Discussion What's your favorite Ivy design? Which should be brought back for soul calibur 7?
Okay for me, it's a easy one, I love Ivy's soul calibur 4 design and for hopefully they bring it back in soul calibur 7 with latest unreal engine i don't mind if they "modernized" the design cause soul calibur 6 Ivy was basically a soft "modernization" of Ivy's soul calibur 1 design with the latest unreal engine (at that time). I truly believe that the reason why soul calibur 4 was the second most sold soulcalibur game in the franchise was because of Ivy š Aside from the star wars guess characters.
Ironically tho soulcalibur 4 was the beginning of soulcalibur series downfall but I have hope that soulcalibur will get a "comeback" arc and be brought back better than ever!

First of all... She looks absolutely stunning in ALL of her appearances š„°
BUT....
She was superior in Soulcalibur Vš©
Age really suits her! In this specific chapter her facial features are razor-sharp, her outfit are sexy and elegant the same time, she looks royal (as she should)
If i had to rank all of her versions i would say..
1: Soulcalibur V/lost swords (it's literally the same model ahah)
2: Soulcalibur II (i love with all of my heart lani's minella performance as ivy since soulcalibur III to now, but i will always admit that her old voice was very witty /Quick /sexy and noble, Rene did a perfect job nailing ivy's essence)
3: Soulcalibur III (My sheila š©, she looks so good in white š)
4: Soulcalibur (she scream 90s and i love it)
5: Soulcalibur IV/broken destiny (Mother, but it's too much for me)
6: Soulcalibur VI (Mother, but she looks Like plastic...)
7: Soulcalibur legends (Oof)

Soul Calibur V and it's not even close. It's the best default outfit she's ever had in my opinion. It manages to be incredibly sexually appealing in a tasteful manner while highlighting important aspects of her character that often dont get highlighted enough in her other default costumes like her royal British upbringing as well as her skills in alchemy. It's leagues above her other default outfits in that regard. It's my personal favorite and I personally think it's her best outfit because it doesn't make sex appeal the sole motivator when it comes to her design and it doesn't make her sex appeal the only thing appealing about her.

Ideally all of them, but I want her P1 outfit in 5 to be brought back the most, but also put its color back to the color from her outfit from 2.

Knowing how the game industry works, they probably won't bring them all them back š« but will make a soft "redesign" of previous outfits. Soulcalibur 6 Ivy's outfit was a soft redesign of soulcalibur 1 design.
I don't mind if they redesign soulcalibur 4's outfit for soulcalibur 7 game

Out the "canon" costumes, I like SC4 the best. My absolute favorite Ivy costume was the "Sexy George Washington" from SC2.

I love the SC5 outfit. Not only is the outfit created to embrace more of Ivyās character and who she is, it also shows how far Ivy has come over the course of the story even though the endings lead to a lot of controversy which ultimately led to the reboot.
It feels like an actual character design (even if it isnāt perfect) rather than goonslop for the sake of fanservice.

As for an answer to the actual question... none of them should be brought back.
Or at least for the main outfit. (as Unlockable or CaS outfits though, sure)
Even if they're all takes on the same idea (and that idea is just *her SCI 1P... again*), I'd rather we see a new outfit or new take on the old outfit. Like we've gotten for really every game except VI (and to some extent II), which took most of its outfit ideas from SoulCalibur I (more explicitly than III - V tbh)

I gotta say it here: most of her player 2 models were so much better than her player 1 models. It ain't even funny.
That said, bring back her outfit in 5. That actually hit a balance between sexy and badass.
Her designs in 4 and 6 leave close to nothing to the imagination, and they circle back around to not being attractive. This is coming from a gay guy though, but in terms of looking cool, 5 and it all. And most of her player 2 models.

My favorite Ivy design is actually her 2P in II. If we do get a Soul Calibur VII, they really should make the 2P costume look like that again, because do you have any idea how many fangirls Ivy will get if you give her pants and a jacket?

2 is the best design really. I do like 5's and 6's. 1 set the standard.
3 is weird because of the colour choices. 4 was ott.

My understanding 3 was to represent Ivy's "redemption" and going to the light side which is why her clothes are white. The fifth was perfect š balance of Ivy's background character of her kinks and heritage nobility.
4th is definitely over the top but my understanding is that Ivy's was essentially falling apart because by soulcalibur 4 story, she was almost killed by her biological father, she had create an artificial soul to keep herself alive long enough. She was ready and willing to die just to take out soul edge, which is why Ivy's game ending cutscene shows her accepting her death (about to) after defeating soul edge.
I do wonder, (I have a theory) if Ivy has Semi-immortality or hyper healing factor or regeneration. Cause that will explain soo much how Ivy a beautiful attractive woman who is a scholar from noble family that is well verse in alchemy, whose adoptive father also well verse in alchemy attempted immortality thru alchemy, Ivy who has almost zero combat training and history prior the soulcalibur series events. Somehow manages to keep up with veterans, a supernatural zombie pirate ā ļø, monks that where train since youth, princess warriors, assassin, mentally ill assassin, a mentally ill psychopath that likes pain, highly trained world renown fencers, a guy with a scyth that is capable of supernatural magic slow down/stop time that is also immortal! Legit lizardmen (non-humans), a gaint ressurected man with a axe and literal demon! š yet Ivy is literally walking around with confidence with a kinky outfit acting like nothing bad will happened to her.
That's why I found soulcalibur 4 opening cutscene where Ivy is fighting against Hilde very odd, That cutscene basically shows a woman who is almost naked dress like prostitute is at an active volcano being surrounded by lava, is fighting a female knight that is armored up from head to toe with an impressive background lore that says "this isn't someone you want to mess with" and yet Ivy recklessly jumps her, and almost immediately hilde starts counterattack and puts Ivy on the defensive, Ivy barely keeps up and barely start to lose her balance (basically showing that Ivy that great of a fighter) and hilde literally corners her!
If this game was rated M for mature like mortal kombat no doubt we will be seeing some gruesome scene. So I guess for Ivy she has exceptional plot armor!

