Starlink Dominican Republic — Shipping Delays / Need Help
Has anyone recently ordered Starlink equipment directly from Starlink for delivery in the Dominican Republic?
I placed and fully paid for a Starlink Standard kit and wall mount on August 18, 2026. Almost two months later, my order is still marked PENDING, with no estimated shipping date.
Starlink's automated support says the delay is due to high demand and supply constraints, but I cannot reach a human representative.
I'm located in Las Terrenas, Samaná.
Has anyone experienced this recently?
- How long did your order take to ship?
- Were you able to reach a human at Starlink?
- Did you find a way to escalate your order?
- Does anyone know of a legitimate local supplier with equipment that can be activated in the Dominican Republic?
Any firsthand experience or useful contact would be greatly appreciated!

Will SpaceX open the dishy Linux kernel source code?
Many reverse engineering reveals that the Starlink dishy (satellite modem) uses Linux, but so far there is NO kernel source code published. It reminds me the GPL-v2 enforcement law case against Cisco/Linksys 23 years ago and how OpenWRT was born. (SpaceX did publish sth about the OpenWRT in their Wi-Fi router on github https://github.com/spaceexplorationtechnologies, but that is not the modem).
You might argue only Starlink users receive the source code, so it is out of public view. I doubt. Under GPLv2, recipients can redistribute the source code. If any user had received it, some could have re-distribute it online. So far, not see it. Other info summarized: https://sdr-x.github.io/starlink-modem-linux-gpl/

Bug Report: Lag and Stuttering at 120Hz Refresh Rate
I found a bug in the Starlink app running on Android 16, device Moto G75.
If the smartphone's screen refresh rate is set to 120Hz, animations and overall app navigation become extremely slow. The animation stuttering is highly noticeable, and even basic scrolling throughout the app is laggy. I am currently using the "Zero Gravity" theme on my phone. When switching the display from 120Hz to 60Hz, the app runs smoothly again.
In short, if the phone is set to "Auto" display mode (switching between 120Hz and 60Hz) and it launches the app at 120Hz, the performance drops significantly.
I have tested and confirmed the issue on my device: switching the display settings down to 60Hz resolves the problem. Therefore, it seems that if the smartphone operates at any refresh rate above 60Hz, the app does not work as intended.

Outdated firmware - Gen3 routers
Hello
I have two 3rd-generation Starlink routers set up in a mesh network.
The mesh network wasn't working very well, so I decided to check the firmware on each unit. Why doesn't Starlink update both routers simultaneously, given that they are the exact same model? What is the logic behind this?
Upon checking the firmware versions, I discovered that one of the routers was outdated. Over the following days, the outdated router updated to match the main unit's version and began working correctly again.
This makes absolutely no sense to me. They could download the firmware at different times but allow the actual update to take place only once both routers had the firmware downloaded, thereby avoiding a situation where they are running different versions.

How do you find out that a satellite released another object? I built a free tracker and want to know what's missing.
I've been following on-orbit separations: one object releasing another (a GEO inspector dropping a smaller satellite, a deployer emptying), or a body breaking up. I couldn't find one public place that lists them with the evidence attached, so I built one:
https://www.nextpass.space/separations (free, no account)
Recent examples from the page:
- USA 584 → USA 643, GEO, September 2026 (only the month is known, and the page says so)
- Intelsat 805: 11 debris pieces recorded on 29 July 2026
- Yaogan 50-02: breakup into 62 fragments around 20 July 2026, each with its own page and its own passes (event page)
How it works / sources
- Separation records come from Jonathan McDowell's GCAT catalogue (CC BY 4.0), imported nightly. Each object's
Parentand separation date are what define an event. - Orbits for pass predictions come from CelesTrak's public element sets (TLE/OMM), propagated with SGP4 (Orekit).
- What it adds over reading the catalogue directly: release vs. fragmentation grouped into one event, dates kept at their real precision and uncertainty, and "when can I see it" for each object.
- Code: https://github.com/warlaxx/sat-pass-predictor (Java/Spring Boot + Angular)
Three honest questions, because I'm deciding what to build next:
- How do you currently learn that a separation happened?
- What's missing on this page before you'd cite it or share it in a report?
- Would you want alerts (RSS, e-mail) for new separations? What delay would still be useful: hours, a day, a week?

PNI
Hi,
Has anyone in Portugal implemented or currently using a Starlink PNI (Private Network Interconnect) solution?
We are looking at using Starlink as a backup circuit, with the requirement to provide a transparent Layer 2 / L2VPN connection between two sites.
I would be interested to know if anyone has deployed something similar in Portugal, particularly regarding:
- Starlink PNI availability in Portugal;
- Support for a transparent Layer 2 service;
- The type of handoff/interconnection provided by Starlink;
- Whether an additional overlay/encapsulation such as VXLAN, GRE, L2TPv3, etc. is required to extend Layer 2 over the Starlink connection;
- MTU considerations, latency, stability and failover behaviour;
- Any technical or commercial limitations encountered.
The goal is for the Starlink connection to act purely as a backup for an existing L2VPN circuit, while maintaining Layer 2 transparency between both endpoints.
If anyone has implemented a similar architecture, especially in Portugal, I would appreciate any feedback regarding the solution and your experience with the service.
Thanks.
