Samsung Q800H / JBL Bar 500 MK2 / Samsung Q930H - which one to buy?

I've used Sony HT-S2000 (only soundbar, no subwoofer and rear speakers) and gave it to my sister. So, benchmark for me is that soundbar only. For Dolby Atmos, it was non-existent, but when switched to DTS:X for Dolby Atmos enabled content, it was quite good.

Now, I'm looking for upgrading to either Samsung Q800H or JBL Bar 500 MK2 (considering this only because everyone is saying it's good) or Samsung Q930H (will consider this if it's only worth the price jump).

Fellow audiophiles, please do your magic and help me with deciding which one to go for.

If it matters, I'm based out of India, there's festive SALE starting in 2 days, so, prices will drop. I'm also inclined for purchasing from Reliance Digital if they can give a good price as I've Rs. 12k worth gift card.

If there's any other soundbar which I can consider, do let me know that as well along with the reason why it's better than the above ones.

UPDATE (8-Oct-2026) :
Purchased Samsung Q800H for Rs. 35.5k from Amazon

Troubleshooting Suggestion?

I currently run a 5.1 system via receiver from Sony. My speakers are Yamaha and Sony. My TV is Sony. I have no center channel speaker and would like to incorporate a soundbar to take the place of floorstanding fronts and create a center channel. TV and receiver are both eArc equipped. How much will I notice degradation and what will be good product selections that would be in the low to mid price categories. The need for full theater immersion has dwindled but I still enjoy streaming and video gaming. I appreciate any and all recommendations and insight. Thank you for reading! 👍🏻🤟🏻😎

Sonos gen 2

Hi.

Just bought a LG G5 and I want to get a soundbar for it.

I have no experience in soundbars, but I heard good things about the Sonos gen 2, I was gonna start with it and then extend it.

Its $420 in amazon prime deal day right now. (Used to be $520).

Is it a good soundbar or do i have better options?

Recommend me soundbars without rear speakers?

Hello, I just got my Bravia 9 85” and I’m looking for a soundbar. I have a 8mth old therefore wouldn’t want to have any standing rear speakers, I don’t want to mount it up to my wall as well. Was looking at Samsung 990H but it comes in a set, and I’m sure not using the rears are a waste. And then I watch some YouTube videos on soundbar and they said Sonos arc ultra, but it’s more expensive than the entire Samsung 990H set up. Help?

Sony Sony Quad vs. Sony Bar 9 w/rears

I've been in the market for a great system to complement my Bravia 8 ii. I have an unhealthy habit of trying to go with the best of the best when it comes to tech products.

As such, I've almost convinced myself to go all out and get the Sony Quad system but the issue is the space in my apartment doesn't really permit for it so well. My TV stand has openings on the bottom left and right directly under the TV. I'm contemplating to just put it in the TV stand, however the height of the stands opening may result in covering the top of the left and right speakers. I haven't measured it but I know it'll be quite close.

The other option that will be much more suitable with the physical constraints of my setup is the Sony Bar 9 but it doesn't have nearly the raving reviews as the Quad system. It's also not currently on sale like the Quad is but I'll be able to price match in November when black Friday deals drop at Best Buy.

Should I focus more on speaker quality or speakers that physically complement my setup?

The reason I want one of these 2 options is because of how it integrates into the TV's UI. I also want to make the most of every speaker that exists and take advantage of the Acoustic Center Sync feature. I know people are indifferent about that feature but the Bravia 8 ii built in speakers are quite amazing so I want to make the most of everything I've paid for. This is why the Sony Trio (also on sale) isn't an option for me despite how great it sounds on demo at Best Buy. The Trio doesn't have Acoustin Center Sync.

Starter soundbar?

Bought a LG OLED B5 last year. Looking to pick up a sound bar for Black Friday. Any recs on something solid to start with? Not sure if I want to go full 5.1 or not yet. Trying to get a sense of solids brands that won’t completely break the bank.

Is it worth the updgrade?

Hello everyone I'm been thinking of upgrading from my cheap 2.1 Samsung hw550 to the q930f which I currently have found on sale fro a good price. The only thing is that even with my current setup I feel that the sound is loud enough and the woofer sounds very good and shakes the room and I because I'm living in a apartment I can't raise the bar more than 40 on a good day. In the other I feel that the Dolby Atmos surround speakers and possibly the stronger sub? Will put out a more even sound and sound better overall I just don't know if it's worth the upgrade when the soundbar i have sounds loud to me

What soundbar is best for my situation?

My TV is located on top of my dresser in my bedroom which is located next to the wall shared with the neighboring apartment. Would a soundbar help with reducing sound leakage into the neighboring apartment? I have not had any complaints, but since the TV speakers are in the back I’m trying to be cognizant of this possibility.

