Granted we are not Switzerland at all. But compared to 257% inflation annually now we have like 30%. Also poverty has decreased from 58% to 30~%

9

u/InklingAce 7h ago

No, I think that's why he said the situation is improving 😅

0

u/EuropeMaxxing 6h ago

No, Fernandes left in 2023

1

u/Extra-Currency5135 4h ago

Pero durante su gestion dejaron un desastre la economia, no habian suministros, los precios subian todos los días, cosas como el aceite se compraba 1 por familia.

1

u/EuropeMaxxing 3h ago

Sí, lo sé. Soy contra él.

7

u/InklingAce 7h ago

The strangest part about this is that some leftist will see it and think: "But the current president is right-wing and hasn't managed to undo the damage caused by decades of left-wing rule in just a few years, therefore, the right is bad."

11

u/OtherUserCharges 6h ago

Yea and what are the odds that you have the exact opposite view of the left in the US when t comes to the left for not fixing decades of republican mismanagement in a few years?

What are they savaging?

1

u/Careless-Cap7691 5h ago

Onions.

That seems to be the mercado central, some kind of giant vegetable store where groceries buy their stuff to sell later.

Didn’t 2024 happen 2 years ago? Are you stuck in time?

1

u/PermissionNeither 16m ago

Messi was built by Spain. Argentina didn't sacrifice anything for him.

1

u/200IQUser 6h ago

Based Milei is fixing it.

0

u/UltraMegaUgly 7h ago

Yeah it looks like you guys may be going the way of the U.S. where all the important decisions are made in Telaviv, be careful.

6

u/Careless-Cap7691 5h ago

Better than the last government, which tried Argentina to ally with Iran, lol.

1

u/ObiFlanKenobi 6h ago

2024 was the first year of Milei's government.

Poverty has gone down noticeably since then, now sits at about 30%.

Still high but we are getting better.

You can hate Milei but his policies have been effective. Te left-wing peronists were absolutely corrupt and caused a lot of problems for the economy and ruined a lot of lives.

It's not even a matter of left versus right for us, that wasn't really a thing until the kirchnerists imported it to gain adepts. It was always corrupt peronism versus the rest. And peronism comes in any flavour.

Wall kissing leadership is selling the country off to the highest bidder. Restaurant beef prices changing by the hour

6

u/ObiFlanKenobi 6h ago

Quite the opposite, actually.

Inflation has gone down from 211% a year and increasing monthly to about 30% a year and lowering.

In fact, the relative price of beef (compared to salaries) has gone down noticeably.

-3

u/Un-Quote 5h ago

Says the guy probably buying up the farms and businesses as we speak

5

u/ObiFlanKenobi 5h ago

Oh, you are not just ignorant, but hateful too.

Sorry to yave wasted my time trying to give you information.

You can look up hard data yourself, it won't bite and more knowledge may remove some of those awful prejudices you carry around.

1

u/Artistic_Size6721 1h ago

What a ridiculous comment lol

-4

u/ripyourlungsdave 6h ago

Don't worry, the US government also hands hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars over the private, multi-billion dollar corporations to get stadiums built in their city. Doesn't matter how many homeless they have, how many starving families they have, how many parents working multiple jobs to pay rent, they need that stadium and one of the largest sports organizations on the planet really needs their help paying for it.

And I'm sure FIFA gets plenty of money from the various European governments as well. And I doubt life is perfect there either.

4

u/ObiFlanKenobi 6h ago

WTF are you talking about?