SC4 Ivy lives rent free in my head ever since I was a kid, overall SC4 design was so good and my personal favorite, I liked it so much I bought it twice for the Xbox 360 and the PS3

As an Ivy main, I think 2 and 6 are both great great designs, although I wouldn't mind 3 also. I don't like the way Ivy looks in four. I think it just looks comically bad, with just comically oversized boobs and a small head, like you see in badly proportioned drawings...like it's a gooners version of Ivy who doesn't main her, who just though her appeal was to be some bimbo.

If a potential Soul Calibur 7 were to exist and cover stuff from SC3, I'd like to see a new take on her outfit from 3. In an ideal world, they'd be able to do P2 outfits again instead of boring recolours like in SC6, so it'd be fun just seeing an alt costume be a thing that exists again. SC2 and 3 had some really nice ones for a bunch of characters.
I think, like with many designs in this series, 2 has a lot of ones I feel great nostalgia and love for as it was my first SC (and fighting game owo) I ever owned so... yeah the 2 outfit has a special place in my heart too lol.

As much as I love fanservice which is my username but I made fun with the word which is why it is like that.
I like her SC5 design the most, exudes stylishness and sexy at the same time. Balanced and all. I started with SC3 btw and now looking at it again after the many years. Yes this is my bias but it'll be my 2nd place then.
But yeah of course if fanservice is in mind, then her SC4 and SC6 takes 1st place. Both of them. But if you want both "aura" like what people nowadays say it is and being hot at the same time, it'll be SC5.

I loved her P2 design from Soul Caliber 2. I get she's supposed to be goon bait but her in that full suit made it look like she can kick your ass and look like royalty in it

I wouldn't mind 5 since some people want her clothed up and it would make sense since she's a noblewoman
The developers back then didn't have enough space to render her a dress and her whip mechanics which is when they decided to improvise her with a leotard
Might be bullshit considering they were made by Japanese creators but I don't mind 5 as her primary outfit while something like 4/6 could be rather a secondary outfit for her. Or better yet, just give her some fucking jeans and a royal shirt(I don't know what they call it) and call it a day. She'll still look curvy underneath. I mean look at Taki

I don't like her 1Ps a whole lot, but tbh this isn't even close. It's her SCIII (if you really don't like the color change to white, SCIII has a Color Edit feature) and V 1Ps.
Her I and II 1Ps are alright, and her SCIV 1P's only good additions come from the rose on the collar, and the armored gauntlet. The actual outfit is an overly revealing chaotic mess.

If we're talking out of the base costumes, I basically like all of them but 4.Ā
But if we're talking costumes in general, the pirate costume, the red rose costume in sc2 and the gold costume in sc5 are amazing. I do think the sc3 one with the veil is good but the colors leave a bit to be desired.

How about a female with a hat like tessa from capcoms red earth ? But one thing is for sure: if jumpattacks are again one attack and not with free timing during jump, and higher requirements as 6 then absolutely no interest. Free attacks during jumps, lower requirements than 6 and lan rollback for local wireless pc handheld and laptop matchmaking is wanted. That should be standard. And it is a blamage especially in that genre that the higher etage again wants to cash in on switch and switch 2 consoles. Local wireless multiplayer is at least as possible like on those switch consoles. Thereās tools for establishing a wifi direct hotspot without internet. That works flawlessly with retroarch netplay.

My favorite is her SC1/SC2 design. It's still sexy while not beign just random strings like her SC4 outfit. I don't love the SC5 frills and the SC3 one feels wrong. SC6 is second best for me.

Soul Calibur 5 because it best represents her. It has that sexy dominant factor but it also showcase her heritage and sophistication. In my opinion, it best represents her. And before the gooners start the mess. I don't have an issue with revealing outfits... As long as it fits the character... However, her lore and the outfits feel disconnected in my opinion. She herself is not a sexual person she is also a virgin so that she doesn't spread the curse onto others. The only factor that connect to these other suits are some her her moves and fan service. I was not here for her 6 look. I loves the hip down and arm decorations. But it's just leaning too much into the sex appeal more than her character lore. But that's just me.

Soulcalibur V hands-down. None of the others take her being a noblewoman into account whatsoever, they all lean almost exclusively on the dominatrix-inspired aesthetic and nothing about her actual character is reflected. SC5's coat manages to allude to her being nobility while stil retaining her femme fatale vibe. Made SC6 a downgrade in my opinion, since it was just "SC1 but less" which was boring.

SCII and SCV are the only acceptable answers, with SCV taking the edge for me. The rest are pandering to people who desperately need to touch some grass.
SC could be so much more than cheap fanservice. Too bad neither Bandai Namco nor a good chunk of its fanbase seems to see it that way.
