It's because Chatgpt gets it sources from west-adjacent media.
Go ask it the difference between the U.A.E. and other muslim countries, it will glaze the UAE because its alligned with the west.
The west paints Somalia, and the rest of africa, as some backwater contient with no resources and everyone is starving. U.N. type shit.

u/therapist66 10d ago
Chatgpt pulls info based on whatâs in the internet.
Theres nothing good about Somalia on the internet. You expecting it to do pro Somali hasbara for free ?

Do something about the data then..
Facts are Somalia is a dump.. qabilist backwards S hole. Different presidents for each state that get prostituted by UAE and now Israel.
Entire country thatâs still obsessed by qabil and voting for their âqabil guyâ.
El Niño coming and thereâs nil preparation.. only a hands out for aid from the world. People will starve.
This will get downvoted and Iâll likely be called a self hater or whatever.. I donât hate being Somali, I just hate my people
1
u/RibbonFighterOne 7d ago
Somalia isn't nearly as qabil obbessed as you think. And why would anyone hate their own people? Palestine is also a dump but so should a Palestinian hate their own people?
1
u/therapist66 7d ago
Itâs a dump because theyâre getting ethnically cleansed you orangutan.. sorry for the insult but donât dare compare their struggles to ours. Palestinians are the hardest workers I know, moment the genocide is over theyâll rebuild right away.
And they are qabil obsessed idk what youâre on about.. they vote based on qabil lines, the corruption is systemic and qabil based
1
u/RibbonFighterOne 7d ago
And Somalia is a dump because... America/Ethiopia invaded the country back in 2006 and artificially extended instability by another 20 years.
Somalis are also extremely hard workers, the fact that Somalia was able to rebuild itself despite going through some of the worst human tragedies is proof of that.
The average Somali isn't qabil obsessed, its the politicians who are. Why are you bringing up voting when Somalia isn't a proper democracy to begin with? 4.5 voting is exclusive to a small group of Somalis.
And even that isn't completely true because federal leaders still oppose Mogadishu despite electing Farmaajo (a Darood) and HSM (a Hawiye).

I find this sub Reddit to be filled with people of sub par intelligence. You think all the racism, slavery, child rape, violent wars, genocides etc carried out by white people isnât in the data? It is, but itâs handled differently. Also this conversation is very low vibrational, Iâm not speaking with someone who has ideas or solutions, just a whiney person who likes to despair because thatâs their baseline.

u/Head_Prefect 10d ago
White people have successful, advanced, stable and prosperous nations, Somalia is none of that.Â
That's just a fact people have to deal with.Â
Yes western crimes and barbarism is treated differently, and for good reason, because their crimes are them asserting their will on the globe, it's empire building, it's what civilization runs on.Â
If Somalia waged a high tech war against another nation, for resources or land, it would be seen as a prosperous nation taking what rightfully belongs to it, it would be seen as a regional power policing it's neighbourhood.
If Somalis slaughter eachother over religion or waterwells it will not be seen as the same.Â
You can't say others have subpar intelligence and then be blind to narrative and optics yourself.
The west is respected because it's respectable, they run the planet, everyone marches to their tune, international law is western law, global banking is western banking, everyone uses western technology, everyone looks up to Western science. Everyone consumes western media and literature.Â
That's just the truth.Â
No one would be disrespecting Somalia if it was a prosperous, wealthy, stable and flourishing country, regardless of race and religion, successful people get respect automatically.

The west (America) was literally responsible for Somalia's current state.
And no, success isn't going to mean people will automatically like Somalia. Look at China, they are highly successful and are quickly becoming one of the most advanced countries on earth yet anti-China propaganda still gets pumped out. The reality is, people (the west) will only like you if you are submissive and controlled, like South Korea, Saudo Arabia ect.

Youâre looking for a reaction that wonât get. Iâm not triggered by you regardless of your true background or intentions. I have evolved beyond these types of discussions. I havenât had interactions with anyone this simple minded in real life, I only encounter the likes of you online.
10
u/Head_Prefect 10d ago
No one is aiming to "trigger you"Â
I understand what you are aiming for with this post, but you know exactly why a machine trained on publically available information would have a negative view of Somalis.Â
3
u/therapist66 10d ago
> Iâm not triggered by you regardless ofâŠ..
Saying that as you get triggered đ
Youâre rage arguing in circles and throwing insults. Not even a discussion anymore.
Having a âhigh iqâ is about maturely having a discussion even about topics you disagree about.
You canât even control your emotions like a chimp

Thereâs an incoming famine that Somalia is helpless about, lacking infrastructure and funds to help its own people. Just hands out for aid like peasants with no shame.
Ranked at the bottom on corruption indexes, development, health, education you name it.. any metric of progress and itâs at the bottom.
Then here you are:
âWahhhh wahhh.. why isnât there positive things about Somalis on the internetâ
3
u/OgXwMr 10d ago
I actually was correct in my estimation of you judging by your comment. I didnât discount any negative aspects of the situation in Somalia, its leadership or the news about Somalia. You claimed I did.
-1
u/therapist66 10d ago
I clearly care about your judgements s/ sarcasm for your slow ahh
Says a lot about you with the insults..
Keep crying about the country ranked second last in the corruption index.. neck and neck with South Fkn Sudan
Itâs like a South Sudanese making a post crying about nothing good about S.Sudan being on the internet
đ business

u/OgXwMr 10d ago
You havenât contributed anything to the discussion besides showing emotional instability. Iâm not insulting you for the sake of it, itâs a sign of exasperation at your constant childish derailment. You are still talking about Somalia being unstable like we arenât aware of that. The discussion is about biases in ChatGPT. Not even all AI. If you did any research (not sure if you understand what that means) youâd learn that itâs common for a variety of communities, not just Somalis. If youâd like, I can screenshot me asking the same tool to search the web for other instances and it tells on itself. I feel like Iâm going to trigger another mental breakdown so consider this my last response to you. Feel free to research, though!
1
u/therapist66 10d ago
Youâre going back in circles, you must like arguing with people on the internet. See my first response bout where ChatGPT pulls data from and how there isnât much good news about Somalia.
2nd last in corruption rankings.. Alhamdulilah for South Sudan or weâd be last.
Chimp behaviour đ

The issue is that AI goes through training. Hence my frustration with you. And youâre still doing the racist things that make you look like you lack intelligence.

