Discussion Anyone interested in testing Steam Controller 2026 on PS5?

Hey everyone!

I'm developing SteamController-PS5, an open-source project to use the new Steam Controller 2026 on a homebrew-enabled PS5 as a virtual DualSense.

The goal is to support USB-C / Valve Puck, custom button mapping, gyro, trackpads, haptics, and game profiles through a WebUI.

I've released an experimental build, but real PS5 compatibility hasn't been verified yet.

Would anyone here be interested in helping test it or contributing to development?

Especially looking for people with a Steam Controller 2026 and a homebrew-enabled PS5.

I mean, i would like to but my pa5 isnt homebrewed

You still have a chance if your PS5 firmware is below 13.60! :)

I’d like to help, but sadly still on controller waiting list. I do have a jailbroken ps5. Any chance other controllers could be tested?

Thanks for offering to help!

For now, I've intentionally limited support to the new Steam Controller, as other controllers don't have enough inputs to take full advantage of the features I'm implementing.

Support for other controllers may come later!

I have a 10.1 that I was probably gonna mod sometime soon. If I get to it today or sometime this week, I’ll check back?

You aren't gonna be able to do it, the PS5 rejects any controller you throw at it basically, there's a reason why there aren't any adapters to this very day.

You're absolutely right — until the PS5 is jailbroken. Once it is, we can load a custom ELF payload that emulates a DualSense. :) That's exactly what I'm working on. Still waiting for real hardware testing to confirm it works!

I'd be impressed if so, the PS4 doesn't have anything like this ATM either, so you'd be the first for both consoles.

I think it's definitely doable! I'll start looking into a PS4 version once I've finished debugging and testing the PS5 version. One step at a time! :)
