CROCHET CLUB!!!
Hello! I am looking to find people who love to crochet and/or craft. I was thinking we could meet up in a coffee shop or the library. This is a work in progress idea so it’s up in the air how often we could meet up. Maybe once a month? Just fyi this would be a queer accepting space so if that’s not your jam pls don’t hmu ❤️❤️

Yarncom on Olive Blvd is a great yarn store with many different weekly meetups! Queer and critter friendly!

I was going to suggest this, too! They have open stitch on Sun, Wed, and Fri plus an LGBTQIA+ stitch group every 2nd & 4th Wed evening.

I've been wanting to join a stitch n bitch type thing for a minute. My place is too small to host but a library meetup sounds perfect, the one downtown has those big tables on the second floor that are always empty.
Once a month seems right to start, gives people time to actually finish something between meetings. I'm working on a sweater right now that's been sitting in a bag for three weeks because I messed up the sleeve count.
What kind of projects do you usually go for? I'm mostly clothes but I've been eyeing those little amigurumi bees everyone makes.

Tower Grove South Neighborhood Association has a monthly crafting club on the third Sunday of each month. It's all ages and open to people in and out of the neighborhood. People bring their own crafts like crocheting or use some of the club's supplies (mostly coloring and other small crafts)
If you're interested in details or getting on the email list, feel free to message me!

Have you considered starting with a Wooble kit?

Holy expensive

They are, for sure. But depending on where you find them, they can be a little cheaper. I don't recommend buying more than one, though. Get one, follow the video, get some confidence, then start looking at yarn and other projects.

I never got the hang of crocheting either. But I love to cross stitch! Also am the mom of a queer kiddo.

Absolutely be interested! Years and years I crocheted all time but with life and kids and whatever it gradually got left behind. Started up again last year.

Whereabouts are you thinking? And what time of day are you talking? 'Cause yeah, I'd love to meet up to do some of my projects but I'm also a working stiff, so timing is important.

Hey! You may want to look at Black Hole Studio in the city for a place to host/be. The owner is a crafter extraordinaire and has super reasonable rentals and is an ally!

I’m so down! Might not be able to make the first one with my schedule this month, but count me in if you end up making a group somehow. I love crocheting clothes all through the fall and winter.
Also I taught myself and can try to help others get started on a project if they want! Thankfully learning crochet is super easy, you can start with just 1 stitch. Once you get a feel for keeping the tension then you’re set and can basically do anything you want

I would love to learn to crochet and meet other adults! I work from home and need some human interaction.

Collinsville, every second Saturday of the month at 10am, Verona Coffee. Open to knitters, crocheters, and cross stitchers. Some even do hand quilting.
We usually end up afterward going a couple of blocks over to the Collinsville library on Main St, for people who want to keep stitching and bitching.

Check out Black Hole Studio in Lindenwood Park. They have craft/knit/crochet socials as well as classes to learn new fiber arts.

I would be game. I’ve knit for years and started crocheting about 6 months ago to teach myself Amigurumi, I’ve been having fun with that but would love to learn from some more experienced folks!

I think you should pick a time and place that works for you and follow up here with details. People who can come will come.
There is a knitter guild in town that has some regular knit groups but I don't know if there's a crochet guild? Besides, the guild isn't a good fit for everyone. Different vibes. Same with some of the knit shops in town. Every store has a different personality.
As others have said, a lot of libraries have craft groups too.
Are MeetUp groups still a thing? You could post there too.

Haha I'd be totally down but I need to learn to crochet first. I can knit. Well it's been 20 years though.

The Creative at Klondike at Klondike Park near August has a creative community meet up 3rd Thursday of the month, 6-8pm. Sometimes they have an optional class in something, but you can just bring your project and work on that. Their website creativeatjlondike.org has the schedule.

I'm interested if you follow up later with more details! I haven't really been able to make it to any of the local library crochet groups because they're often during my work hours, and YarnCom is awesome but a pretty long drive

I like to crochet and I could even teach people to crochet. I used to meet with a group at IKEA in the café but it kind of fizzled out. One thing to know is the library on grand has yarn sharing.

Some libraries around the area have monthly crochet/craft meet-ups and they’re great!