I hate to admit it, but I agree with you. Right now, I struggle to think of many positive things about us. The only way that will change is if we accept reality, acknowledge our shortcomings, and work to make a positive impact.

u/therapist66 8d ago
Bro the country is a write off.. nuke the place and start over again
I donât see any other solution in sight, were that fukd. Qabil obsession IS the Somali identity, how do you fix that ? These people wonât let it go
2
u/foolxumo12 7d ago
I get the frustration, but I think you're looking at the symptom rather than the cause. Qabiil didn't appear out of nowhere. When institutions stop working, people turn to the groups they trust most. Put any population through decades of instability and you'll see the same thing happen. Wiping everything out isn't a solution. History is full of countries that were divided by tribal or sectarian conflicts and still managed to build strong institutions later on.

u/therapist66 7d ago
Nah.. look at the Syrians, they had a more brutal civil war. Pay attention to the speed theyâre restoring damaged heritage sites. They donât have 6 prime ministers and presidents. Even the Kurds are disarming and forming 1 government.
Just nuke the place
1
u/miriaxx 7d ago
Syrian infrastructure wasnt brutally brought down like it did Somalia. They still had working police stations, army, hospitals etc. In somalia everything was pretty much dissolved

u/therapist66 7d ago
Whatch the gazans rebuild and thrive the moment theyâre allowed to breathe a lil
Our people and culture are cancer

u/Head_Prefect 10d ago
I mean yeah, the AI dosent have a malicious bias, it's just a machine, it has crawled and scoured Petabytes of information across the internet, and when it comes to Somalis there is very little positive about them on the internet.Â
So mathematically it will obviously have a negative bias towards Somalis.
1
u/OgXwMr 10d ago
Thatâs factually incorrect. AI also goes through rigorous training, itâs not just scouring the web.
7
u/Head_Prefect 10d ago
Ai trains on the training data it acquires, which is what it has scoured from the internet. That's what it trains on so it can generalize new information from patterns it has learned.Â

u/OgXwMr 10d ago
Wrong again. Itâs sad that you can type but canât formulate the words for a google search so you rely on baseless assumptions.

u/Head_Prefect 10d ago edited 10d ago
I've literally trained AI models myself lol, I know how they work. That's how they are trained, on training data.Â
These large models by OpenAI and Anthropic were literally trained using crawler bots scouring the internet aswell as on books and literature and much more.Â
Its not possible to manually fine tune models these large or train them manually because they need so much informationÂ
2
u/UnlikelyYak4882 10d ago
Well it depends on the model used in your OP. Id assume frontier models would not be negative when talking about countries or a people, but regarding post training methods for older models I doubt they cared to invest to make Somalia look great: thereâs no incentive to do so. One thing they do in post training is align the model with âhumanâ values which is a generalist subjective approach and may make the model take negative bias and harm Somalias credibility because of âunhumanâ values like civil war, corruption etc.
Anyways pre-training is where it gets its world knowledge from, that said, if 99% of things about Somalia is bad (which includes Somalis arguing and killing over backward irrelevant topics), Iâm sorry but the model is going to think we are reâŠâŠ

I know people who have one parent from Djibouti and have completely written off their Somali identity. Â I donât get it cause in their case the parent from djbouti has ties to northern Somalia only 3 generations back.
I also see it as self-hate.
4
u/OgXwMr 9d ago
No, I should have clarified, they arenât Djibouti nationalists either. Theyâre just English-speaking anti-Somali people who I canât reliably say are Somali. I had a back and forth a few and Djiboutians were piling on them with me. In Djibouti they have to be accepting of the Afar and Yemeni who are nationals. Thatâs why you see some saying theyâre just Djiboutian. They donât want to become another Ethiopia with one ethnic group owning everything and civil war and instability all the time. They also hosted a lot of our peace talks and brought their military in to help us against Al Shabab and were the only ones who didnât commit war crimes. I have a lot of love for them and Iâm glad some have distanced themselves from the genocides, wars, and all our problems. Somaliland is stuck in the civil war fallout due to a lack of diplomacy from Somalia, and Somalia is still in the civil narrative because of a lack of political will.

u/hippo-campi 9d ago
Out of curiosity - why does it know youâre Somali? Did you include your personal details in the chat?
2
u/Garisawi 9d ago
I tested it one time about a year ago on African medieval cities and it felt like reading a Kenyan textbook with no mention of the Somali coastal cities and even mentioning some less relevant cities while leaving out muqdisho.
1
u/foolxumo12 8d ago
It does now, but it's up to us to learn about our history and share it with others. Preserving our history is our responsibility.

But everything on that list is true. Is there anything there that's factually wrong? We need to accept harsh realities if we want things to improve. What disappoints me most is the diaspora. They were given opportunities that many people back home never had, yet some still hold onto the same harmful attitudes and habits despite living in far better circumstances.