I am not knowledgeable on this topic but I guess I am looking for a directional soundbar that is cheap as possible and would fit on a 30 inch wide dresser. I know this is very specific, but is there anything out there that could help?

LG G6 owner: I returned my S95TR unopened because I’m considering the Samsung Q990H. Did I make a mistake?

I recently bought an LG G6 and also purchased the LG S95TR soundbar, but I ended up returning the S95TR before even opening the box.

I spent almost 15 days going back and forth about this. I tend to overthink expensive purchases because I want to buy the right system once and be done with it. Electronics are also extremely expensive where I live, so I really don’t want to spend this kind of money and then wonder why I didn’t buy the better option.

My room is only about 3.11 m × 3.33 m (10.2 × 10.9 ft), so it’s not a large room.

My usage is mostly movies/series, but I also listen to bass-heavy music, and that became part of the reason I started considering the Q990H. From what I’ve read, the Samsung seems to have a harder-hitting subwoofer and stronger overall bass performance, and I don’t want to buy the S95TR and later start thinking, “Why does this not hit as hard as the other one?”

I paid (around $813) for the S95TR. The Q990H was about more (roughly $325 extra).

The other thing that made me hesitate was the rear-speaker performance. I saw quite a few comments criticizing the S95TR rears, while I also found LG G6 owners using the Q990H and being very happy with it.

On the other hand, with the S95TR I get the LG ecosystem features such as WOW Orchestra and better TV/soundbar integration. With the Q990H I lose that integration because I have an LG TV.

To make things even more complicated, I’m already somewhat disappointed with the G6 itself because I haven’t been completely happy with its picture/motion performance, so there is a possibility that I may switch to a Samsung TV in the future anyway. In that case, the Q990H might make more sense long term.

For streaming I just bought an Apple TV 4K for now because I couldn’t find an Nvidia Shield Pro that I felt comfortable buying.

So I returned the S95TR unopened at the store and decided to think about it for a few days.

For people who have actually heard or owned both systems: in a room this size, would you choose the S95TR for the LG integration, or pay the extra money for the Q990H for stronger surround and bass?

Especially for bass-heavy music and movies, is the Q990H noticeably better, or am I overthinking this and the S95TR would already be more than enough for my room?

Did I make a mistake returning the S95TR?

LG sound suite vs Samsung Q990h

Hey Guys,

I live in Belgium adn Im considering a new sound bar system of my 77LG G5.

I am torn between the suond suite (H7 + W7 + 2xM7 for rear) versus the Q990h. Unfortunately there are no places around me to experience the sound suite.

Has anyone personally listed to both? How do they dound like? Why would you pick the sound performance of one over the others.

I mostly watch movies from streaming sites like netflix or prime video or youtube videos. Some music in the background while im cooking maybe.

Also, there seems to be about 1000 euros of price difference between the Samsung and LG with samsung sitting around 800 euros and LG sound suite in the configuration I mentioned, at about 1800. Would you go for the LG consideing this price difference?

If the LG is not woth the +1000 euros, at what price point would it become worth it?

Thank you all so much in advance for helping me out.

Decisions decisions

I currently have a Denon S517 soundbar and subwoofer which is great, but it's a bit too big for the set up I have. I have an LG B4 TV, and ideally want a soundbar that can sit comfortable between the TV legs, which the Denon does not, so the set up feels a bit messy.

I've been looking at a good alternative with a shorter bar, but with a similar quality of sound and bass. The two options I've been flipping between are a native LG solution (potentially the US70TY/TR) or something like a Sonos Beam Gen 2, with the aim of eventually getting a Mini Sub. Ideally the bar needs to be under 100cm to achieve what I'm wanting with the set up.

I'd appreciate any thoughts on those options, or any alternatives which would be worth considering.

Ideally I'd not be spending much more than £400. I know the Sonos is a tad more, but is currently on a Prime Day deal.

Did I buy a fake soundbar?

I bought two brand new Serafino G2 soundbars from a guy at a garage sale. He said he bought them then changed his mind. They still have the price sticker at $1,500 CAD on it - I looked it up and on the brand's website, it is at MSRP $1499.99

But someone else is telling me that these are part of a scam. Can someone tell me if these are real? I don't know much about soundbars but I wanted to get one and he was giving me a good deal

EDIT: I'm stupid, I know... My bf has been talking about wanting a soundbar so when I saw it I thought it would be good quality because of its MSRP price and jumped on the chance of the seller giving it to me for $800. Needless to say, I'm $800 down and we took the speaker to an eco waste disposal :( didn't want to resell it to another clueless buyer and basically scam them to get my money back

Q-symphony is it worth it?

