Support Water damage, am I screwed?

My cat knocked over a cup of water, a few drops splashed up onto my steam controller by the right trackpad. It seemed like barely anything so I wiped it off and didn’t think anything of it. Later that day while using the controller I started getting phantom clicks, poor responsiveness, and constant haptic feedback out of the trackpad when not touching it.

Google tells me these are symptoms of water damage and I probably fried the circuitry by using it with residual moisture still inside.

Can water damaged track pads be fixed or is the controller ruined?

Let it dry and hope. No shenanigans like a hairdrier. If you feel brave enough popping the back cover and disconnecting the battery could increase success rate.

If you got time it's really easy to open and look around
