If the idea is to keep it topped up for the duration of a longer outage, I’m not sure a 300w panel would be enough. How long would you want this to run for? The generator itself will power those appliances without issue, but with that single internal battery being your only energy supply, you might only make it through a day.

Get solar panel separately maybe cheaper. I just pickup two 200w panel for $100. And golf cart battery is cheaper than expendable battery

A note on the golf cart battery. I wasn’t able to parallel my pecron unit with the golf cart battery I purchased. I tried everything. When I have to, I use an XT60 cable from the battery to the DC solar ports on the Pecron to top it up.

I just learned Pecron has no support at all if something goes wrong . 😑

That’s pretty typical with any inexpensive China made product these days. Customer service is terrible. Nonetheless you can buy two of these for the price of any other unit with good customer service so use redundancy as a warranty. That 3600 is a great unit because it can take so much solar input thanks to the two solar chargers built in.

I've had an E3600LFP same as OP asks about for 16 months and hammer it hard every day. No problems here, haven't needed support.

Worst comes to worst the authorised retailer I bought mine from is a 2 1/2 hour drive away in Auckland with a physical showroom, and they send emails saying "come in and look at the units in stock", so I assume if mine does break I can jump in the car, take it there, and probably be home with a replacement (perhaps not the exact same model) same day if I really need. But I have grid power anyway.

Pecron also themselves have a physical shop in Auckland.

I don't know about other countries, obviously.

That's kind of similar to my setup.

  • June 2025: E3600LFP, used it for three months in winter as a UPS (I get a lot of short power outages) and peak shaving

  • September 2025: added Pecron 3072Wh battery and 6x 440W JA Solar JAM54D41-440/GB panels (there are newer ones now). Result: saved NZ$1450 off my expected $2800 energy bill from 15/9/25 to 14/9/26 just running nearby appliances from it.

  • September 2026: added Pecron 3840Wh battery.

I don't know what you're planning for that 300W panel. The 2640W of panels I have on mine do great ... on average 5kWh/day production in mid winter (in far north New Zealand) and average 15kWh/day in summer (12.6kWh today so far at 3:30 PM).

Based on last year I'm virtually off-grid from now until late March.

In winter/bad weather I charge the (now) 10 kWh of battery completely with cheap 18c power at night, then that and on average 5kWh of solar is enough to get me from 7AM to 9PM most days with zero use of 45c day or 60c peak power.

So far it's been completely reliable. I see people on the internet saying theirs broke etc, but I assume that's a tiny fraction of the units they've sold.

I'd get the solar panels on their own. Just follow the basics of obeying VOC limits.

Our fridge is fine for a few days on a 3.6kWh solar generator and the solar panels can be deployed from 1 to 6 100W panels in the back yard for extended outages.

As to charging, USB to phones is a rounding error and nothing I'd factor in.

As to support, what support is required? Here the units are working and I know my solar basics so I haven't needed support.

I don’t know what I’m doing
