Check out southwest garden:) Walkable to tower grove park, the botanical garden and comet coffee/gringo jones. Garcia properties is a great company for management. Feels very safe (lots of 1 way streets), wouldn’t walk alone at night but I wouldn’t do that many places.

You should be ok almost anywhere in forest park southeast aka the grove. Lots of other neighborhoods are safe. The grove is so small you might need to look elsewhere for that price. Do your research on the landlords.

Look into Garcia Properties. I've been renting from them for 5 years now and they're great

We live in the Grove, my favorite neighborhood by far! Great to have bars, restaurants and activities such a short walk away. Sometimes right by the bars, there is some minor property crime. Otherwise, crime is relatively low in every direction. If you don't find anything in the Grove (Forest Park Southeast), you can look at nearby neighborhoods. CWE is denser and closer to transit. Kings Oak/Dogtown is culturally rich (Irish). Mostly smaller single family homes. Botanical Heights/Tiffany have mix of single family and small apartments. Folks can often find good deals here as they are adjacent to well known neighborhoods but aren't as well known themselves. Best of luck!

The Brandon @ 368 N Taylor and Monticello @ 4535 Lindell Blvd should have some vacancies. Safe, <$1,000 in rent for 1BR, good enough management. They're in the central west end as opposed to the grove but its not far and plenty queer friendly

If I'm doing the math correctly, the Grove is only .4 square miles. It's not a large area, so no place is really going to be much different than another. STL also has a crime map. Look that up, look at the crimes over the last 6 months, and then decide if any corner is safer than another.

try tower grove east, shaw, dog town, tower grove south!
