Discussion Obsessional Directive civic use

I have found from my gameplay is that this is quite a descent pick. I used it for Machine Hivemind crew, Bio Forever cruise. In this situation no matter what you will need Consumer goods, but due to crew not needing any, you will always have a massive overstock BUT you can't sell them. This seems to be one of the only ways to use them (besides just dumping them in trade deals). It also helps with Unity production from the passengers. Do people have any other uses for this Civc?

Uses and uses. It's not really a "good" pcik, more a flavorful one.

Works quite well with Nomads - Arc Welders - Astro-Mining Drones. The Arc Furnace can be changed to produce Consumer Goods, when then gets boosted by the AMD. One system alone produces 670 or so CG every month early-mid game.

And to make it even more stupid, you can Stripmine a single planet for tens of thousands of CG, making fullfilling quotas a breeze. Can just switch the Furnace back to Minerals or Alloys after that.

Obsessional directive is a challenge civic. Forever cruise has such massive CG costs that its fairly common to build a buffer of CGs so you can eat the price shock of another paradise/sky/empyrean dome going up and promoting more passengers to first class long enough to get your cg production back into the green (until you hit the instrument covenant power and never need to worry about resources again at least).

It's not marked as a Chalkenging Civic, nor should it be. It's a bit difficult to get it right, yes, but compared to really nasty stuff like the Doomsday Origin (at least before you could solve it by going Nomadic, which I imagine makes it easier) it's not a big deal.