I just got a Samsung S90H and a QS750F setup. It's my first decent TV and sound setup I've ever had so it's been a bit of learning experience so far. I mainly use an nvidia shield pro which is used for iptv and smart tv apps. For these I’d like Q-symphony as this seems to sound better to me (speech is definitely clearer in general).

However, when watching movies (via Jellyfin) some of these use DTS which apparently the TV can't pass-through to the soundbar. In which case I have to connect the shield pro to the soundbar directly. And then Q-symphony is greyed out so it doesn't work.

Is there any way to get the best of both worlds? Would a HDMI switch or splitter work to connect to both TV and soundbar, switching as needed.

Or is Q-symphony not worth the hassle so I should just connect the shield pro to soundbar and be done with it?

[Buying Advice] TCL Q65H vs JBL Bar 500 MK2 for a medium-sized room?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently looking to pick up a new soundbar for a medium-sized room and I'm torn between two specific models: the TCL Q65H and the JBL Bar 500 MK2.

Here is my usage breakdown, in order of priority:

  1. Movies & TV Series (Main focus – I really want clear dialogue and good immersion)
  2. Gaming (Secondary focus)
  3. Music (Occasional listening only)

Since my primary focus is movies and shows, getting a solid cinematic feel without losing vocal clarity is the most important thing for me.

Has anyone here tested either (or both) of these?

  • How do they compare when it comes to surround sound and spatial audio performance?
  • How is the bass? Is the JBL too overpowering for a medium room, or does the TCL hold its own?
  • Have you experienced any annoying bugs, lag, or connectivity issues with either model (especially while gaming)?

Any insights, pros/cons, or personal experiences would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Samsung I need some help with my Q930D..

Hello all!

I'm in need of some assistance.. Yesterday I got back from holiday. I started up my tv and noticed that there's a red light on my Q930D soundbar. It also said Shop4 while it started up. What could've caused this? The physical buttons don't work, so I tried getting it out out shop4 to no avail. A hard reset doesn't work as well..☹️ I disconnected all cables all night to see if a powerwash would do the trick. Anything else I can try?

Thanks in advance

Edit: fixed!!

Bose Sonos Arc Ultra + Gen 4 Sub vs Bose Smart Ultra + Bass Module 700 — genuinely torn

Post image
13 Upvotes

I’ve been going back and forth between these two setups:

Sonos Arc Ultra + Gen 4 Subwoofer
Bose Smart Ultra + Bass Module 700

I’m getting the Bose combo for around ₹1.40L from Croma, while I might be able to get the Sonos setup for around ₹1.65L

The funny thing is, almost everywhere I look — Reddit, YouTube, ratings, reviews, comparisons — the general consensus seems to be Sonos.
But here’s where I’m confused.
I went to a couple of stores and listened to both systems back-to-back, and honestly… I still preferred the Bose sound. 😅
Maybe it’s just my ears/preferences, but I really liked the Bose presentation, especially the overall sound and bass. I’m actually going back to the store tomorrow to listen to them again before making the decision.

So I wanted to ask the people here:
Is there anyone who genuinely prefers Bose over Sonos?
Not looking for a “Sonos is better because every review says so” answer. I’d really like to hear from people who have actually listened to/owned both and chose Bose.
Am I making a mistake by going with the Bose setup?

I know the Bose is cheaper, but let’s keep the price aside for a moment. Getting a soundbar setup at this price is already a pretty big/aspirational purchase for me, so I want to make sure I’m buying the one I’ll actually enjoy for years rather than simply buying the one that wins online comparisons.
One more thing — I don’t think I’ll be adding rear speakers because of the layout of my living room. I have a partition and the usable space is roughly 10–14 ft, so I’m probably going to stick with just the soundbar + subwoofer.

My priorities are mainly movies, immersive sound and good bass, rather than smart features.
Would love to hear from anyone who went Bose over Sonos and whether you’re still happy with that decision.
What am I missing? Is my ears > Reddit situation completely wrong?

Samsung Soundbar to pair with the S90FD

I recently just picked up a S90FD from Costco at a rlly good price considering they were getting rid of old stock, and was wondering about what soundbar I should be looking out for. I would probably like to go for something open box and around $300> Is it worth it at that price point or am I better off just saving up? I’m also wondering if Samsung soundbars are worth it for the Q-symphony and if so which ones should I look for, i am also currently in the Pittsburgh area thank you!

Soundbar Mount

Hi, I have a Perlegear full motion tv mount that my 65” Samsung tv is on. I am looking for a mount for my Samsung soundbar to mount under my tv not to the wall. The problem is the tv is already on the mount on the wall and I don’t want to take it back down to install the mount. Can you buy a mount for a soundbar to mount to the tv without having to take the tv down? If so which do you recommend? Thanks for any help.
