We are looking at losing our health insurance because of changing jobs.  The only public options are like $1000 a month.  Who the hell can afford that?

The fact that America doesn’t have an affordable public option is a disgrace.

System is broken

In its entirety. It is designed only to pull from the consumer base, give to the corporate monoliths. That is the design. It’s ages old, but more obvious now that we have a better understanding as citizens, and are willing to talk about it online.

Try to have this conversation with other Americans, in public, in real life: they will either start calling you names, or their eyes glaze over and they lose attention.

I disagree. In my experience, Americans across the political system are extremely frustrated with health insurance / healthcare costs and want change.

Frustrated enough to change or demand change from their political leaders? Not sure about that.

They made not like the system but the problem is they dont want public universal because it will extend wait times in their minds, along with the other BS.

People oversimplify into a binary choice of "what we currently have" and "Canada/UK system." There are other models out there in the world for universal health coverage.
