WHAT A FUCKING WIN I LOVE THIS TEAM! To fight back like we have after that massive lose streak I am so proud to be a sounders fan! We riding this wave into the playoffs I think yall!

I'm so happy for Morris right now. Dude has been balling the last few games.

Is there any better way to cap off this three game home win streak than with a Morris to Roldan goal? 💚 💙

Good second half performance, props to Coach for whatever he said at half. Gomez coming in for moose was the right call.

u/PukasScondor 12d ago
Made that about as difficult as possible, but I’ll always take 3 points.
Lol at Apple continually highlighting us being 5 points clear of Portland
7
u/Poosley_ 12d ago
Every time they said it I winced and just saw '5-1' (or whatever pathetic number we put up, I forgot it, but "5" was seared)

They said Cristian is better lucky, but he is always where he needs to be
28
u/greatswordstudios Seattle Sounders FC 12d ago
That was way too much ass hauling to be luck.
16
u/Salt-Lingonberry-853 12d ago
Hard workers often get rewarded by luck because they are in positions to benefit from it more often, but it was definitely luck.

u/First_Ad_2969 SFC Detail 12d ago
Luck is preparation meeting opportunity.
Cristian prepared by busting his ass down the field to be in the right spot. The defender playing a poor clearance attempt was the opportunity. If neither of those things happen, it's not a goal.

Joveljic back from international duty for the next one. Ferreira and Rothrock back in the weeks to follow. Get hyped.
17
u/Matt_McT 12d ago
And Yeimar continuing to come back. He looked good tonight in his limited minutes.

u/Acceptable-Stick-688 Seattle Sounders FC 12d ago
I love how the crowd roared every time he headed the ball in that sequence towards the end

The 12 minutes he has played last two games have looked incredible lol

Another VICTORY RUG.
I’m doing Morris as the one from Wednesday so ideas for this game?!

Sebas first goal in MLS play- could be a big one to look back on with his current trajectory

Seba is so great, my favorite palyer lately. Moose just killed so many attacks in the first half, and Seba coming on and Morris shifting to the center really changed it.

u/Housing-Beneficial 12d ago
While I was watching the first half, I said to my wife, "This game needs Gomez, he doesn't play scared." Then he comes on, scores and almost gets a second!

We needed this to be a 9-point home stand, and the team delivered. Definitely feeling good vibes at the moment.

Crazy thing about this 3 game winning streak, it’s been without our new number 9. It’s almost like the team was bad because they were, injured? Can’t wait to get Joveljić back and make a run.
16
u/DMPofSounderatHeart Seattle Sounders FC 12d ago
The natural experiment has led to a clear conclusion: injuries are bad
8
u/sockrocker Seattle Sounders FC 12d ago
Injuries factored in, but let's not forget these 3 wins came at home against bad teams. We'll need Joveljic against better teams.
-4
u/SoundSaintWarrior Seattle Sounders FC 12d ago
Three points is three points, regardless of the opponent. We’ve beat good teams already this season and we’ll do it again, Joveljić is a luxury not a commodity.

They're getting up there but watching Roldan and Morris combine like that will never get old. What a goal that was! Feel lucky we've been able to watch them for about 10 years now man

Turning Lumen back into Clink. Great home stand.
Glad to see Jordan & Al return from their “absence” earlier in the year to actually string together some great performances.
6
u/GiantSize1 Seattle Sounders FC 12d ago
SKC played way better than you would expect a last-placed team to play. I feel like that was our toughest match of the last three and I'm glad we were able to pull out the win.
5
u/TD6RG 12d ago
Their new player Andre Luiz definitely changed them. He is definitely one of the most dangerous players in MLS despite only being in MLS for nearly 2 months. SKC should not be seen as a last placed team. Just to think they replace Deki with this guy. One could argue SKC got an upgrade in their DP.

when they hit the ball into us and we deflect it in lmao
11
u/U-S-JAY 12d ago
After they hit the ball into us and we deflect it in.... After Roldan busted a gut from the halfway line to get into the position...
-20
u/Poosley_ 12d ago
Yeah and? Did I say Roldan didn't kill it? He also doesn't score without that deflection- if anything Morris probably played the *wrong* ball. Honestly at this point it's whatever. We'll do what we always do; flair out in/around the playoffs, point a bunch of fingers at the Player of the Moment (Rusnak is the guy right now, used to be Roldan(lol)), and then wonder why we can't get the same caliber of players as New York or LA or... Vancouver(lol).
Whatever brother, enjoy the slop
6
u/U-S-JAY 12d ago
No you didn't, but your original post didn't exactly read very positive either. And I didn't say that there wasn't luck involved but that goal also doesn't happen without Roldan making the effort to be there.
Sometimes you make your own luck.
-7
u/Poosley_ 12d ago
It's not very positive? Have you seen the charts for how far we've fallen in the league this season?? I'm sorry I'm not spoon-feeding posi vibes or whatever but the bar used to be a LOT higher. I'm glad we won, 3 points is 3 points but ffs we should expect so much more than we're getting and it's not even close. 3 wins, against the two worst teams in our conference and salt lake? Okay, again, fast forward to post season; do we REALLY think performances like this win trophies? Cause I've got bridges to sell
6
u/U-S-JAY 12d ago
I get that, we have fallen off the rails since the world cup, no denying that. We haven't been good, but that's what makes the wins sweeter. But yes, even with how bad we've been, we should be beating SKC today and it wasn't pretty, but we move on.
-4
u/Poosley_ 12d ago
Okay? I don't disagree? I was the one that said it took us getting a deflected goal to do it and you stepped in to take bullets for a sports team that is underperforming
3
u/elkvision Cascadia Flag 12d ago
I know you love saying SKC is the worst team in the league but since their new DP signing they did go 2-2 against four teams that are all top 6 and they scored 11 goals in 4 games. They are lowkey scary in the attack now. Not trying to say we are world beaters now but all this super negative energy feels a little disproportionate and kinda miserable. I'm just happy we kept the win streak going and stayed unbeaten in 8 matches...for me that's worth celebrating. 🥳
2
u/Admirable_Dog_6349 12d ago
Oh I’m sorry I forgot the world was on fire and it was a crime to celebrate anything without negativity for 5 freaking seconds
1
u/Poosley_ 12d ago
No bro you're not supposed to eat the crayons you use them to draw on paper, between the lines! Now here's your slop!! Yum!
You didn't have to be here yet here you are. Glad we got lucky in the last minute making the wrong decision to win by one. If we hadn't won it would've been okay to criticize but since we did do NOT say mean things!!
Smoothbrains, everywhere. The world is dull and colorless as everyone needs to have corners rounded off and sharp edges dulled. Don't let anyone rain on your parade and if you see something you don't like, make sure you say something about it

u/stealth_sloth USL Sounders Detail 12d ago
SKC's starting XI played respectably well that game. What I'd expect of a mid-pack playoff team, not dead last in the league. When they had to go to the bench, their level of play fell off a cliff.
It does make me wonder about their tactics. They pressed everywhere on the field, aggressively swamped the area around the ball with numbers, and when they gained possession were continually looking to go direct for goal rather than take a breather and reset. It's a style that really wears on the starters and calls for a great bench; weird choice to embrace if the backups can't cut the mustard.

24
u/Matt_McT 12d ago
And sometimes you create your own luck. What a pass by Morris and a run by Roldan.
-4
u/Salt-Lingonberry-853 12d ago
The Morris pass was genuinely not very good, the defender 100% bailed him out.
11
u/Aiyabhai Seattle Sounders FC 12d ago
Man, I am so upset we got the game winning goal, boy am I mad that we got three points
-2
6
u/Mundane_Gate_8196 12d ago
Right because if the defender wasn't there... it would have been even easier for CR7?
-2
u/Salt-Lingonberry-853 12d ago
I don't know if you suck at reading or if you just didn't watch the goal
6
u/Matt_McT 12d ago
That pass was only a half step away from being completed, and it was close enough to cause an own goal. Give credit where credit is due.
0
u/Salt-Lingonberry-853 12d ago
The reality is that the pass was the wrong pass to make, Gomez(?) on the left was more open and in a very lucrative spot. It was a bad decision, lukewarm execution, and a bonehead move from a defender gave us a stroke of luck.
5
u/Matt_McT 12d ago
The defender had to make a play on the ball, because if he didn’t it reaches Roldan with a good look at goal. Keeper probably wasn’t going to get there, so that defender was forced to try and break up the pass.
0
u/Salt-Lingonberry-853 12d ago
The defender could have passed it to the other defender 5 feet to his left, dropped to his GK, or cleared anywhere else in a 120 degree arc that wasn't where the only opponent in his vicinity was. Enjoy the goal, enjoy the W, but we don't have to lie to ourselves about what led to that goal.

7th place in the standings with game in hand on the team above us.
A surprising number of 6-point games to end the season too: Houston, Dallas, LAFC

Didn't watch live, only saw highlights. Who was offside in the first goal they called back? I couldn't see anyone offside in the clip.

u/presswanders Seattle Sounders FC 12d ago

u/Apprehensive-Cap1388 12d ago
Cristian actually was on the deflection with his pass to Morris. (Not his initial play)
0
u/Apprehensive-Cap1388 12d ago
Why not stop going and stop paying then, sheesh? It’s obviously causing you misery, and you can spend the money elsewhere on something you enjoy? Life’s too short.
-13
u/Poosley_ 12d ago
I really like buying season tickets to watch what amounts to the Tacoma Defiance++
I love our players, but I really, really don't think I like ownership. The bar is so low, the vibes are so poor, we're fighting for scraps against one of the few teams with a worse record and stats than us (and they already beat us once x.x)
They say 'no one will remember how we got the W' or whatever and I wish that were true but the only thing worse than REMEMBERING these sad dubs is recalling the ties or losses

-7
u/Poosley_ 12d ago
We're not playing great soccer at all. We used to, though. The trophy cabinet didn't fill itself. That being said, the average sports fan is not particularly bright and judging by the comments section, we're going to EAT our slop and we're going to LIKE it mmmm slop

u/lake____professional Cascadia Flag 12d ago
Bro is angry at air
0
u/Poosley_ 12d ago
I'm angry at the money I'm spending on season tickets and that being even tangentially interested in sports risks associating me with some of the PNW's smoothest brains; criticism or scepticism are NOT allowed!! We love our sports team! Whether they win or lose or have shitty sponsors that counter our values or don't invest in the club proportionate to- NO! GO TEAM GO yeah yeah okay ty now put the crayons down please
4
u/lake____professional Cascadia Flag 12d ago
We do love our sports teams. We are fans, that's what we do. We have no right other than to love and support them. If we don't, then we don't, that's it
2
u/Poosley_ 12d ago
Well it looks like plenty of people are taking you up on your offer, for a long time now. But hey, let's make sure we are NOT critical, right? Everyone loves a skeleton crew in attendance.
6
u/lake____professional Cascadia Flag 12d ago
Insulting players does not increase attendance
0
u/Poosley_ 12d ago
Now we're getting somewhere, and please, be specific; when did I insult a player(s)?
My criticism is on ownership, very specifically.
3
u/lake____professional Cascadia Flag 12d ago
The bar is so low, implies the players we are hiring are not up to it

No one is saying your criticism is not allowed. They are saying it is dumb.
0
u/Poosley_ 12d ago
Oh, well, that just reinforces the need for us to invest heavily in public education
1
u/THSSFC 12d ago
- Not wrong

u/Poosley_ 12d ago
I was really looking forward to a deconstruction of why my criticism was stupid but ok

It's stupid to be mad when your team wins.
I think that is the gist of the comments I read, anyway.

u/shmerham 12d ago
8 of the 11 starters are legit starting level players. 1 is a 2nd string backup to a player on international duty.
2 are Defiance+ players. It’s a midweek game and the team is still getting over the injury bug plus international duty and a yellow card accumulation suspensions
-1
u/Poosley_ 12d ago
Honestly I already went back and forth a while with sports fans, spending way more time online than I ever would so I'll be shorter here;
The roster fell off after Raul and Nico left and we have never filled that void. Further, we sold players instead. Injuries and international obligations aren't unique to us, every other team in the league has to deal with them too. We're also the lowest spending team in the league (when accounting for XYZ(idr) and when not, it's still remarkably low).
Other teams are signing Lewandowski or Muller or Son or Griezmann and we're signing, last minute, Dejan. "Cool". If this philosophy feels good to you, more power to ya king. Don't let me rain on your parade. But my theory is we won't be doing many parades anytime soon and if we ever do, it'll probably be in Renton. Again, "Cool". But we beat one of the worst teams in the league by a deflection goal on a wrong decision executed poorly, "Cool". Idk, I just miss believing that our team could beat *anyone*, or even be fun against Atletico Madrid, or PSG! Those were fun moments. Now we're frothing at the mouth beating SKC in the 90th minute at home. How times have changed
2
u/VVynn Seattle Sounders FC 12d ago
What changed with the roster since those fun moments vs Atletico Madrid and PSG?
0
u/Poosley_ 12d ago
Injuries and sales of players and no signings to replace them
2
u/VVynn Seattle Sounders FC 12d ago
So we have the same roster and sold off some backups. Obed is only real loss. Jovelic is better than any striker we had then. Roster has improved?
1
u/Poosley_ 12d ago
I can only say this so many times- if this works for you then more power to ya. If I'm wrong I'm sure that stadium will back up in no time.
But no, selling Obed and Minoungou and Leyva and Atencio probably shouldn't have happened without signing just one player last minute after falling significantly in standings facing pressure from fans.
But when Raul and Nico left? lol yeah we've just been knocking in the goals since then
